Thank you sir! Very helping to have skills and passion more oriented. I believe it helps less skills player to have a role and receive more appreciation! Math

If you watch videos of the Barca/RM U10 teams, you'll see that when they build out, it looks like they are always swimming in space for long passes to be possible. In my games, the build out line experience always feels like a high intensity pressure fest where there is no space and once that initial pass is made to the center back, the swarm is quite effective - because it feels like there's nowhere to go. That being said, I haven't applied all that you've taught here in a live situation - maybe I'll find that if the swarm happens, the center midfielder will be available and we'll be the ones off to the races!

100% If you can get your U9/10 teams to switch field, they should be off to the races!

I feel the same sentiment as the OP, for my U10 rec team they were pressing hard and we had a little time because the field seemed so small. For my U12 rec team, the other team wasn't pressing as much and we had a lot more time as the field is a little bigger. We have only had 2 practices (2 cancelled because of FL rain) and rec teams only get a single 60 min practice a week. The parents, league and players aren't used to BOOTB and bringing it back on kickoffs or possession ball. They must think I've lost it but I still believe in BOOTB 😂! Thanks for the vids!

@@tillmandavids We've switched to taking goal kicks from fullbacks into goalkeeper and pressing our centerback up to make a double pivot. But we did a lot of Coach Rory 4-3-1 for a long time before we went 3-3-2 and did this pivot. I feel like freaking Pep Guardiola now. Thanks, Coach Rory!

Coaching 9yr olds. Running into through balls to the 9 over the top when the center backs press to close. And the opposite side wingback #3 pushes up high and causes lots of issues. Any thoughts? Does our wingback #2 come all the way back with their #3?
@CoachRorySoccer2 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah this happens a lot especially if your pressing well or if the team you are playing just loves to smash balls. I am ok with balls over the top, because they are essentially 50/50 balls and I specifically put some of my stronger players at the CB positions. Its a learning experience for them especially if they have to mark a faster, quicker 9. Basically I tell them to keep the opposing 9 in front of them and don't stab. Slowing the player down is just as good as winning the ball because you have help on the way.

so I have a question in general…I’ve been watching a lot of your. Videos and I noticed that sometimes you call the 2 and 3 fullbacks and sometimes you call them halfbacks…is there a particular reason for this is or is it just one of those things that’s jus’t weird because it’s 7v7? Wanted to let you know your videos have been a big help getting my thoughts sorted out on how to coach 7v7.
@CoachRorySoccer2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The 2 and 3 should be Fullbacks or outside midfielders. If I said halfbacks it was in error.

Can you post the link that shows what to do when the possession team attempts to switch the field after having their initial build-out stopped
@CoachRorySoccer Жыл бұрын
Sure. If the opponent switches field the key is the wing on that side. They have to figure out if they press or cover. And it depends on the situation.

Could you have your cm press the second defender and your defender stepped up to the cm so you go man for man and lock on? Any disadvantages of this?
@CoachRorySoccer Жыл бұрын
You could but what happens unfortunately in the states at least is you get a lot of kick ball and teams that just blast the ball down the field. So now you’d have only one CB behind

what if the Red 2 and/or 3 decide to go forward looking for long ball? Do blue 2 and 3 follow all the way back?

I would have them mark their man yeah.

Are you going to do the video on what happens when they switch?
@CoachRorySoccer2 жыл бұрын
Sure! Do you want it from the perspective of the team in possession? More of a building out of the back video? Or are you looking for a more detailed 7v7 pressing video and what the team defending does if there is a switch?
@MikeBaas2 жыл бұрын
@@CoachRorySoccer The team in possession videos you have with the 3 options are already spectacular. I was asking about when pressing and the other team switches (for when we play the great team who employ this).

@@CoachRorySoccer Thanks for your great 7v7 videos. I was wondering if you ever made this video and if not how do you counter the switch direct from the center back to the other center back across the goal when pressing with the striker only. Is it the 9's responsibility to press again? A team did this to us this weekend and my fullback pressed and we were lucky that the center back's pass to his fullback went out of bounds or they were "off to the races".
