Do you place more trust in a sensational exposé or a Supreme Court decision? I think you guys sort of skated over that one. Bias takes on many forms.

The supreme court itself makes its decisions based primarily on bias. Each justice gets the same evidence. Their own biases are literally what results in the decision. Which you value more is kind of pointless. The facts are irrefutable in this case (and to be honest, not very surprising). The variables they chose were wrong and merely reflected the institutionalized racism present in the US. We would like to assume that the supreme court is somehow more objective than other sources, but that's not really based on any real evidence; It just makes us feel better and appeals to our own internal biases towards authority figures. In the end, you can only really trust yourself. Look at the data, ask questions and if you feel unqualified, listen to experts in the field and understand their rationale rather than celebrities or random arbiters.
