I never knew people evacuate to the coliseum. I'm actually surprised it was used as a shelter, considering how close it sits to the water.

So amazing and scary at the same time.

It's still incredible that the storm surge came into the Coliseum.

Waveland completely wiped out. Few houses survived Katrina. New Orleans did not receive full force of Katrina like Mississippi, Alabama.

Imagine how it was for New Orleans? This ain't nothing compared to what they all faced... Tragic for all but NO got it wayyy worse than anyone or any other city

New Orleans was a disaster because of levee failures and the governments failed response in the aftermath Mississippi faced a 30 foot storm surge basically the states whole coast 30 miles inland was wiped out
@aldenstallworth55044 жыл бұрын
We faced the worse of the storm surge. If you seen the destruction in mississippi you would have been amazed
@Dj02874 жыл бұрын
New Orleans didn't get it worse. Mississippi got the worst of the hurricane with the strongest winds and highest surge, all New Orleans got was levee failures

I was living in Ocean Springs MS. I had been through Andrew in 92 and knew this storm was going to be much worse. I left 3 days before she hit. Meteorologists saying it was a Cat 4 at landfall cannot be accurate. She was a solid 5. I was pissed about the police and black op mercenaries doing nefarious things for sure. And pissed about ppl not being able to get food and water from stores. Letting ppl die or shooting them.. But the MS gulf coast was flattened. When I hit the MS state line I couldn't believe what I saw. Storm surge crossed Interstate 10. The death toll will never be known but some ppl were never seen or heard from again. You had to see it with your own eyes to understand we got a solid Cat 5. That's all.
