18 months out from subcontracting with a business plan. (very young, still building personal brand for contracting.) taking notes every video. Grateful to Dimitry for sharing all of this industry specific and guarded knowledge. The industry is changing thanks to entrepreneur groups like Storm Front and Roofing online schools.

As a customer I can tell you that one thing that would absolutely change my mind about the company that put on my roof last week is the guy did not even call or ask how I liked the job and if everything went ok. I thought he was the face of the company and he would be out on the job to see how his guys were doing at least. And when he came by that evening to pick up the trailer with all the roof debris all he said was can you make the final check out to so and so. He was in the process of putting a tarp on the trailer and I had to get him to stop for a moment and come look at some issues with the install. It's too late now, but I realize this company does not operate on a professional level at all. Nothing at all like the one Owens Corning certified company in the area. I had a new HVAC put in 2 months ago and the lead guy asked me if I could leave them a google review if I was happy with the job. I appreciated him asking and it just told me he was trying to help his business. He's not the owner but is one of the lead installers. I was happy to leave them a positive review. The roofers website was so full of overly glorious words about themselves it just seemed fake. And the roofing pics on their site were just internet stock photos of homes that are not even located in this part of the country. Sorry for posting this on here. Probably not the right place. But I like watching your videos. I wish there were more roofers that had higher standards like you do where I live. But I'm in small town USA. I appreciate your videos.

Yes! They Ask, You Answer-style videos have been great for us. I've got about 12 dozen videos on our KZbin channel that are purely educational and don't try to sell. It has been like the proverbial snowball that now has a ton of momentum rolling downhill. Not only do we get leads directly from our KZbin channel that result in reroofing jobs but our presence on KZbin helps with the Google search algorithm so we get more jobs from Google too. I don't know why more contractors don't do this, but I'm glad that in my market at least, they don't.

It’s finding the time to create, edit and publish content. Difficult to do when your a small operator.

@@SteveThompson-li2fc consider it part of your marketing efforts. It's well worth it. We now have over 200 videos on our channel and have gotten over $300k of sales from it this year.

I have a customer who has a beautiful marketing presence. Tik Tok, Podcasts, Snapchat, Facebook, Reviews, etc. - 5,000sq customer. I have another one who is virtually invisible; his online presence is non-existent - 10,000sq customer. Do I think Marketing is important? Absolutely. But I don’t like seeing people get sidetracked. Good (modern) website and good reviews - that’s where I would start. (I do like the video testimonials)

This is an amazing set of tips. I’m going to implement at least 3 of them within the next week. Thank you for the value you offer!

Absolutely we agree 100%! All these marketing tricks are like a first impression which is HUGE! If the client loves your first impression then most likely everything else will go smooth and they will be certain in how you guide them in their experience with your company!

I usually bring all the products I’m going to use on the job to the homeowner as well as my GL policy and performance bonding information. I feel it gives me an edge, however Texas does not require a license I want this to change to get rid of the scammers.

Word of mouth referrals will take you to the very top in any field, no matter if that is selling Home Renovation door to door, or selling 5G communications to Enterprise CEO'S. Been there, done that, got the tee shirt. Phil

Thanks for creating valuable content. Let s see how many roofers accept and implement an idea they are prejudiced against.

Create goodwill toward your company and yourself by volunteering and supporting 2-3 charities in your area. Be sincere in wanting to help. If you don t know of any influential members of your community find out who they are. Donate your services as part of a silent auction for a fundraiser. It should be free and something of value in eyes of attendees. It maybe working and sponsoring a celebrity to speak at a dinner. It may be helping do service work on behalf of the organization. Do not ask for recognition. Do it because you want to make a difference in the community. Tis better to give than to receive.

Thanks for sharing this content. I like hearing what worked for you. I’m not in roofing, so I appreciate the general contracting application. You should consider offering business consulting to small companies in the different trades from those who previously built a successful company. I would pay for that.

Have multiple ways or platforms that people can view your video testimonials other than You Tube. Plant in viewers mind over and over why they should have your company reroof their home. Video testimonials should answer top 3 questions in prospects mind why you should be hired.

What's re your thoughts about roofing companies with CONTRACTING in name? I know you will stand out more with roofing and get more leads. How about both? For example "COMPANY NAME ROOFING & CONTRACTING" It has been something on my mind for a while as I do lots of roofing but also contract all my other work to other trades. I also would like to provide snow plowing in the winter.
