Another way to keep mosquitoes away is to cut the heads off of mosquitoes and put them on sticks (toothpicks work great) and surround yourself with them. This will tell all other mosquitoes that you're not one to be messed with. Warning: this may backfire and start a war with the mosquitoes fighting back in revenge for their fellow comrades.

I've grown marigolds in abundance for years in our yard and we haven't had problems with mosquitos after they bloom. we also go around releasing the oils from the leaves before they bloom o release the oils in spring. I also have mint and lavender near my front door.

I first discovered using garlic as a mosquito repellent when I lived and backpacked in Alaska 40 years ago. You can eat a clove, but its just as efficient to cook with garlic . You can also just take natural garlic tablets. The garlic goes into your blood stream, and comes out in your sweat and does not completely wash off, does not affect your natural scent except to all the bugs, it works on all bugs from ticks to flies and other insects. One garlic clove will last all day taken in the morning.

My dad and one of guys from his guard unit, Doc, tried eating garlic. They both started eating at least one clove a day a couple of weeks before summer training. That year was a very wet year and the mosquitoes were insanely bad at the military base. It was summer, in the high 80s and 90s, soldiers were wearing military bug repellent, that stuff will eat your off, but it was having little effect. Soldiers were wearing full flack jackets, the heavy pants, gloves and face screens to get some relief from the mosquitoes, all except my dad and Doc. They were wearing shorts and T Shirts, and not being bit. There commander commented they were proof that garlic works, he also added that they could give away the platoons position by their smell. A couple of weeks in the summer sun with no shower made them very pungent, but the mosquitoes left them alone. I have tried to as well, it does work, but you can’t shower and you do smell like garlic gone bad.

You should almost never use essential oils directly on the skin as there are many, both short and long term harms that can result. Make sure to dilute the essential oil with a carrier oil like grapeseed oil to the correct proportions (can be found online), or look for products that are already diluted correctly.

let me tell you something: I live in southeast Brazil (been here for over 5 years now). And I can tell you this about mosquitoes (at least the ones here): They can perceive when you look at them (YES, they know when you see or look at them) in a way that makes them back off and hide from you for a while until you look distracted again (that's when they try to bite you). They know when they are in danger, they will take cover somewhere they believe they are camouflaged. Mosquitoes are intelligent. As if they know when you turn the lights off, that you can't see them, but they can "see" you. They are happier and more active and confident in the dark because of that. It is as if they are possessed with intelligent evil spirits or are devil sent. No wonder they are pests and carry so many diseases killing thousands around the world! What has worked for me is the mosquito electric racquet (zapper)! I close my room's door and window and exterminate all remaining inside as they all come to me by attraction of the smell the body gives off naturally.

for me, it is effective to put breeding buckets for mosquitoes and have aquarium fishes. Just visit these breeding containers every 3days and feed those larvae or wrigglers to the aquarium fishes. In this way mosquitoes will not look for other stagnant waters that are not in your control. This will eventually lessen their multiplication.

Nancy Webb Basil repels many insects but may attract katydids and Japanese beetles. So Lavender is a better choice imo.

Lavender may keep the female mosquitos that do bite us away, but the males won’t go they love flowers and that’s why they choose to not bite us and eat flower/nectar

Cut the lemon in 2 pieces and rub it on the exposed areas. It works very effectively.
@boomboom73645 жыл бұрын
Tried that but didn't work after lemon dried off. I tried lemon oil with ground clover and it worked! Or cut lemon in half and stick whole cloves in them

Test Tea Tree oil first. Can be harsh on sensitive skin. Fine on hands, be careful around the face.

Snap off a piece of lemongrass and crinkle it back and forth, then twist it until you feel moisture and release the lemon scent, then stick it in your pocket 🙂

You will attract both not biting and biting bugs by using hairstyling products. Specially, in the bush and wooded area or forest! Example are mousse and hairspray etc.!

Great ideas! Can’t wait to try some, especially on a few large planters where squeeterz like to gather- one by the front door - eek!! My Tip: 💡 Increasing B1 intake during mosquito season has always helped keep those suckers away. (They sell B1 supplements at a fairly inexpensive price at the Wal*…) ❤️ ~ j

3 cups epsome salt, 3 cheap flat tall boy beers, 1 bottle of cheap blue mouthwash, takes a while to melt salt, I use 1 cup boiling water. Spray grass, shrubs, sidewalks, under picnic table, etc. Lasts for about 80 days.

Apply any liquid soap (preferably hypoallegenic soap) on your skin like using it as a lotion and let it dry (dont rinse)...also do the same on the itchy mosquito bites by washing first, then apply liquid soap and let it dry...ive been using this method on myself ang my 3yr old daughter. it is very effecrive for us as moquito prone person with type ab blood..
