Teachers LOVE a good t-shirt, and I realized I could turn that into a side gig. I used Crafted Threads for hilarious teacher-themed designs, grabbed a Cricut printer off Amazon, and started selling them to colleagues. It began as a joke, but now I’m selling to teachers across the district and even funding classroom supplies with the profits. If you're in education, this is a fantastic side hustle!

When I wanted to contribute to our family income but needed flexibility, I found the perfect setup: Crafted Threads for design bundles, Amazon for a Cricut printer, and Etsy to sell my creations. I started by printing fun t-shirts during quiet moments at home, and now I also sell them at local craft fairs. It’s incredibly rewarding to see this side hustle making a real difference in our budget!

Wow, these tips are gold! As someone looking to scale on Amazon Merch, hearing insights from a Tier 30,000 seller is super motivating. Loved the focus on finding your niche and leveraging trends-especially the advice on design quality and understanding what customers are actually looking for. As a broke college student with a creative streak, I decided to start a simple t-shirt business. Here's my pipeline for success: Crafted Threads for the design bundle, Amazon for a budget-friendly heat press (or borrow one like I did!), and campus events for my marketplace. Now I’m selling witty shirts that are covering my coffee habit AND my textbooks. It’s been a game changer!

Awesome!! pocket style or on the back?
@musicteacherengel

I've been doing both on the same product, front and back. It's more expensive, but I think if a customer really wants a zip hoodie instead of a regular pullover hoodie, they'll be willing to pay the extra. I haven't got the nerve yet to bump up my royalties on hoodies as much as some people, but I'm hoping that doing the print on both sides will be appealing to some.@@PhilipAnders

I'm excited to say that this technique of putting the design on the front left and the back has been working. At least two new designs have sold with this. It's just a bummer that Amazon enacted the price cap, so my max royalty for this double-print zip hoodie is under $4.

Hey Philip! I'd like to ask a niche research releated question. How come that the exact same term can rank as 'low' in MerchInformer keyword finder and F in advanced competition search? What does it tell about the niche?
@PhilipAnders

not sure to be honest. I have a video showing how I analyse and validate niches. Sometimes the data can be a bit confusing though

Hi Philip. I'm still in tier 10. Question for you. In the "brand" section when creating listings, should I include the actual brand name that I created for all my designs, or should I include a detailed description of the shirt design for each individual listing? The latter is what I see a lot with other sellers. Please advise which one and why. Thanks

2 questions, but first of all, lots of great tips thank you! 1) for the zip hoodie, if you place the graphic on the back side, will that Amazon listing thumbnail show the back side as default for you automatically? 2) for bulk pricing changes using Productor, after you set that one new price, will other marketplaces for that same item be changed accordingly all together for you as well? Thanks in advance!
@PhilipAnders
@PhilipAnders Жыл бұрын
1) Yes 2) No - You have to select the other marketplaces in the filters also, then all products selected will have the price changed together

I actually put the same image as a chest badge & large at the back, I always put mine down to 38% and tuck it into the right corner (as looking at design) then large on back. I do ok with Zipper hoodies over last few years since I started this method. It works very well for all the other apparel too ( minus V neck - the logo/ smaller image ends up looking really weird) but ive doubled up my listings with many many designs duplicating this method & they do sell ( back & front tees prints I do at £24.99) and I get it too.. Its great to boost a best seller too, make it a back print & make a cool motif/logo pocket design, mimick the best seller description tags title the works.

@@WonderfulWorldOfStuff Brilliant! I've been uploading the image to the back of the zip hoodie, and was considering trying the upper left front approach - but WOW! BOTH?!? What a great idea!

Hi Philip, OMG your vids are so full of helpful ideas and tips. I’m just about to watch your vid on MBA advertising. I was wondering, at what scale do you set your designs at on a standard T-Shirt. It seems to me that most people just place their design as large as it can be..Is this the best idea especially when using templates.

Do you spend a lot of time coming up with tags, descriptions etc or do you focus more on listing quantity over quality?
@PhilipAnders
@PhilipAnders Жыл бұрын
in my first years I would spend more time on descriptions. Now it's more quantity to fill out the amazon merch slots

but if amazon translates your description and your design is rejected as a result, it's not counted as your mistake, it's Amazon's translation, as far as I know.

Thanks for the tips. Guilty of picking too many color options. For the newbies..headsup, it’s a lot more tempting than it seems. Question Philip, what do you think about posting a completely separate listing with other color options? Ex. One listing has about 3-5 options, and then another one has another 3 or so options that you wanted to include. Thanks in advance.
@PhilipAnders
@PhilipAnders Жыл бұрын
Yes if you have a lot of slots to fill that's definitely a strategy worth trying. I also would sometimes consider this to test out a different thumbnail color for the design. Like black for primary in one listing, slate grey in another
