my father was a process engineer for Chrysler Corp at the Outer Drive plant in Detroit. He couldnt afford Chryslers, so growing up we had a 1960 Dodge Matador station wagon, and a 1960 Dodge Dart 4 door sedan. The Matador wagon is what we took vacations in as it had the 361 engine and could carry our family as well as pulled a Winnebago 215 travel trailer. i grew up riding in that seat in the back that faced rearward, and loved every minute of it. Beautiful cars, beautifully designed. today, i cant tell a toyota from a nissan from a mitsubishi, from a ford, back then, just the design cues said dodge, ford, or gm.

My dad owned a 57 Royal Lancer convertible. Bought it brand new in 57- sold it ten years later when I was eight years old. It devastated me when he sold it. We drove it cross-country in 65 from Detroit to LA. We stayed in one of those Indian-themed motor lodges. Man, what a good time it was to be a kid. My dad worked on the line at Dodge before the war, and was always loyal to the company.

My Uncle had a 57 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer 2 door hardtop in green and white. That was followed by a 64 Polara 500 2 door hardtop in black with a red interior: buckets and console with floor shift. I still think it is one of the most beautiful cars. That was followed by a 70 Coronet 500 in green and finally a 77 Gold Diplomat. From there he traded down to Cadillacs.

A friend of mine was given his Grandmother's 1982 Dodge 400 Coupe to drive to College. The car was twenty-one years old, flawless with less than 19,000 miles on the odometer. It had a 2.2L Turbo 4-cylinder engine, three-speed automatic, Power Steering/Brakes/Windows/Door Locks, Bucket seats with center console, air conditioning, Wire Wheel Covers, and a quarter rear padded vinyl roof. It was Charcoal Gray with a Light Gray Vinyl Top and Interior. That car was nice! He still owns the car, restored it about six years ago, and drives the car daily. His Dad still has his Mothers's 1962 Dodge Lancer GT two-door hardtop in White with Blue Trim and interior, Air Conditioning, and pushbutton transmission, like new!

the 1957 Chrysler lineup featured the first radical tailfins, but what is often overlooked it that they alson introduced the first dual headlight feature. My Dad bought a 1957 Plymouth, 1959 Plymouth, and a 1960 Plymouth that featured both of these plus torsion bar suspension that as a kid, got to witness all of these.

I remember all these cars. My father sold them new, also, they were on the road until the 80s. You would see them in supermarkets, parking lots, drive-ins, gas stations, they were like dog shit, all over the place. But I'm happy to see the young generation has discovered a lost city under the sea that nobody knew about 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂!

I really wish Dodge can get out from being blanketed by Stellantis. I'd would consider them again. They built some really solid vehicles over the years that lasted several 100K miles being well maintained.

Bot garbage. The name "Lancer" in '57 simply was a model spec meaning it had the slick sports roof like Plymouths had, but that roof/spec didn't apply to 4 door or post cars. 👀

Then it’s a hardtop, got nothing to do with the Plymouth !

@@preeyakumari-i2q Plymouth had the same Sports Roof 2 door HT available on Savoy, Belvedere and standard on Fury, but didn't designate it as a "model" like Dodge did on their Coronet, Royal and Custom Royal models. No other Mopars in '57 HAD that 2D HT roof, bot boy. Try to keep up, Dude here says the Custom Royal Lancer was available in all body styles. Uhhhh no. The word Lancer MADE it a HT. 🎬

Today the word "awesome" is probably the most abused and incorrectly used word in the dictionary. Look up the definition if you doubt me! In this case, it is used as an attention getting, click bait heading to lure you into watching the video, hoping to see something truly "awesome." At best, these cars might be interesting or unusual, but they are anything but awesome.
