8-BALL - At the 2016 Make-It-Happen 8-Ball Invitational, Rodney Morris, 39, was one of the selected members of Team America at the 2016 Mosconi Cup. Also, back in 2011, he won the “Fatboy Challenge”, a DCC 10-Ball event sponsored by Eric Peterson. His opponent, Shane Van Boening, at 33 years-old, just won his 5th U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship. Let’s see how this 8-Ball match played out.

Would love to see more variants of the game played at the top level. Something like 8 ball rotation, where if it is an open table you can only shoot the lowest number stripe or solid and then you have to shoot them in order before you make the 8. I have played this at the pool hall and it introduces a lot of unique, tactical scenarios. Break and runs are so much harder which is better for the pros. I think its also called Saratoga pool elsewhere but they remove 2 balls from the rack for whatever reason.

Great game if you play on a coin operated table. Takes some time to finish. Personally prefer to run the stripes from 15 down to 9 and then the 8.

Shane chose the wrong pattern in rack 2 @ 12:05. I like 2,4,5,7,1, then the 8. It cost him. Rodney didn't see a winning safety in rack5 @ 30:52 by playing the 15-2 combo and try to freeze the rock to the 11. It blocks the 3 and at worst, doubles up all other solids to the top right corner. It didn't matter because he shot his way out of it against long odds for the win. That's why he's playing SVB and I'm not.

If by almost you mean “not at all” I say you are correct sir. You have the right opinion on the subject. Now an example of annoying chemistry in pool commentation would be Freddy agnir paired with George teyacheya* I like Freddy, George is ehhh sometimes good sometimes not. It really depends on his interlocutor. But when you put those two together you get all kinds of passive aggressive chatter and innuendo of such a deciduous nature that you find yourself nearing fight or flight mode instead of enjoying the game. Billy and Danny are obviously men of means and substance. Gentleman, as it were. And they obviously know and respect each other and as such they engage in a bit of combative banter as men of means are want to do.
