@@jjones9822 I also thought the movie itself was underwhelming, but Depp's individual performance as Whitey could easily be considered worthy of an Oscar nomination regardless of the movies shortcomings. I have to highly disagree about people finding Whitey's story interesting, it is far more unique than typical mafia stories, and the popularity of The Departed proves lots of people are interested in the story depending on the presentation. I like it better the second time around, but not enough to not still feel disappointed over what could have been. Jack Nicholson was supposed to be playing a character like Whitey Bulgar in "The Departed". In my opinion he was horrible in it. He came off too much like the Joker than an intimidating and menacing criminal. Depp is an actor that i never liked Depp (i hate the pirate movies and some of his other projects were just ok) and i was shocked when they said he'd be playing Bulgar. But he was amazing. I think it might be one of Depp's finest performances. Id love if they made a HBO or Showtime series around his character.

Living in Boston you always heard people talk about Whitey and everyone claimed to have known him or met him at one point, about 95% of those stories were pure bullshit. I remember one night around 2009 or so I'm out at a bar and some loudmouth drunk in his 40's or so starts saying how he's known and not to f*** with him because he knows Whitey and used to work with him, blah blah blah. An old dude at the end of the bar starts laughing at him and tells him to shut the f*** up. Loudmouth starts yelling at the old guy "what, you calling me a liar? You don't know who I am". Old guy calmly stands up, walks over, leans into the guys face and says "No, I don't know who you are, and you are a liar. You never came close to him, you never spoke to him. If you did, you would know to call him Jimmy. If he heard you call him Whitey, we would have left you in a dumpster." The drunk dude left a few minutes later and the old guy went back to his drink.

better then scorsese usual cocain and violence plus soundtrack let you feel like being criminal is fun........compared to goodfellas thats a movie serious.....but scorscese and his cocain in most movies and violence with great sound.....seems like most people think should killing people make fun? wow

I think it was a great movie, tho they shouldn't of gave away so many trailers/ sneak peeks, I think it would have made the movie a lot better and it would of been more surprising 😉 but it was still an awesome movie to watch!

starbuck4774 Me too :) didn't know about this video. But I find that even the trailers on Tv/Cinema still gave away too much! :/ Great Movie tho :)

+Mercedes Bianchi It's a true story. If anyone read anything about the case knows what was going to happen and how it ended.

+Diostillrocks Im in the middle of reading the book now. And I'm better understanding why the movie focuses so much on John Connolly and John Morris. Even tough, like a mot of movies do, they twek a little things around
