Hi Firstly thanks for all your amazingly informative videos.I know my question isn’t related to this video.The question I would like to ask is- after having your all terrain tyres fitted, does your adaptive cruise control and front assist still work?
@CampervanTime4 ай бұрын
Yep, all working perfectly 👍

Have you looked at solar for the roof, I see there is now a panel that secures to the roof tracks, and the kit comes with a mppt controller, cables etc

Ian, I had 2 x no drill 100 Watt pannels installed recently from that supplier and cannot fault them. We've not had to connect to hook up once since. I use a CPAP machine at night, plus fridge, heater at night etc and both batteries back at full by afternoon the following day even with cloud cover.
@CampervanTime2 жыл бұрын
We haven't - but that's because we have never found ourselves in a situation yet where we've had anywhere near got low on battery power. We have been off grid with fridge running, lights, some heater use for 3 days and that was fine.

Bear Lock from Theft Stop is a fantastic security device also, many transporter owners have them

The best security device is one you actually use. The Bear Lock is so easy to engage that I effectively use it every single time I get out of the van.

We use the Bearlock, highly recommended.

What about door locks for stopping panel popping etc and window film

Hi Will when I new I was getting my new t6.1 swamper camper I made sure I upgraded the basic vw security. I bought a new disk lock, I then bought a dub lock pedal box lock .I had an additional electronic immobiliser fitted and also had a Clifford concept g5 alarm fitted. And a state of the art tracking system fitted. I also had two extremely heavy duty Anti ram posts fitted to my driveway. I also had another fitted beside the drivers door ,this way its almost impossible for the van to be stolen .nothing is impossible but the best thing is just to do as much as you can to make it as difficult as possible.
@CampervanTime2 жыл бұрын
Sounds pretty solid security to me ! Agree totally on making it difficult - best policy I think.

I also have 10 cctv cameras located around the house plus 14 PIA lights fitted around the house ,as soon as anyone comes near the house I get a notification. Never can have enough security

It can be a right faff taking all the security bits off but so is coming out and finding the van gone .when I was 24 I had a 4 year old ford granada Scorpio cosworth, I only had it for 6 weeks before it was stolen. I then made sure that every car I would own would have as much security equipment I could point on them to avoid them being stolen again. Touch would ive not been a victim of crime since .I'm not out of the woods yet as longs as I've got air in my lungs they could still try there luck so I make it as difficult as possible 👍

Just had the phone call today saying my new Cali has arrived! So very interested in securing the thing. The spare wheel Sparesafe thing states on Campervanbits listing that it won't work with a tow bar fitted yet your one seems to? Who's correct?! I have a factory fitted removeable tow bar

Check out Pandora alarms, as they some some great packages including trackers/ alarms anti hijack and remote start that’s cool for the colder months. You can also monitor from your phone and smart watch. Prices are very reasonable and good service.

Hi both. I use some of the devices and systems you mentioned. A very cheap addition is a driveway PIR from Amazon. I put the battery powered PIR in the driver footwell and have the alarm inside the house. There no way or disabling it and gives you enough warning to grab your cricket bat 🤣

Thanks again, another great video. How far can the cameras be away from the main unit?
@CampervanTime2 жыл бұрын
I'm not entirely sure but I know it works on 2.4ghz signal which is the same as one (longer) type of WiFi so it's not bad at all. We have thick stone walls and have two cameras working easily through 2 lots of these walls. One is about 10m away from the base unit and the other is about 5m.

Thanks for the video. Most have pros and cons. I’d be concerned about a ghost - if someone was violent enough to attack me for keys or break into my house I wouldn’t want to risk them threatening me for a code - would rather protect my personal safety and have good insurance! Also I’ve watched my neighbour almost reverse into one of those driveway posts several times which is enough to put me off 😂
@rhoschapp2 жыл бұрын
Completely agree. If they’re that determined then I’d rather them take the van rather than get frustrated and come looking for answers.
@CampervanTime2 жыл бұрын
Agree completely re personal safety - must be number 1. Those posts do have downsides don't they... The one I was referring to at my parents old house was there when I was 17 and had just passed my driving test. My little (old) Renault 5 didn't have reversing sensors as you'd imagine and I *might* have had a slight altercation with it once (or twice!)

I am surprised you didn’t have the Milanco steering wheel lock to compare as your friends at campervan bits stock it. Perhaps you could borrow some locks and do an ease of fit and storage comparison. They are both sold secure gold rated. A really easy and cheap method is to put a chock under one of the out of easy sight wheels. Thieves never look for them and a black one is hard to see toward the inside of the wheel by day or night. Need one front and back if not on a driveway NSR is a good default location.
@CampervanTime2 жыл бұрын
Great tips, thank you. Good point about comparison of locks - will have a chat with them the next time I'm up there.

GPS tracker or Ghost immobiliser? Which is best and why?
@CampervanTime2 жыл бұрын
Tricky so say really as they obviously do different things. Tracker helps you find it if it has gone but ghost helps it not to go in the first place. So both?!
@SnowyAspenHillsАй бұрын
Smart track tracker iMOB does both with a credit card sized fob, no fob no start. It’s not detectable either.

Front and Rear Dashcams with Parking Mode are perhaps worthwhile especially those with a Cloud connection such as Blackvue.

That's a really good point. We actually have a dashcam that we haven't got round to fitting in the Cali yet. Must do that. Ours is a Thinkware F770.

Regarding the disklock (39cm). This lock doesn't work on a Cali, the car is too big. You can actually drive and steer the Cali with the disklock ON.
