Enjoyed this one! The security on my van is an assumption that nobody will want it cos it's 21yr old. I also lock my rear storage area and have recently invested in a cable and lock to chain my bags together, just in case someone tries a quick smash and grab.

We didn’t know about the back door security that was pre-made, so we literally made our own. I love the Camaras.. they are on the list!! If you have a swivel seat when it facing backwards pop a decent padlock through the base this prevents them turning the seat. We use a motorcycle padlock. Thanks for your tips and videos John :)

Maybe I missed it. I've installed chains with hooks that fit onto the bottom of the seatbelt mount for the front doors. Very simple and basic, but SUPER effective!!

Hi John I have installed a Swann Security DVR system That gives full cloud recording via my onboard wifi router. I have only fitted two cameras to date, one front, one rear. The cameras are fully rated for outdoor use but like you I will monitor this. The output from the DVR is wired to my TV so I can instantly "chang channel" to view my cameras. I can also access remote playback via the Swann app on my phone, this can by live streaming or prviously recordings. The only issue I thought of when fitting the system was the hard disc in the DVR getting a thrashing as we drive down our lovely smooth british roads (NOT) so I swapped the conventional hard disc for a 2Tb solid state disc as so far I have ad no issues with cameras or DVR. Current drain is 1.4 A ( without TV on ) so my system can handle that easily. Thanks for you tips ... I like the Solidfy lock. Keep up the good work. Dennis

Hi Dennis, I'm looking to do the same as you with a Swann CCTV system. Good shout about swapping to a solid state disc. What's the power draw like for the system?

The Solidfy rear door security lock is great isn’t it - makes you feel more comfortable when leaving the van and overnight. One of those great solutions which don’t cost a fortune and take an age to install. Love your CCTV remote view mod 😀I’ve been installing CCTV (still have the front camera to add, another job on the to do list) but side and rear all done, went with wired as found a handy route and separate 12v DVR then attached to a small screen. The IR LEDs on the cameras at nights makes such a difference and brings out the detail doesn’t it. I sometimes leave a rechargeable radio on so if anyone looking thinks it’s occupied. Great tips as always. Have a great week, all the best, David 👍

Similar John, except i throw a curtain behind the front seats i have similar blinds and steering lock to john. I prefer a potential thief to see the steering lock b4 they consider breaking in so i don’t normally close the drivers side blind.

Thanks for another great video. Nice backup CCTV, and only 8 WATTS per camera. Can it see number plates in case of a RTA and drive off. Those InfraRed lights do reflect off your van, can you stop the light hitting the van and still catch the bad guy. I love watching "Automatrics MTrack" KZbin channel on tracking stolen vehicles. Take care and "Keep Em Peeled".
@Marshy234 Жыл бұрын
The attempts are so costly too, broken window etc for eg an empty laptop case or something that looked valuable in view. Completely closed down blinds they just need to repeatedly knock and ask for directions, takes minutes to establish that your away from the van. The wheel lock can’t deter them if blinds are down, so the thief who was going to be deterred by it is now going to cost fortune in damage as they break in before seeing it. It’s so infuriating to go to these lengths because of thieves! Great informative video 👍

nice one John. I use the blink system for my home and garage. and like you say, for the money you cant beat it. and i have fitted a tracker to my £22k motorbike..... so easy to steal motorbikes. still saving up for a van. catch you on the next one.

As well as all the same stuff. I also have a bike disc lock fitted on drivers seat seat base when turned round so makes it difficult to drive if they try. My Solidfy i have a padlock on it instead of a pin when away from the vehicle and use pin when inside. i have a also drilled hole in the rail of sliding door for a padlock so can’t be opened easy when away from vehicle, and those chain things on the inside front doors. FYI John, Haloview link to amazon went to something else for me.

Anything to make it awkward for a potential thief is good, should encourage them to move on and try somewhere else. I too have Solidify, Disklok and pedal lock as physical deterrents backed by a kill switch. Yes its a bit of a pfaffe setting it all, but much better than losing the lot. Great vid on the cameras, looking for something similar, finances allowing!!

I wonder if any of the camera systems have an output triggered by motion detection. That could be used to trigger a recording of conversation so it sounds like someone is in the van.

Hi Chris, I am using the Haloview 1080P camera system BT7, and the installation distance from my monitor to the rear camera is 40FT, the BT7 works perfectly, and I greatly love it. Powering supply to it by hardwiring the camera. Haloview camera couldn't connect to the wifi or Bluetooth, android phone and etc... It uses FHSS Private Agreement to work.
