I would add Zod from the comic story “The Price”. Superman defeats Zod and his lackeys, who have murdered the entire population of an alternate Earth. Since there is no one else left, Superman takes it upon himself the dispense justice, executing the criminals with green kryptonite. He is haunted by his actions for years to come and vows to never take another life.
@NoJusticeNoPeace4 жыл бұрын
It's not an execution for the sake of vengance, it's because Zod swears that he'll come to Superman's own Earth and do exactly the same thing there, murdering everyone on the planet. Superman executes him in cold blood to stop him.

@@PayondeAwsome Did you see the episode where The Flash sits down at a bar with The Trickster and just talks to him? The heroes with him are ready for a fight, while The Flash just sits and speaks to him kindly, convincing him to turn himself in without raising a hand. That's the difference, and why The Flash is so important to the team. Batman has his eternal battle against crime, Superman bears the weight of the world on his shoulders, and Wonder Woman is a warrior princess there to show Man's world the Amazon path to glory. Only The Flash embodies simple, grounded, humanist motives which keeps the entire team grounded. The Justice Lords are all about the "big picture," and there to show what happens when they lose sight of the small things.

Superman didn't hold back against Darkseid in Justice League Unlimited's finale "Destroyer", but it was Lex Luthor who ultimately took down the ruler of Apokalyps. Lex (the actual one of our universe) was also the one who took out Superman's Justice Lords counterpart. The events also affected the Question.
@firebirdcity4 жыл бұрын
This man speaks truth. A no holds bar Superman was about to get his heart carved out with a kryptonian blade by darkseid and lex stepped in and distracted darkseid with the anti-life equation. ALSO Superman 100% should have died when he tried to invade apokolips. He was defeated and about to catch some omega beams when he ‘covered darkseid eyes’ so the omega beams back fired... please. At top shape Superman is barely faster than darkseid. Your gona tell me after taking a beating like that he is fast enough to reach up and cover his eyes?

@bobbydeuce64864 жыл бұрын
That darkseid arc in the animated series would have to be, IMO, one of the GREATEST stories to be told if not the greatest already in the animated DC universe. The death of Turpin and Superman going into that fit of rage where he destroys that tank brought tears to my eyes. To top it off darkseid ruins Superman’s image and when he’s finally defeated nothing changes. Superman tosses him to the mercy of his subjects only to see Darkseid get carried away by his subjects saying, “I am many things Kal-El... but here, I am God.” It was a great story to end the show on and to express the need of a justice league. It was a great arc where Superman lost more than he gained.

Superman: The Animated Series was as good as Batman: TAS, its a shame it doesn't praised enough. Also even in alternate universe I don't enjoy Evil Superman storylines. It's easy to write a character with godly superpowers go dark, but that point of view kills everything Superman represents.
