Absolutely loving the new adventures on the hard! You both have such a passion for adventure and your excitement and happiness to experience new things is totally awesome! I'm really loving how you guys are showing all the new things you're learning about your trailer and all of its functions! Try not to worry and stress too much, the Xterra seems to be doing great and if you continue to take your time and be careful everything will be great! Really loving these new adventures of a lifetime!

I've been RV'ing for years now so I hope you don't mind a few suggestions. 1. Never hitch up or level the trailer with the stairs out. You run the real risk of ripping them right out of the mounting points in your floor. 2. Never travel with a full water tank. There are just a couple thin metal straps holding it in. That's fine if you are stationary but bouncing down the road puts a lot of stress on them and it's not unheard of for the tanks to just fall out when full and driving. With your 50 gallon tank those little aluminum straps are holding in over 400 pounds. Most parks will have a water fill near the entrance you can use once you get there or possibly a rest area near your destination. 3. Paper plates are your friend. You don't have to use water to wash them. 4. The light by your cable hook up is your antenna booster. There should be a small button on the plate that turns it off and the light will go out. 5. Your gauges lie. You'll get to know when your grey and black tanks are full by the sound they make. Fresh water always reads empty before you actually run out. I don't even bother looking at our gauges anymore since both the grey and black have been stuck at 1/2 since our trailer was 2 months old. They just are not reliable. You guys did great. Glad you enjoyed yourselves. And welcome to the RV world.

I loved your channel when you were on your dad's boat. I love Nordhavn, Wasn't sure when you switched to land. But Love your channel still. Congrats on your new home. You are on the west coast. Awesome trip! You guys must be in Heaven! Thanks for sharing! TJ did good backing in the trailer. Just a hint. You could hook up the trailer light chord to your suv, & start it, & let it idle in park to charge the batteries in your camper. It would burn some gas, but it could get you out of a bind! Once again, I really loved your video!

Natalie, great video, great scenery. Suggestions for the X: get a radiator flush and a transmission flush. Change the oil often. Don’t t fill the water tank until you are at or close to your destination when if possible, water is heavy. This also applies to the fuel tank. You don’t need a full tank of gas to go thirty miles. Plan ahead, something you’re pretty good at!

SO here's the deal with boondocking/dry camping and us. We have 100gals fresh water, 4 house batteries and a 265W solar panel. BUT we each must shower at least once a day. preferably twice a day, I know odd but it's just a thing. So dry camping for us is 1 day maybe 2 if we use paper plates, LOL. Great video, you guys will love exploring in an RV/Travel Trailer. The gauges for tanks are really not very accurate.

Great video now I think if you found a good used truck like a Honda Ridgeline which are really great on gas and great storage room.If you put a topper on back you could carry a kayak on top plus have way more storage room and way more towing advantage then that Xterra. Was it just me that had sooo many ads? I loved this long video. So many things to see and do and learn. We occasionally use our small Honda gens and they are so quiet and last all day on one tank. Another idea might be to carry a spray bottle and a squeegee for your windows. Do you listen to books as you drive? The secret life of trees will blow your mind! Do dishes as you shower. One washes the next guy rinses :-) I am sure you will acquire so many useful hacks as you go. Great video!

If you are using lead acid batteries when they wear out you should consider switching to AGM batteries? Interstate makes them, also check out Lifeline and Northstar. I would guess the house batteries on the Nordhavn were AGM. I have a friend who uses a drone to film houses for realtors he lost a few drones in the early days he used a wrist rocket slingshot and fishing rod with a rubber weight to recover his equipment with mixed results. Have fun be safe!

We have 2 batteries, we know we would be off grid a lot so we got another when we picked up the trailer and the lake water was a little fishy smelling so we didn’t want to bathe with it this time, but at a clean lake or river I’m all about it!!
@steveprice4779
@steveprice4779 3 жыл бұрын
While in Oregon be sure not to miss Crater Lake. Being able to go off grid is cool but a small Honda or Yamaha generator is a great tool to have and you'll have it for life. Takes the stress out of power worries. Also why are you guys not using the lake for bathing. I grew up at Priest lake in North Idaho and our family of 9 always used the lake even though we had indoor plumbing. Good save on the drone... stay safe😎

Another way to do dishes, rather than letting it run, fill the sink or a washtub with about 2-3 inches. Then heat a kettle of water to boiling. Wash with that then do the same with rinsing. It will not be much water. You need a second drone to dislodge the first drone, 😃.

Do you have a generator or solar for charging the batteries? Looking forward to seeing how it goes. Also get a couple of small wash basins. Use the lake water to wash dishes. Boil it, spit it up for wash and rinse. It will save on water. As far as power, look for the breaker panel for Receptacle breaker and shut it off.

Been using solar panels for 30 years on my RVs it is a great way to go. If you are going to camp off grid using the Forest service campgrounds or other off grid facilities. Ask the campground host you maybe able to use a portable graywater tank and dump it in the pit toilet vault. Have a couple 6 gallon water jugs refilling your water tank as part of your daily chores. Did this with a family of 5 for 10 days off grid worked perfect. Toilet use only at night should have no problem lasting for days.

Oh wow that’s very good to know. I don’t know what they expect you to do going off grid then 🤣🤷🏼‍♀️ lol we are trying to never travel full but it’s going to happen from time to time so I guess we will hope for the best! And we have actually been discussing putting together some travel guides and selling them to people who are looking to travel to the areas we go to!

Can you start telling us the name of the camp ground and the area/state. Also the month? I don’t know how far behind your videos run…

Yes we will try to include more names of campgrounds and I guess we didn’t say it in this one but in the last video we mentioned that we are in Oregon in the end of July! This video is the very end of July- august 1st in Oregon as well!

Enjoyed the boat videos and now the off grid camping. Good story telling, good personalities. This video was too long- maybe chop the trip in 2-3 parts. Your adventures are currently similar to Tula's Endless Summer- maybe see how they edit the camping trips and find some tips (like the outside floor mat). A 20-30 video is about max for family to sit through. If analytics show a lower viewing of this video maybe its the length- it took me 3 watch sessions to make the hour plus.

Yes I agree it was long. Our plan is to keep them at about 25 min typically so we are both on the same page! Lol This one got away from us 😬 and we will check out their channel!

Definitely subscribe to The Boat Galley for some great tips on saving power and water. One thing she recommends for dishwashing is the Aquabot, I think it is called, which is a spray bottle to rinse off dishes with less water. The other thing is solar Luci lights which are amazing solar lights that are inflatable, weigh nothing but throw a lot of light!!

Awesome I’ll check it out! And wow that sounds like such a great invention I will definitely look into that. And yes my friends actually have those lights and have brought them backpacking. They are awesome!

Try moving your stuff from out of the back of the vehicle to the back of the camper in the bathroom wile your on the road traveling and that will take the weight off the back of the vehicle. Also it will stop any back and forth weaving around and vehicle squatting. 😎🤙🏼 Rock on campers!

@@adventures lol time always tells the truth for sure. Down at the gulf there are several places to boondock for free for 14 days so you literally can just go from one spot to the other camping right on the beach. My favorite is Surfside and Port Lavaca.
