Sad to hear of Dene’s passing. My brother’s name is Dene, spelled the same way. Whenever anyone asked why it was spelled that way my Dad would say after Dene O’Kane. May he rest in peace 🍀

World amateur in Calgary Alberta 1983 was favorite to win but the tables were brutally tight and fell short... Parsons from Scotland won...he was a postman from the UK in his 50s

Just to correct you, it was the World Amateur in 1982, and it was won by Terry Parsons from South Wales. R.I.P., Dene.

I remember Dene playing at the Rotorua Citizens Club. It may have been in 1986. And he played our top players giving them all a 50point start. And beat them all except one. RIP Dene fondly remembered
