I hope you enjoy this new series Ingredients in Action. I will be highlighting individual or groups of ingredients in 2025. I learned ALOT while working with these cosmetic gums, I hope you find it useful too. See you all after surgery. Head over to my Patreon to see the final results after 3 days. There's a word.doc attachment and link to this video at the top. www.patreon.com/c/SoapChef

Thank you, hopefully they won't need to do anything severe for surgery but they won't know till they get in there. I learned alot from this experiment. My fav's were Konjac (.5% is the equivalent of 1% xanthan), Gellan and Sclerotium. There will at least 2 more parts of the thickeners in this new series: synthetic polymers, gums you can use in food and other thickeners like HEC, cellulose, microcrystaline cellulose, methyl cellulose, etc.

I’ve been playing a lot with xanthan gum, HEC, and AVC. 😊

Polymers are coming up in part 3

@ I’m very excited for that!

@@MsAubrey i’ll be doing a couple of different parts just on thickeners. This one was natural gums, I’ll move into synthetic polymers, gums that you can use in food, but also cosmetics and a couple of others such as HEC, cellulose, methyl cellulose, microcrystalline, etc.

What cat would you add hyaluronic acid too? I’ve wonder how people list them themselves I love to take notes and put things in the right place for each but I always run into not knowing where to place some and that’s one of my thickeners/ gelling agents that are randomly placed😂

@stephaniewilson4120 not sure I’m understanding your question. Are you unsure of where to place hyaluronic acid in your ingredient list? It’s usually 1 or 2% so it’s going to be towards the bottom of the ingredient list. If you're asking what category HLA falls into, it's a cosmetic active that draws and retains moisture into the skin so it's a humectant as well. While it does make a slightly viscous gel, it's not typically considered a cosmetic thickener.

@@TheSoapChef thank you I was just wondering if other people considered it a yelling agent or a thicker thank you for explaining love your videos

oh, I see. no, its not a gelling agent, even though it does form a light gel. I consider it a humectant
