This vehicle has electronic engine management, which means, this adaptation could have done without mechanically moving the throttle pedal. Electronic brake management too, which could move the brake pedals without mechanically modifying the pedals. Also to mention, this vehicle can actuate its blinker stalk on its own, which could also be utilised in the conversion.

I just found your channel and I love it so much! I will definitely keep in mind these details when I look for a new car. The indicator switch blew my mind, but I got used to flipping it with my other hand, I just try to do it when the wheel is straight so I can reach for it while my hand is still partly on the wheel. The electric chairs are also soooo nice.

I adore my adaptive cruise control, I also have automatic wipers and headlights. However, it's nuts that they are even allowed to fit hand controls without the indicator switch, which is what I have, so a lot of times I just don't signal. I'd also love to have electric seats (with a memory so they know my driving position), but I'd have to change makes of cars to get that and I'm really quite attached to VWs. Keyless entry is not something I've ever had, but nor is it something I feel the need for. I think this probably means I go out less than you and that living on the east side of the country it's a bit drier, so it's not that common for me to get in the car in the rain.

SEAT is ownd by the VW group and has a vw engin. My husband has a polo and says its just the same. Im really quite pleased with the quality of the car. Unfortunately I don't have electric seats either (it was my mums car that I filmed those on.) But luckily my husband and I have the same driving position. xx
@anneharrison18496 жыл бұрын
@@Wheelsnoheels My problem is not anyone changing the driving position, but getting in and out without pushing the seat back. I'm managing at the moment, but if I have more pain I really need to push it back to turn around and get out, but then that ends up causing more pain to have to adjust it before and afterwards, it's a lose lose.

I find 2 door cars are easier to load and unload . I get in the collapse the chair , then put behind the front seat . For 4 door cars I have to get in on the passenger side , collapse the chair , put half the chair in , scoot over , pull chair the remaining way in .... then I have a rope attached to the passenger door so I can pull it shut .

Since my accident nearly 20 years ago and getting my Learner’s permit 8 months after the accident, I’ve had seven cars, all four doors. I’m about to buy my eighth and am tossing up whether to get a BMW M140 (four doors) or M2 (two). One thing I’ve noticed with the two door versions is that even though you get a wider door aperterture to get the chair through, the doors are longer which narrows the space when I’m parked in a narrow parking space.

That's cool. Do you take a rigid chair out or a folding one? Does a rigid chair even fit in a car or 4x4 and hiw do you get it in there if youre alone? I've seen the mechanical arm things that come out the boot and put the chair at your door but they seem crazy expensive and do they only work with folding chairs?

Seen the hand controls being shown in the video I have multiple cirrhosis and my feet have turned numb so I cannot feel the pedals having these fitted to my car before I could even use them I had to go to a school of motoring I had four lessons that were £80 a time I didn’t even realise there was a School of motoring specially for this type of tuition so on my fourth lesson instructor said you are never ready for your test. Again that was something that I didn’t know you had to have a test for although I have to say I think it was essential they were extremely strict on eyesight especially peripheral vision I also had a test on a static rig of my reaction time for emergency breaking I also had to have a cognitive test as well. I had all this done at Rockwood hospital in Cardiff Wales and the examiner told me after the test there is lots of people who fail. Fortunately I passed and without these adaptions on my car I wouldn’t be able to drive so for me they are an absolute godsend.

I love your channel, we have different conditions but your content is still really relatable and I have enjoyed watching 😊

Charlie 44 You don’t need a ramp or a lift for a manual chair. Just learn to dismantle your chair and lift it into the passenger seat or rear passenger seat. Also! Think Gem is a bit modest/sensitive about how she gets her chair into her car. She can walk with a crutch which is a real bonus to manage independently with storing her chair in the boot. This is absolutely ideal for her in terms of safety when driving and frees up the car for passengers.
