You can be the 'best' parent on earth and still have your kids abandon you in life. I was a hospice volunteer and saw parents dropped off like a dog at a shelter at the 'old folks home", and the family never returned... Until after the parent passed and then the family (vultures) would be very involved for the inheritance. Just because you have kids does not assure they will want anything to do with you.
