At the beginning, I think ellie is getting more and more clever. I wonder if she thought if she gave a double high fives that she would get double the treats

I adopted a bunny from the family next door, an impulse purchase on Easter. I've been paying close attention to rabbit care KZbin channels, modeling his living space (which is the same as mine, he's free roam) after what I see in the videos. He has a big dog kennel as his base of operations, but the doors are open almost 100% of the time. He's doing great, he's binkying happily every day, and very social. When visitors come over he wants to be on the middle of everything. He tolerates being held in my arms as long as I'm stroking his head. I pick him up at least once a day, usually for no more than one or two minutes, so that he remains habituated to being handled. I give him a piece of banana very occasionally (around one banana per month), but until he is a year old, I'm mostly just keeping him on unlimited timothy hay and high raw protein pellets, because I don't want to stress his digestive system until he's grown. We have daily rituals of play and petting, but I am careful to let him do whatever he wants almost all the time. I let him outside on my front porch when the weather is nice, always directly supervised. He also has perches where he can look outside and see what's going on.

my bun is a female holland lop and is 14 months old. she likes the dried fruit that i get but absolutely refuses the real crunchy stuff and fresh fruit. i signed up for binxbox and she likes the treats they send usually. faves are apples and pineapple and also those you showed here the oxbow simple rewards. and a beggar she is for sure 😂 so i take one of the oxbow hearts and i break it up into several pieces and i do the same with the pineapple chunks so she thinks shes getting lots of treats when in reality not so much. trickery is my friend. thank you for your channel. ive learned a ton from you

Have you bought the Oxbow Baked Treats lately? They USED to be wonderful… until they reformulated them to be ridiculously huge and thick! They no longer fit in a rabbit’s small, oval-shaped mouth. And they’re so thick and rock hard, it is virtually impossible to break a piece off that’s small enough for them to mouth and chew. Lots of people are complaining to the company as their bunnies will no longer eat them, but Oxbow is not listening. I’m sure the changes were to reduce their cost. ☹️ I now buy a very healthy, hay-based treat from an Etsy seller. They also contain a mixture of healthy greens and a small bit of fruit. My rabbit is bonkers over them and I feel good giving her something she enjoys that is nutritious for her.

Definitely get them fixed! Don’t worry you’ll not lose any of the spunkiness
@lauraelizabeth42263 жыл бұрын
@@nameless.8056 yes it's super important! Females have a very high incidence of reproductive cancer (80%!) and spaying prevents that. Males get moody once they reach a certain age, they will spray to mark their territory, and court you. Being courted by a male bunny that is in love with you is cute at first...until they start biting your feet and marking you. Bunnies also have trouble being friends when they reach a certain age, because they get very hormonal, territorial and end up getting in fights! Spaying and neutering is the best thing you can do for your pet rabbit.

What do u think about using a harness..? Taking them for a walk on grass/dirt?
@fyourchickenstrips20683 жыл бұрын
I have harnesses for my 2 bunnies, I've got 3 different types, 2 are super adjustable cat harnesses and the others were advertised for buns but my boys wiggle out and the size smaller was too small, if its fitted right and you're not yanking them around it's okay, get them used to it before taking them outside though

Great video. I was wondering if you have advice on training when there are more than one bun? I found when I had one bunny it was really easy to establish the rules and cues, but later we got two bunnies, there is always one that's very excited about treat and being 'disruptive' to the training, i guess the competitiveness in getting treat became a priority to them, I felt it must have been confusing to them whether they got the food for doing the right thing(training) or was it just a normal treat feeding time lol, so I gave up eventually. Any tips would be great! Thanks

I don't know if they'll stay longer, before they are given to the pet shop owner i want them to learn their name, reciprocate the love i am giving to them. I hope i can convince my parents to let them live here...
