Excellent video and a great refresher. My Dad couldn’t stand what he called ‘a dump lump’ so he taught me every knot he knew. I’d sit in the woods and practice with old rope pieces that smelled like gear oil. That knowledge has served me countless times and the first rule of knot rigging is know the purpose. Excellent choices, Shawn. Besides the bowline, the trucker's hitch, and the reef knot, my favorite knot is the constrictor knot. The constrictor knot is much more useful than the clove hitch and the timber hitch. But I am here to tell you that a knowledge of knots is one of the best survival tools that you can possess. Anything that can convert a simple rope into a dozen different tools is an invaluable survival skill. I really appreciate the information you provide here and I'm a loyal subscriber.

Thanks Corporal! How I practice and learned these was to cut 1- 1.5 ft of paracord and continuously tie these knots. Kept it in my pocket and during a meeting or watching the kids play, I’d continuously tie these knots until I could do them without looking. Gets that muscle memory solid.

I was in the Navy during Vietnam but never had a need for knots in my rating. Learned a few in boot camp but immediately forgot them because I never used them on a regular basis. Since watching this channel I have definitely expanded my knowledge and usage of knots. I love knots, as a professional tree climber I have a broad range to chose from within my field. I like to watch these videos to find things outside of my field. I have the 50' hank with a bowline and fast deploy all set in my poncho bag, good to go ! It's great, so quick to set up. All of my knots are very safe, but there are many quick release knots on this channel, great for the purpose of knocking up a shelter ! Great channel Cpl. Outstanding

I travel for work so I'm staying in a hotel. I couldn't get the curtains to totally close so I made a bushcraft zip tie from a length of paracord using a basic slip knot and was able to secure the curtains. I also made a quick deploy ridgeline and got my truckers hitch down pat. It really is amazing how often bushcraft applies to real life.

Thank you very much for doing a show on knots, i suffered a brain injury and have forgotten all my knots, i have camped for 50 years and some things are just gone. Outstanding as usual! Corporal I had a thought. When you were demonstrating the reef knot/square knot I was thinking “yes, that’s for an arm sling in an emergency. It sits flat on body for comfort” Without getting the lawyers smiling can you please consider a basic first aid video or a first aid kit video.
