These are the tips and tricks that have made Fallout 76 more fun to play - a better flow of weapons mods lets you build the best weapons; a better choice of armor mods keeps you alive for longer and dealing with Fallout 76 stash problem - the stingy stash limit - means you have more room to play around with everything you find. If you keep hearing that your stash box full, this should help out. We’ve even got a sneaky trick for crushing a massive set of Power Armour into a very small space, making it easy to store any high level Power Armor you find in the wasteland. Our guide shows you how.
I’ve included a couple of quality of life tweaks, too, including how to use Fallout 76 fast travel more efficiently to save caps for the things you want to spend them on, and how to squeeze more variety out of limited perk card spaces. It’s all about selecting the best perk cards for each situation - I’ll explain how in our tips. I also talk a bit about how I like to explore and how you can get across the map without using up many health items. There’s no out and out Fallout 76 cheats, but I’m hoping this Fallout 76 walkthrough will help beginners.

@@dylvasey If you play on PC, write a custom INI file and force the game in Full screen mode (google it). The default border less window mode kills frame rate.

@@dylvasey I play on PS4 and only been disconnected about 3 times and only had bad frame rate when tons of enemys we're coming at me but that happened in fallout 4 or if it was too big. I've also had it since it was 40 bucks for sale during thanksgiving or Black Friday or something I don't quite remember.

I've leveled up to level 40 on solo always having at least 15 people online and if any bugs happen it's small graphic glitches and the frame rate again doesn't drop unless a lot of enemies. That's my gameplay maybes others are different but I just don't see all the bugs other than small ones that aren't game breaking

Another nice tip would be that you can discover map locations from the top of the towers. As you go up the stairs, when reaching the top, go to the balcony and look down. You will have the option to reveal surrounding locations.

Base building. Build on a cliff so you dont have to protect the cliff side plus you get an amazing view. Build something tall to put your turret on and then take away the stairs so its hard to attack it. If you build your base do not move it by placing a new camp location. Go back to your base and disassemble it first. Right now there is a bug that will render parts useless if you just move it. Then they take up space in your budget for no good reason. You can put level 3 locks on your doors. Not that anyone can steal your stuff but they can damage it. Make use of concrete blocks to level out the area. Its hard to build on uneven terrain. Good luck.

I believe the building bug occured on the last Beta test day. If you blueprinted during this time you would be unable to rebuild from said blueprint because you'd get the "The structure is floating" warning even if it wasn't. The disappearing power armor frame bug also stemmed for the final test. As of 11/16/18 neither bug has been fixed and the power armor frame bug is a game breaker because of it, you will never be able to use power armor again.

Building door hack: it only lets you place the first wooden door soooo..... In your CAMP, place a door, then store the door, then go to stored items and find that door, and before you place it, switch variants and now you can place any door you want.

Another quick tip for perk cards, if you have two or three of same card. You can rank it up at anytime. Tho you will need to have enough points to use again. I thought had too wait to level up first before you could do it. Another helpful tip if having trouble crafting ammo cos lead is hard to find. Go to the vault tech University n pick up n scrap all the weights in the gym. Same with the fire breathers head quarters gym. Then should have sufficient amount lead to craft a lot ammo. Just farm it when Eva you need ammo n don’t buy it from vendors

The biggest thing I can recommend is TAGGING COMPONENTS. Go to your Pip-Boy, on the menu you can sort by component. I recommend NEVER keeping more than 200 of ANY component. If you are not using a component, like bone, do not keep significant quantities. Just get rid of it. Do not be afraid to junk things like wood, steel, and cloth and lump them on the ground. Go to the first Overseer's camp and drop them, maybe others will make use of it. Vendors don't reset enough to keep up with the amount of steel and wood you will obtain. Your "AID" category is actually your enemy. Water will bog you down. DO NOT PICK UP BOILED WATER. It can be collected at any river, and it is very weighty. Without perk cards stimpacks and rad-away will take up a LOT of room. You will want to pick up everything you can. DO NOT. Do not let your items settle in your bank. Convert your copper to fusion cells, your gunpowder to ammo, etc. Until they increase your stash size, be judicious about what you grab. Do collect beer bottles, though, they don't get scrapped by default and will net at least 1 cap per bottle. The value of the bottles increases greatly if you have Pack Rat.

It took me a while to realize the reason my inventory was always full was because I had 1k wood and metal. Dropping everything down to one or two hundred max made an amazing difference. Now I'm pretty much only scavenging for screws and electronics.

Once you start getting weight related perks it becomes less of a problem but yeah it is real annoying how often you have to empty your inventory, I suggest focusing on specific things to pick up rather than just everything or to not pick up as much if you know you'll be away from your c.a.m.p. for awhile

Learn to cook radtoad legs (+10 carry weight) and grilled radstags and/or Brahmin ribeye (+20 carry weight). Better to have both; eat the radtoad leg FIRST, then the grilled radstag/ribeye; get +35 carry weight.

the more I scrap/mod/craft the less annoyed I become with inventory. also keeping an eye on consumables and using them before they spoil and taking note to hold on to canned items saves from having to use stims as frequently . Informative video!

The perk card that improves the effects of canned dog food is very handy. I find it more often than meat, it seems. If I'm low on food stuffs, I head back to Flatwoods and snag those Brahmin.

Yeap and now i have 90 cans of dog food and 160 stimpacks, im just annoyed that the rad away weight is bugged with the traveling chemist perk cause i was holding 110 of them. they weigh 0.25 when they should weigh 0.05 or 0.005 or something with traveling chemist rank 3

Let food spoil if you dont eat it. You can use it to make raw fertilizer, which you can use to grow crops at your base, so you have a near constant supply of food ❤ (and whatever you dont eat, you can just use for fertilizer again)

When you collect water, you don't have to wait through the whole sound/animation/notification. Just hammer away 20 times, get 20 water. Maybe that's common knowledge but I just stumbled on it about 20 hours in... =)

Here's a few tips I can offer after playing quite a bit. For an easily placed base, try starting with just one foundation on the ground and a stairway up to a second floor where your real base is. If you're having trouble with insufficient resources to rebuild your blueprinted base after moving your camp, check the "stored" section for chunks of your base stored as blueprints, then go through and delete those auto-save blueprints while storing all the parts, after which you can rebuild your blueprint with stored parts. Here's a couple tips for temporarily lightening your load to fast travel, if you're overencumbered by just a bit. First, if you have one or more power armor chassis in your inventory that you don't want to equip, just deploy them and then fast travel. They will automatically recall to your inventory and be there when you load in at your destination. Also, keep a couple Buffouts and Whiskeys on hand. You can use either of these to increase your strength by 2, which will give you +10 carry weight while the effect lasts. There's a very small chance of addiction, but I use them often and have only had one addiction. Also, one more quick thing you can often do to reduce overall weight between your inventory and stash is craft ammo, assuming you've been collecting lead, steel, and gunpowder. You may be pleasantly surprised by just how much your weight goes down if you craft as much as you can.

It is helpful to boil when starting out, my suggestion is to get a water purifier in your c.a.m.p. as soon as possible though, it's overpowered how much you can get just from only like 3 purifiers and even 1 can sustain a solo player decently enough

Thanks for the tips! I didn't know that you could package up a suit of power armor. I was also not aware of the space bar providing a special based search. I had no idea you could level a stat and pick a card from a different special. That's going to be so handy in the future. Crafting leg and arm armor to break them down and get mods is so useful. The mods are incredibly helpful for a variety of builds. I personally like long ranged fighting and stealth. The muffled leg armor effect dramatically helps your sneaking, and the stabilized effect almost entirely removes scope sway. Head shots become much easier, and you can save your breath holding AP for closer range fighting when enemies come looking for you. Weighted arm mods are really important for a melee build, as is the pneumatic chest mod. I bulk package junk religiously and only keep a maximum of 10 stacks in my stash. When I run below 5 or something, I start collecting it again. I also keep perishable food and drink on my person, as well as healing items and ammo. That way I'm not running out in the field, and I always know when and if I need to craft or buy more.

Once you hit level 15, you MUST have a black powder rifle, it's one of the most op early guns.

I play with a couple other people regularly, and one thing we have learned is to share resources. One of our group always fast travels to the spot we are planning to go to. Then the rest of us can free travel to her. I will then set my camp up nearby in a relatively safe location for us to retreat to after we are finished. It’s a home away from home for us all. It has a two square footprint, so it fits pretty much any where, but has a larger upper floor with all the crafting and work/rest/defense space we need. Others can share in the costs by crafting ammo, chems, mods, or whatever. We have developed a really good team, and we have learned to work together for the benefit and fun of all. The starched genes perk won’t come up until level 30, and it’s not guaranteed unless you have two levels of it, so don’t waste time or money on mutations before level 31, because you’re going to lose them. If you are saving money to buy mutation serums, here’s a tip. Don’t spend over 500 caps for a serum. You can find people all over selling serums for 250, 300, or 350 caps. If you’re just not finding any, and suddenly someone shows up who has the serum you want, and they’re asking 500, well, yeah, I’d buy it. And I have bought serums for 500. Because they can really add to the fun. Best mutations everyone should get: #1 is marsupial. You can avoid a melee attack and death by simply jumping above the enemy. Or you can get up to a fine sniper location. #2. Speed demon. This doesn’t help if you’re overencumbered, which you will often be. But when you’re not, it gives you superior travel and reload speed. Other mutations are really player choice, although I highly recommend Healing Factor and either Carnivore or Herbivore. Herd mentality means you play better with friends, and adrenal reaction is like Red Bull. There’s many more, but they are really up to the playing style of the individual.

Some pjeces of your advice are very useful to anyone starting the game without friends. However, I recommend to hold on to a friend who is mu h more advanced than level 50. Hete is what they can do for you (when you both are a team, mind you) : 1) Make an improved weapon for you AND give you a bit of ammo for it. Levels 1 to 15 - a good sniper version of the hunting rifle. Level 15 onwards: an upgraded handmade gun (recommended is automatic, not single shot). Hour friend will have to give you 5.56 ammo to go with it - ideally 5K. 2) Your friend should tour you to the most important places in the map! Ghiz is a very slow process, but he will be spending caps and you will not, becsuse traveling to a friend is free. This can eazily take two days of gaming. Then, you'll be on your feet to progress. 3) Your friend may have ton of mods, plans and recipes lying around, that you'll use to gain more crafting mastery. 4) Your friend should give you an intial amount of 1,500 caps, 2500 will be more than enough. You'll spend most of it later for traveling on your own - to the destinations you now will already know. FINALLY: THIS GAME IS NOT WORTH IT UNLESS YOU HAVE FALLOUT 1RST - WHICH IS PAID IN THE SAME FASHION AS WARCRAFT - A MONTHLY FEE. You'll find out about this on your own. One last advice: go to places with Supermutants in the forest with your fully upgraded sniper rifle, as a way to get both XP, weaponry, ammo and materials. My goto place for this are the Prison and the Damn , but, once you get the key (easy with the friend) you can not only farm it for mats, as well as gain XP and do the Mad Dog Malone quest that comes up frequently.

i've been playing with my partner and find it's useful to keep our camps as far apart as possible. and to also specialize what each camp is doing. her camp is near water and has a large water purifier. i have a resource extractor so i've been setting my camp up near resource veins. not sure if these are tips... but there's been a lot of stuff that i thought was missing that was just buried someplace or the label didn't make since to me. - voice chat options are under settings not social. i hate that the game defaults to local voice chat without any notification of this. - you can "Store" stored camp structures to break them apart. i didn't even notice the "Store" option when looking at stored structures i couldn't place. i was looking for break apart or scrap. and probably a lot more that i just can't remember. the UI has been a constant source of annoyance. like the confirm popup for leaving crafting stations resulting in an exit, cancel exit loop. especially if i'm getting attacked. they don't do this for scrapping so that's good at least.

It's been a year and a half, but another tip: If you find yourself constantly over-encumbered and keep losing your AP, keep sugar on you. Use the sugar to recover your AP so you can continue walking at a normal pace. It might lead to diabetes [not really], but it should be good to help you get to that next workbench to scrap your stuff.

Fantastic vid. Much thanks, good sir! Adding on to your tip about strength perks... Very important to most build styles to rank inventory weight perks up at least every other lvl up. Stay away from pack rat, as you can easily find a work bench. Sturdy frame, bandolier, traveling pharm are far better imo.

Saving higher-level weapons is one of my problems in F76. So, I'm trusting you, man! I'll scrap them as soon as I log in. ;) Good collection of tips, especially about storing power armor.

Yeah, scrap them. The loot table changes every 5 levels so the frequency of weapons and armor that match your level increase as your level does. So if you know which enemies in which locations drop specific weapons (i.e the molemen in the mining area carry a multitude of shotguns) you can always go back and wipe a bunch of them out when you're a higher level to get the weapon again.

Update: Scrapping them cleared up a BUNCH of stash space. And since we cannot display collectibles (yet), I'm scrapping those too, since I know where to get them again.

On the subject of the Inventory keep an eye on the Misc tab because you might pick up some useless Burnt Textbooks which weigh one pound each. If you use nearly all melee weapons like me , dump surplus ammo and especially Gunpowder which is heavy. In the Aid tab bottles of Wine, Bourbon etc weigh one pound each so either drink them first or drop them. Kill Brahmin and Radstags to make Steaks which grant you an extra +20 carry weight. Making a steak from Glowing meat gives +10 damage using melee weapons. With Vendors, remember that Grape Mentats still work as they did in Fallout 4 and reduce prices by about 10%. If you need money find a place with a lot of Super Mutants like Lewisburg and wipe them out. Each one normally carries 3 or more caps.

Woo just hit level 30! Another tip- Always take the power armor, even if you already have it. You can scrap it for ballistic fiber which is hard to come by (it can only be obtained from I think military grade duct tape and ammo bags), and you're going to need it to repair armor.

That luck perk that lets you keep the mutation actually requires 2 luck. 1 luck only gets you a chance to not mutate. If you don't want to mutate, then you have to get rank 2 of the perk.
