I love that you make a point of talking about how he's...actually started to show signs he's learning and maturing. It even ties into your bit about his speech patterns and his tendency to make everything very thick and complicated to shut out the ignorant -- in the Broly movie he's actually much more patient in the original Japanese than the dub when Goku interrupts him because he can't understand a word he used. He stops, he slows down, he simplifies. That's a level of deference he wouldn't have had the patience for pre-Namek.

another point about his maturity that i really like is(i don't know if it's been u.s released since i saw it on kanzenshuu.) but in a manga sidestory they actually show why he isn't getting involved in the moro arc so far,basically it being him realizing he should choose when to get fully involved in stuff and deciding to repair the remains of his empire while leaving things to the saiyans/galactic patrol.(which is funnily portrayed by that nanny of frieza also showing his patience since the old one wouldve immediately shot someone interrupting him.really strangely shows him changing to where he'll obviously still go after the saiyans but is wise enough to leave the earth alone to avoid getting sent to his personal hell again.)

@@tracyndiyob162 There's something a little twisted going on with Beriblu (the nanny -- and I absolutely believe that was her old job when he was a kid; much of his current army is made up of vets from his dad's time that he pulled out of retirement). You see it in the Broly movie too -- she knows how to get under his skin. And I didn't miss that she frequently makes sure she's floating above his eye level when she does this. That's deliberate. That's something she picked up from his father, guaranteed.

About your mentioning of Freiza's Race and their Bio Armour: Didn't Xenoverse specify that those armour's are made of their natural body tissues which they have learned to manipulate and modify their tissues? I know one set of armour is supposedly made by members of the species fusing their body tissues with cybernetics.

That's one of the things that makes Goku VS Frieza so iconic. When they fight, it's not just about them. It's a war on class. Frieza in Japanese depicted as sophisticated and educated. Whereas Goku is a pure hearted, simple farm boy. These types of things do get lost in localization.

We did see Freeza without his armour before when he broke it off before his 1st transformation against Vegeta. Vegeta even made a comment about breaking off the armour and getting a little bigger was not much of a transformation.

Really am enjoying the Frieza week X3 If i had to choose who to do a week for next, i think id go with Buu, just in general. Buu is still a rather mysterious blobgenie, and theres never a lot going around him, especially when super kept dropping the ball with him =.....= Srsly, not getting buff/fit buu in the tourny of power is probably the biggest disappointment in the entire series for me.

Yes, a large part of Frieza's presence is "MISTER RYUSEI NAKAO"s iconic voice. Which between Horikawa, Wakamoto and Nakao all having iconic (pigeon-holed) voices, is a thing that really helps DBZ's first set of villains. (Even if Nakao is the only one where I think of their DBZ character when I hear their voice in other productions)

My question about Freeza was going to be where his armor ends and his body begins (also, are we sure this is how you spell it)? And my Dad's question was "Why is he British?". Listening to the sub in Super, I can tell he had a British-like dialect, and sounded a bit more mature than he did back on Namek. I was at first in disbelief but actually impressed by the deepening of his character. He was so shallow back on Namek, but to be willing to work with former enemies for the promise of a reward later, all after that long con on Frost, was definitely a surprise. I'm just glad he's still a villain after all that. One so complicated that I can't even tell if he's lying about what he'd wish for. I really think he's cooking up a plan to piss off Zen-noh. ...The memes though. "I wish I was a little bit taller, I wish I was a baller."

I always get miffed at the 5 minute thing. People say “they’re just fighting that fast” but I don’t think so. I think it’s more about time relativity. What we perceive as a minute, can be equivalent to a different amount of time for an alien race that has a faster or slower orbit cycle. So a minute for frieza could be equal to 30 minutes for humans

Considering that Gotenks and Buu also had a "5 Minute" fight that on screen lasted for much longer the Goku v Frieza "5 minutes" likely was 5 Earth minutes.

6:51, I know everyone likes to make jokes about the longest 5 minute fight between frieza and goku, but this is just a case of things being slowed down for the audience, Because if it was in real time, We wouldn’t see the fight at all, this is a problem for almost all action based anime, people think that what there seeing is real time movement(not everyone ), but it’s not, it’s slowed, for example Hercule and the regular people are seeing it in real time and couldn’t see the cell vs goku fight at all, and only saw them when they stopped moving to talk, heck even some of the z fighter there couldn’t see it But, that fight was way to long, lol I understand slowing things down for the audience, but not that long

I mean... this already happened at near the very start of DBZ with Piccolo explaining to Gohan how to use his ki to "see" Yamcha fight a Saibaman. Heck, we can even go back further to the original Dragonball where Krillin and Roshi had an extended fight, complete with rock paper scissors match, and it happened so fast the audience couldn't see any of it, so they had to take a minute out of the fight to explain and show what actually happened.

Here's a fun fact I worked out (if a minor one) Cell is proof that Frieza's finger and toe nails are naturally black (i.e. that's not a manicure). Cell of course has black nails, which he clearly gets from his Frieza DNA (since no other DNA has them). Every time Cell reaches a new form, he grows another finger (Imperfect, has 3 semi has 4, Perfect has 5). Since this happens mid battle and his nails are still black on the new fingers, that must be their natural color, and therefore Frieza's as well.

Some people will probably want me burned at the stake for this but: Linda Young was a terrible Freiza! She made him sound like a woman in her 60's who's been smoking 20 a day everyday since she was 17. Chris Ayers,Damon Mills and Ryūsei Nakao are the best Freiza voice actors. The three of them nail it for him. They make him sound cold,uppity yet polite and intimidating all at the same time.
