If you took out all of the side plots with the humans, the main story of Garlic Jr saga was actually one of the best in DB imo, especially when factoring in his backstory from the first Z movie. It was the first time we got a taste of the Z warriors having to come up with a win on their own due to Goku's lack of involvement, and also gave us some nice foreshadowing for Gohan being capable of rising to the occasion and being the Earth's hero in the place of his dad - I miss that Gohan.

It is still possible to involve Garlic Jr. with Dende; if his father was indeed a candidate to be the guardian of earth, then he might have seen himself as next in line when Kami were to pass the torch. He might view Dende as a usurper of the throne that should be rightfully his. Dealing with him might also require Piccolo to call upon Kami in a more direct way...

Honestly i really want Janemba to be more developed. In the movie he was basically a more powerful Buu/Kid Buu. With his powers to be able to warp reality and what not, I feel he could have became better if put in a different situation. I always wondered what if it was Janemba that was sealed away instead of Buu. Just how much damage would he cause.

Although you have touched the other movie and underdeveloped villains before, I'm still waiting on a real focus video on Cooler. The big brother of the galactic emperor seems so interesting to me, considering that Cooler doesn't hold himself in Frieza's court, like most royalty story dynamics. There is so little we know bout Frieza's race, and Cooler could be our guide and insight. Frieza cannot be redeemed, but Cooler is a blank slate. So many possibilities.

I liked him just fine. The question you should be asking is "What if Garlic Jr was a *smart* character?"...he'd have won. take away the deadzone thing and you're left with an immortal villain. Which would actually be a cool thing in dragonball if it was handled correctly. Ya know, our heroes would actually have to think instead of just hitting things really hard. Hell, if nothing else they could have used fighting styles like judo that require almost no energy from the user to just stall out garlic until he got bored and left. Which i think would have been funny to watch. I mean, yes he's immortal and can theoretically keep fighting forever, but who's got that kind of patience? If you punch a brick wall and the only thing that happens is that you hurt your hand, it's time for a new strategy.

Unpopular opinion... I LOVE the Garlic Jr saga, and think it's highly underrated. There was so much good stuff in there. Gohan really got to be a bad ass at moments, Piccolo and Krillin have some team development, we see the Giant Namek form again. sure the first half is weak as hell, and the whole thing is far from perfect, but I still love it.

One could even imagine Pilaf eventually creating an uneasy alliance with them once learning of the existence of Freeza’s empire and how woefully inadequate Earth would be at the time to stand against its full might.

Maybe I'm just odd, but I actually liked the Garlic JR. saga. It was one of the few, and I mean FEW, arcs that didn't involve Goku coming in to save the day and Vegeta only making cameo appearances. Yeah it wasn't perfect, but I still liked it overall in fact I'll still break out the old VHS tape and watch it every once in a while! Your ideas are interesting though and might make a fun series, heck maybe fix it where Garlic comes back and takes on the Z warriors' kids, that might be fun!

I would like Super to adapt the Garlic Jr arc model for an entire arc. Have Goku and Vegeta train with Beerus or something so that the side characters actually get to fight a big bad and not just get 3 pages of a chapter to do "something cool". Plus, the enemy could be more like Abocado...would've been a threat but now can be handled by Piccolo and Gohan or Androids, etc. I'd like to see one of them get a win on a big bad, and not have dieties meddle. Let Krilin or Gohan win and gain confidence as a fighter again. Gohan had Cell, but he has fallen from grace since then. Krillin and Piccolo never beat the big bad, so that could be good character growth, too. Then bring Goku and Vegeta into the next arc with new abilities that feels earned, as it took a whole arc to achieve. I think it would please the audience and make new powers for Goku and Vegeta feel earned.

Neither one the arc or the movie is great but they are both alright. I mean people forget all of the krillen stuff that happens in the arc as well as really neat Gohan and Piccolo stuff.
