The way you’ve described the setting of Final Fantasy X was so precise and on point it’s crazy refreshing to hear someone say all those good things about it.

One game that makes me think of summer is Magna Carta. The characters are all dressed like they live somewhere tropical and the lighting in many areas makes me think of hot, humid summer days.
@GamingBroductions3 жыл бұрын
I've actually never played the first Magna Carta game, might have to go back and play it. I've only played the second one which isn't a bad game. I don't think I ever beat it, but remember having a decent time with it for awhile

I consider the Suikoden games summer games as well for the same reason, I got to play both games during summer break as a kid. Still try to replay them every few years. One game I also consider a summer game is Earthbound. The first time I fully played it as a kid was during summer and I try to regularly replay it when it needs my summer birthday. Summers / Scarabia especially have a great summer aesthetic.
@GamingBroductions3 жыл бұрын
The Suikoden games are great to replay due to their short length. Well, the first two at least. I could see how Earthbound would be another good one with its aesthetic. Tbh I have fairly little experience with it as I’ve only played through it once many years ago and for whatever reason I know I didn’t give it the proper attention it deserved at the time. It’s one I’ve been meaning to go back and revisit for awhile now, the channel might be a good excuse to do that

Fun fact, Grandia actually debuted on DreamCast. I'm sure not many other JRPG's did. I've been binging your content and love it! Lots of games I have yet to play. I wasn't really able to play many games as a kid, and recent fell in love with JRPG's when I picked up gaming. I've been playing through all the classics for the last 2 years, and you have helped me add more games to the list.

Great list!! I am actually on Grandia I (just downloaded it on sale from E-shop) and its fun! I am also set to finish Tales of Vesperia and I am also in the middle of Trails of Cold Steel IV. Summer is shaping up to be an enjoyable one! If I have time I have to finish or at least put in time on two other RPG titles I have on backlog that I took a break on - Dragon Quest XI and Trials of Mana. PS. I wanna download Legends of Mana, as well.

Looks like you're in the midst of some great games! I still need to catch up on the later Cold Steel games, I've only beaten the first two at this point. Speaking of Tales of Vesperia, I'll be playing a few games in the Tales series and releasing retrospectives on them over the coming months in preparation for the Tales of Arise release. Be on the lookout for those!

Wild Arms 5 ended up being one of my favorite entries in the series, right behind 2 (which REALLY needs a retranslation). If nothing else, Wild Arms 5 was fun to play through to encounter all the cameos from past Wild Arms characters and the cameo costumes you could unlock. It's also one of the only games in the series that made me cry from the ending. You should definitely give it another try!

Damn, with that type of review from someone else who considers WA2 as their favorite in the series it sounds like I may have put this one down too soon! I only played it for around 10 or so hours and remember being fairly distracted at that time of my life when playing it so I probably wasn’t in the most fair position to judge it. I’m going to revisit all the WA series at some point so I’ll give this one another go then

@@GamingBroductions I think the other part of it I loved was how insanely good the graphics hold up for being a PS2 game, especially the special combination attack animations and summons. The story's a bit cheesy at times, but I liked the way they tied everything together with Avril's role in the story. I think, for me personally, my order of favorites is : 2, 5, 1, 3, XF, and then 4 in absolute last place despite liking Raquel and Arnaud.

Personally I think Pokemon Sun and Moon and Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are 'tropical and summery' RPGs to play since they are monster collecting games most JRPG fans might be a little bit put off by the genre of the game in general but honestly I love Pokemon and many other monster collecting RPGs so there's nothing to hate about it.
@GamingBroductions3 жыл бұрын
Totally hear ya there, those ones are obvious choices when it comes to setting. Like you mentioned though, I know there's a good amount of people who don't consider Pokemon 'true JRPGs' in the same vein as others due to the monster collecting/building aspect so I decided to leave them out due to that reason. I do love Pokemon myself though even if I haven't played Sword/Shield yet. Moon was the last one I played actually, I had fun with it. Super random but if you like monster collecting RPGs you might look into checking out Monster Rancher 2 sometime, it's not an RPG and is more of a raising sim but it's a lot of fun I think

I think that all five Gensou Suikoden games are awesome. Even though the first is my favourite, I actually thought that it was the weakest in the series, but in a series like Gensou Suikoden, being the weakest doesn't mean much considering that each game has an awesome story, characters, battle system and music.

I'd say you should definitely give Person 4: Golden a try! Aside from an annoying new character that the game kinda shoves down your throat, it's an improvement to the original in practically every way. Easily one of the best enhanced editions to any game I've ever played.

This is what I hear. I know it gets praise all across the board when it comes to improvements over the original so I do really want to play it eventually. In fact I think that’s what we’ll plan on, might as well kill 2 birds with 1 stone!
