There are many in the hall of fame who NEVER even played in the NBA. The HOF is about one's contributions to the sport of basketball whether it be the NBA, overseas, college, or off the court.

Reshaped his career is a bit of a stretch. He won that 6th Man of The Year award in 85/86 where he averaged something like 7 points and 7 rebounds per game. They gave him that award because it was a feel good story. He played a full season on the best team in the league. If he'd had put up those same numbers and played 80 plus off the bench in San Diego. He wouldn't have even been mentioned for that award. If Rose ends up only averaging 14/4 this season but plays 70+ games off the bench, he won't win that award. The year Walton won the MVP he played 58 games. He never averaged 20 points a game in a season, only led the league in a major statistical category one time and was never the best player in the league at his position. With that said I believe he deserves his place in the HOF... BUT I believe that if he's in there is no possible way Hardaway, Chambers, Sid and KJ since he was not mentioned in this video should be on the outside looking in.

Daniel Salley the only thing about Ben Wallace is that he was terrible on offense, not a great rebounder or steeler, and isn’t a good passer. Yes but if that's the case then a lot of guys deserve to be in. He was a wonderful player at UCLA during the Wooden dynasty also in a era of less parity. 90% of the guys in the league were the man in college... He was good NBA player he only had two seasons where you could say he was elite and he only played 65+ games 3 times and 70+ once as a role player playing less then 20 minutes a game in Boston. Webber had a superior NBA career, so did Chambers. Penny was just as great at his peak and was also a cultural icon during a time of aggressive global growth for the league. That also is supposed to be taken into consideration. Hardaway inspired an entire generation of guards and had one of the most iconic moves in the history of the game. A move that guards today are still using. Mitch got in and had nowhere near as big of an impact on the growth and popularity of the game as Tim. Let go back to Chambers... The fact that he is not in is just appalling. Especially when looking at the game in context to current players. He was the ultimate modern stretch 4, 20 years before the definition of the modern stretch 4 was written. If Dirk could run like a guard and put his chin on the rim he'd have been Tom Chambers. He was an above the system player who put up elite numbers in what was probably the toughest era in the history of the league.

@@trainerrob1622 I agree with some of your points but your way off base with Bill Walton. He was one of the greatest players in NCAA history. The man was a 2x NCAA champion, 2x Final Four Most Outstanding Player, 3x first team All American, and a 3x National College Player of the Year. Those accomplishments alone make him a Hall of Famer and then you add his NBA accomplishments to the list (2x NBA Champ, a Finals MVP award, an NBA MVP award, and a 6th Man of the Year award). Very few people in the history of the game deserve to be in the Hall of Fame as much as Bill Walton. Remember it's the Basketball Hall of Fame not the NBA Hall of Fame. And as far as Penny being a cultural icon that's a major exaggeration. He was good and the Lil Penny commercials were funny but he was in no way an Icon.

Two words, Mark Aguirre! Career averages of 20 PPG, 5 RPG, 48.4 FG% and a two time champion with the bad boy Pistons. Helped put the Mavericks on the map in their infancy with some insane seasons, including one where he averaged 29.5 PPG on better than 52% from the field, 5.9 RPG and 4.6 APG. Unfortunately since his electric play didn't result in too many wins and his stats while good we're less impressive in Detroit he made only 3 all star appearances, but that to me should still count for a hall of fame career.

Update (September 2021): Sindney Moncrief, Jack Sikma, Chris Webber & Ben Wallace are in! I feel like the next guy to get inducted will be Penny Hardaway (as a "Fringe" inductee). Tom Chambers might make it as well. Unfortunately, Larry Foust has been retired for 5 decades and even though he has a HoF Probability of 94%, time has already forgotten about him and he will never get inducted. As for Tim Hardaway, the reason he gets rejected every year is his history with Homophobia, but only time will tell if he gets in.

With Mo Cheeks getting in recently, hoping the hall finally gives Bobby the call.

C Webb deserves the Hall but how you gonna say he is "arguably one of the top 3 power forwards" when he made all NBA 5 TIMES. That makes him undoubtedly one of the best 3 PFs in his era there really shouldn't be a debate about CWebb. Also his "college scandal" in NOWHERE NEAR the "worst in history".

Not the worst in history, but it already damaged his reputation on how hof saw his external influence. Penny Hardaway vs Bill Walton debate is a bad comparison because one, yes Walton did win a Championship but he was also a Finals MVP as well as the regular season MVP. Plus, Walton played for those great UCLA teams in the 70s and won 2 college titles and 3 college player of the year honors. Walton was an elite college player and this is a basketball HOF not NBA HOF so his college achievements played a major factor getting Walton in. Hmm, i would say maybe Grant Hills career was more similiar to Waltons and not Penny's.
