Nikolaj Coster-Waldau was around 40 at the time and Lena Headey at least in late 30s - which worked as Joffrey was the age that she could have had a child at. I suppose they didn't want to do another actor change in HOTD though. Jace and Rhaenyra also do not work age wise, although there is a but bigger age difference

I can barely tolerate the Northern American accent. Down South, the women don't raise the pitch of their voices to a whiny screech. No insult. Upper England sounds more like posh Southerners. Sometimes casting a 27yo to play a 20yo can work. And sometimes, casting a 28yo to play a 34yo can work. What doesn't work is when those two are supposed to play son and mother. In Game of Thrones, Catelyn and Sansa really looked like mother and daughter. In House of the Dragon, I see Alicent and Helaena together and I don't even think they look related, let alone that one is the mother of the other.
