@@stephaniebaker6001 probably not, alot of animals that can do things like detach limbs rarely seem bothered by it. pain is a natural response designed to make us avoid certain behaviors so it doesnt make sense from a evolution standpoint for a necessary thing to hurt. It's like how your nails and hair: your nails and hair are designed to replenish over time and fall out/break off over time so it doesnt hurt as long as we dont try to rush the process along by tearing out your hair/nails before they're ready. Besides, invertebrates dont seem to feel pain the same way we do; I've seen a spider and several crabs that have torn off damaged limbs and barely seemed to react, including a crab that lost a leg and then came back a little later and seemed to nibble on it.

I love the variety of all the spiders. Thank you for such an amazing episode today. In my home, I don't kill off the spiders when I spot them, they're my pest control system for flies & such in the summertime. Those are truly an annoyance! Unlike spiders. Only webs without spiders or dead spiders get swept away. No reason to fear them. 😁

A big problem is that a lot of footage requires permission, and if they intend to cover 5 or so creatures each video like this, then gathering permission for 5 or so pieces of film can delay videos. Some people and/or organizations guard their footage carefully and it can take a lot of back and forth sometimes. Also, keep in mind that these are not the only videos they make, they have a second channel and need to do research, write scripts, and that is after they decide what to make the video on.

I had a similar experience when I was 13. It was the last night staying in my apartment before moving. As I'm laying in bed I feel something crawl on me. I looked and saw this huge ass spider. In a panic I quickly brushed it off me and jumped out of bed. I ran into the living ro and decided to sleep on the couch. As I try to settle down and fall back to sleep laying there looking at the hallway that leads back to my bedroom. I then see a shadow on the wall of something crawling down the hallway. The shadow disappears and I think maybe it's gone. I'm laying there frozen couch. I glance over at the arm rest and the spider is crawling up the arm rest towards me. I jumped off the couch at that moment and took my toy lightsaber I had at the time and started to assault the spider. Definitely one of my scariest childhood moments with an insect.

It joins the also recently described Blue Tier Funnel Web spider of Tasmania that sports the largest fangs of any spider, large than those of most venomous snakes.

I've been an arachnophil for many years, but the Giant House Spider is the ONE that can scare me to death if I see it on a wall behind my shoulder. It's that darn speed that freaks me out! 😵

I love spiders! Especially jumping spiders! They are so cute and I had a pet jumping spider named Jeremy that lived for about 4 months I cried for weeks after he died but he was a better pet than the other ones I’ve had in the past and I hope he’s jumping and having fun in the stars now

@@AllonKirtchik Now, imagine 10000 of them all hatching at once from a single egg sack. 10 thousand little fuzzy things with half the legs that you can barely see - terrifying if you know what I'm talking about.

E2qNX8btraQ3zRD6J7fc of course, like with cat-sized cats, that’s exactly why the “egg-sack” needs to be removed! I’d also say it’s less scary and more a logistical nightmare - as if herding cats isn’t bad enough!

That net-casting spider is adorable. The eyes are so goofy, I love it. And what the hell is the pelican spider? It looks like... I don't even know what it looks like, but definitely not the "spider" I think of.

I used to bring a couple brown house spiders into my home in CO and make sure they made their little tunnels behind furniture. Especially in my basement. They made excellent pest control! I'd rather see a large spider scuttling around than the millipedes that often got into our basement. Those actually bite real hard! I'd even take a captured millipede to the spider den and drop it by the entrance just to watch her pop out and drag it in. They always kept our home pest free!

I'm guessing they renamed "Portia Spiders" to be Fringed Jumping Spiders, because the portias were also famous for stalking other spiders with primary and backup plans as well as object permanence and complex navigating routes to prey they lose sight of during the approach.

I grade spiders on a bell curve. The X-axis is size and the Y-axis is hairness. The biggest, hairiest spiders (like tarantulas) are pretty cool. The smallest, fuzziest spiders (like peacock spiders) are kinda cute. Everything in between, which tend to be hairless, need to be killed with fire.

Yes, I find spiders amazing! What I especially like about them is that they don't eat your food like flies, ants, roaches and other bugs do, they eat the bugs that eat your food.⚠️

"Keep in mind, if you see one of these spiders running, they are probably running away from you." Charging my feet is a very weird way to go about running away from me. Just sayin'. I tried to be a tolerant room mate but I have to draw the line at charge attacks.

The pelican spider is Nightmare fuel for spiders, the way spiders are for arachnofobes. I imagine spider scary stories around a campfire, talking about the Stalking Long Necked Mutant from hell that impales you on his huge tusk-like fangs and enjoys seeing you impaled, struggling for your life, while the venom slowly does its thing.
