I would have never thought of club black as a classic but after smelling my decant, I get. It's simple. But really well done. Masculine from that incense note, sweet without being cloying, and inviting.

Good list. I would add Acqua Di Gio and Bleu de Chanel to the list as well. Those aren’t going away any time soon.

For the price you can't beat Asad. I'll have to get the Jazz Club decant or the clone dupe. Neat - o.

LOVE my super cheapie bottle of Asad! It’s just so good, and basically free really Much more wearable than DSE, even though that one is of super high quality and for sure, the most beast mode frag I’ve ever smelled…too much really for almost any setting, except for big open events or clubbing
@ScentsofStyle99
@ScentsofStyle99 Ай бұрын
It's funny but I have heard that a LOT - about it being too much. And given the price and the beast mode nature of the fragrance it makes sense to have something like Asad around for more casual wear.

i bought sauvage elixir 6 months ago after going thru about 5 clones. Im pretty amazed how similar Asad is...to the point of being redundant.//people go on about the sweetness and coffee note but its pretty subtle...and i swear Asad has bigger life and projection

I find the Sauvage opening to be very different. The rest is close but that blast of fresh lavender that I pick up on the opening is nice & puts a tiny bit of the Sauvage DNA in Elixir.

Solid video dude. Great list. 👍 I would like to see a video about fragrances you wish you had more of. (Instead of a little bottle). Or fragz you'll buy again, despite your large collection.

I think the Oud Wood by TF, is a classic standing DNA, very elegant, but at the same time not ages 😅 Also the Royal Oud by Creed or Penhaligon's Sartorial. On the designer scent, is lot of scents, Acqua di Parma have a lots, like Essenza or Mandorlo di Sicilia, or Bleu de Chanel, the Chanel Le Lion, Antaeus, the Versace Pour Homme, Eros, Dylan Blue Etc 😊

I hear you, but it's odd how some classics and styles fade and yet something as simple as Brut is all over Walmart. Old Spice is 85 years old and is really nothing special and yet it's lasted, and some genuine classics like Gucci pour Homme 2 have faded. glad you mentioned Mandorlo di Sicilia - that's one of my favourites.

What is your opinion on Dolce & Gabbana pour homme, the original up until they changed the formula in 2010.

One of the problems of 20th century fragrances were that they often smelled alike because there were only so many things you could do with herbs and woods. The OG D& G (which smells quite similar but not as deep as the reformulated version) was more intense than the traditional citrus aromatic. I'm not sure if it's the tobacco but it smelled different, more intense and ultimately more masculine. It's a classic.

Santal 33 is ridiculously priced even with discounter level prices rivaling other designer niche houses.
@ScentsofStyle99
@ScentsofStyle99 Ай бұрын
Yes, it's one of the most expensive Fragrances on the market. That's the main reason fragcomm hates it. I would have had a bottle long ago if it was just expensive instead of ridiculously expensive, but the outrageous price is a draw for some people

Versace is weird when it comes to edps & Parfums. Eros is the only one that has them. No edp for Dylan Blue, Oud Noir, Flame or pour homme. Hopefully they have an eros Elixir but That's one house that may go without one

Please no elixir, unless it's a legitimate one😅 I hope Versace come out with a 'PURPLE' fragrance next, something new, risky, bold, and dangerous.

Great thumbnail. Very alluring. I wear Brut regularly. I have a bottle of Polo that’s 35 years old. You left off Old Spice and Pinaud Clubman (founded 1810). And of course No 6 by Caswell, worn by George Washington. Will any of these approach those classics? And if you haven’t tried them, please do. Clubman and the flankers are wonderful.

Old Spice & Chanel No 5 were part of my intro and then cut for time & because they were just too iconic. I was going more for lesser classics - 50 years rather than 100 years because old spice is 85 & nothing's going to touch it. I have mentioned Pinaud Clubman a few times on the channel before bcause it's a true icon although sadly I haven't tried it. Those old Polo bottles go for $200 & up on ebay & I have to get one at some point because even the watered down bottles send chills down my spine.

@@ScentsofStyle99 you are missing out with Clubman. It’s an aftershave but lasts a decent amount of time. Limesec and Citrus Musk are good too. Be very wary of their bay rum however, it will burn your face off. It’s the strongest bay rum I’ve ever used. Oh and I have a 35 year old bottle of Polo Crest, which I just found out they stopped making years ago. Polo was the club scent of my youth, which was circa 1983-1987, the college years.

@@ericgordon4746 I have a bottle of No 6 and it’s a great citrus vevitver scent. Similar to 4711. And tome, by the fireplace smells like a campfire. It’s very similar to Tom Ford Mettalique. I don’t care for the scent, probably because I’ve burned wood for heat many times in my life and don’t view wood smoke as a perfume. Jazz Club is terrific however.

Santal 33 is indeed a masterpiece , but has become so popular and cloned that you smell it literally everywhere, and the fact that it´s unisex adds up to it; at least here in latinamerica you can smell it in every corner.

In Canada it's popular if you have money, but otherwise it's Sauvage you smell everywhere which is a shame. I'd rather smell Santal 33. If you don't mind me asking, what's a good clone of it? It's not super popular on KZbin & I don't know of any good clones.

@@ScentsofStyle99 A good alternative of S33 is Bravo Monsieur by El Ganso, not exactly a clone but it has the same vibe, more woody and less sweet , a little more masculine. But here in Central America and Mexico there is a company named "Fraiche", they manufacture dupes of designer fragances and some famous niche ones, their catalog is pretty extensive, around 200 fragances I would say, they sell them for around $15 the 100ml bottle. Usually the scent is about 75% to 85% close , but in some cases they knock it out of the park. Almost all people here buy the originals to use in special ocasions and then get the corresponding dupe for everday use. So.. that´s the reason why everybody wears Santal around here haha, the downside is that it makes the scent lose it´s exclusivity.

I REALLY appreciate you taking the time to answer me on this because I will definitely be pursuing it. Clones of Santal 33 aren't big where I am because most clone houses we have access to are middle eastern & focus on oriental style clones more than woody ones.

I like Jazz Club but I don't think it's that unique. Santa 33 to me is really nice but I do think it's subtle at least with 3 or 4 sprays but in a good way with good performance. I get what you say about Dior Sauvage but, at least for me, it was boring until I tried the parfum which is the only one of the line that I love and have (traded the original). Nice list.

Yes, I suppose Santal 33 could be mild if underspraying, but it is very strong and sharp to my nose and after trying it myself a bit, I can understand the point the article writer made, especially when it tends to be worn by trendsetters who like to get noticed

Brut is like mouthwash made into a splash on lotion for men! I'll stick with Old Spice for all day use (I use both the aftershave and splash on lotion) it is the Classic of Classic fragrances for men who are Men and not men of questionable masculinity. Have you ever tried or even reviewed some of Victorinox's fragrances for Men? I was gifted a bottle of Black Steel by a lady friend. Its not bad but the scent is supposed to be for a night out rather than its day to day companion fragrance Steel, which I think is slightly more long lasting after having sniffed a sampler of it at my local Victorinox dealer
