Hey Aunt Vickie! You did a great job on your video! I wanted to say how sweet it is that you agree that your daughter should have what she wants in a car. She definitely has been through a lot in her young life, probably making her wise beyond her years and responsible. I'm glad she got to do that. You have some great ideas on how to not spend money. I wanted to share what I've had to do since becoming disabled and not working at 63. Somehow, God willing, I got my cell phone bill down to $14.00 a month. That lasted 4 months and then it went up to $20.00, but hey! I'll take it. I called my internet provider and got the lowest speed they have. I notice no difference and it cut my bill from $69 down to $35. Finally, I researched and found a much cheaper electric company that probably saves me around $70 a month. It can be done but it takes some work. I sorry this is so long!!! My gosh! lol...Love you and your videos. You get better every day, girl!

Everything you mentioned I am exactly the same. I haven't bought retail clothes in years! I drive a 2004 SUV. The only time I wear makeup is when I have to. We don't have a home phone either, just our cells. We are just not materialistic. I'm like Paul wrote that we can be happy with a lot or nothing. My husband and I are both retired and live on a fixed income. Brooke has taught me about saving money on groceries which it has helped a lot. I enjoy your channel..I love to craft and I by a lot of crafting stuff at Dollar Tree. I and my husband are native Mississippians..born and raised in Natchez, MS. We are just good ole southerners! Hi Aunt Vickie!! I also don't pay for TV streaming services. I got myself a Roku for my BD last Sept for $25 (on sale), and watch the free shows & free live channels. I mainly got it for the local TV stations for the local news. When I could drive, before my stroke in 2013, I didnt drive a new car either. Always bought used. I think the newest one was my 2001 Chevy Malibu in 2008, and I traded for it. Today my mobility scooter was bought for me by a friend, and it was used when he got it & gave it to me in May 2021. My manual wheelchair is going on 8 years old, and I've upgraded the brakes once. You & Brooke both have great lists, Great Job!! ☺️❤

I truly enjoyed your suggestions, your experience and your wisdom that you gained by your life path. My journey is similar. I too was a stay at home mom with a child who had asthma which caused many visits to hospitals and specialist and Dr appointments. He is living life well. Definitely a different lifestyle. My second child had medical issues that caused different complications and stress but he is grown and living life well. Our family had No vacations, canceled home phone, canceled satellite service, no new car and no new furniture. I can relate. But all those obstacles made me who I am today and I wouldn’t change it for the world. Would I love new furniture yes. Would I love a new vehicle yes. Would I love to go on vacation yes. But reality is what it is. Aunt Vickie Keep Sharing Your Life’s Adventures and Story. I Appreciate You. Keep Shining.

Hey Aunt Vicky. You did great. We do the same, except a vacation and the landline. We still have ours for business reasons. On vacation we still do 99% of our own cooking and only go for a few days. There are so many things to cut back on to save money. It’s the little things that add up to a lot of money saved. We only have one car. Once a month I take my husband to work and run all my errands then. We’ve saved about $500 a month that way in car related expenses.

Great video and suggestions to save money. We have similar stories growing up.We dont go out for dinner or to the show or take vacation away from home, any extra cash I can make repurposing thirifed furnature, tables dressers and mirrors goes towards feed for animals that have been injured and dropped off at our small farm we rent. Animals of all kinds are welcome,so rewarding when nursing them back to health and setting them free..try for sharing your story.❤

Love your channel, we also do the same frugal things as you. New clothes are usually from Christmas mostly we buy thrifted clothes. We do like going camping for vacations, my hubby knows to find free campgrounds (helps that he was a scoutmaster for decades lol). Our cars are used and paid with cash. We also do our own car and home maintenance. When our kids were growing up the free library was our best friend! There is nothing wrong with saving up for what you want so you don't go into debt. There's nothing wrong with getting gently used clothes, furniture, cars or whatever to save money and not go into debt. People need to stop worrying about what other people think because most likely they are in the same boat as you. Good video Aunt Vicki!!

Dear aunt Vickie, I understand what you have said. I am the same way and so is my husband. Even my crafting items I find at Rose Store or thrift store , I recycle things to sell. I do buy hair dye and get my hair cut twice a year. But I cut my guys hair, they don't mind it. I also / we watch a lot of KZbin. I love cooking and craft shows. Also, mystery and comedy movies. The only thing my husband does enjoy is going to a baseball game. We don't drink or party , we are home body's. I have been blessed because on our second date we went to church so we knew then that we were going to be good together. We have been married 31 years in June 12. We have known each other 32 years on March 30. My husband was a college professor and 😂in was nursing when we met. He is 4 years younger than I am but we both believe and think almost the same way . I think you did a great job. Many of the things you listed are exactly what I've done and still do. The reason I still do them is out of necessity. I've been watching a lot of KZbin movies this week. I also enjoy true crime and listen to free podcasts on my phone and watch them on a few streaming networks. I learned to thrift my clothes from my mom because I grew up wearing them that way. I'm retired and on disability so, my income is limited. If I don't save then, I wont have and that's how I live my life. It's just me and my cat and we get on well and are happy with what we've got. I buy nice things for my grandkids, but I'm still thrifty. I buy during sales and after holidays and put things away until an occasion comes up for giving gifts. So, I may buy birthday gifts 6 months early or buy Christmas 8 months early, but they get useful and frugal gifts. People who can afford it should spend however they see fit, as you say in your video. I believe that, too. I just found Brook's channel earlier today and I'm glad to have found yours, as well.

Thank you Aunt Vicky. You’re a lot like me. I’m into crafts and don’t subscribe to anything. What I have found in the last few years what was Salvation Army and other thrift shops? Their prices have gone up so much you can actually buy brand-new at the warehouse. I don’t know if you got one in America it’s kind of I don’t know what it would be like, but everything is sort of a cut price also online, there’s a few shops online that you can get brand-new for like $20 or less and this is in New Zealand dollars so it’s like a dollar is like 1 1/2 times less than your dollar so you get more for your dollars than what we get for our dollar hope put that right. I do see what Brooke gets for her money is a lot more than what I would get like for instance say I bought a cauliflower it could cost me $12 here and I only have $120 a week to live on, so if you dividethat into an American dollar oh my God I’m lost here. I’ll have to look at the conversion rate won’t be a moment. Right $1 NZ equals $1.61 US. So your $. Has depreciated since I kicked it. A month ago was a lot higher single money is coming down. Just surprised at how much the dollar has dropped US dollars. There is.

We don’t have a Salvation Army in my town but we do have one a little over an hrs away I go to sometimes. My fave is probably the Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore about an hr away. I always find lots of goodies there as well as wood and building supplies

I don't buy paper towels I buy napkins maybe once a year a 200 pack. When I eat out I ask for extra napkins and condiments or if inside I grab extra. They become my Kleenex and emergency stash for gas station bathrooms I don't buy paper plates it's just me so I don't have to. I buy multi purpose cleaner so I don't have to have something different for my tub toilet and floors and counters unless an issue arises. My sister uses vinegar and frebreeze in her mop water and to clean with. I fill my gas tank once a month and use public transportation much of the time. I have my doctor's put everything in prescription form because it then can be used as a medical expense and I can use that expense for Medicaid and snap benefits qualifications. I don't have tv subscription but I do have Kindle I don't have cable TV. Which means I don't get local news and that stinks I cut my own hair I wash my hair once a week but rinse it every time I shower.unless I have an appointment where I feel my hair is to yucky from sweating. I try finding free things or people to share with when it comes to crafts or gardening or other things.

Thank you so very much for this very informative and interesting video. You say that you wear almost no make up but believe me (widow age 74) you are a beautiful woman and have such a nice KZbin voice. And your gorgeous head of hair is amazing! You and Brooke look so much alike that you could be close to twins not Aunt and niece. I believe you will do very well on KZbin and I look forward to all your videos. Brooke adores you and speaks often of you on her channel, she says that you are the "crafty one". Hope to see more of your videos and I will be recommending you to all my relatives and friends. Sincerely, from Debbie 🙋 and Dexter-Dog 🐕 my sweet tiny rescued Chihuahua 🐶🐾 companion living a quiet crafty life 🏠🧑‍🦽in southern California. 💕👍🙏🧗🐣🤪✝️🤸🤓💌🌵🐾🐶🐥❤️🐰😘

I keep the landline for the 911 service. If emergency occurs, the dispatcher has the name and address. If the person can not give the address or is not able to be understood, a police car will be dispatched.

You don't need make-up, .you're beautiful, inside and out. I love it too, that you support your husband, just like, I'm sure, he supports you..That is a beautiful thing. When I came of age in the 60's the women's movement began portraying men as the enemy. That was in my brain and when I got married instead of seeing my husband through the lens of him being human man being the enemy seeped into my thinking...that movement did more harm for men, women and children than just about anything I can think of..back then it was "I am woman hear me roar" but today they battle cry is "I'm am woman I'm a victim and men are the abuser' which I believe figures into the high rate of divorce and on the flip side fewer people getting married and co-habituating instead. I can tell that you aren't a doormat and your spouse knows that and he not only knows better but wants to do better by you AND most importantly, he also knows you 'in it to win it' (in marriage with him) b/c you love him.

There are so many ways you guys save money that we use also. Makeup only used for days I work and I get all my running done on those days also, only buy used vehicles, all vehicles are paid for in full. If we can't pay cash, we do without it! No movies, don't go out to eat, but used furniture and pre-owned clothes. No home phone. We do not exchange gifts for any holidays, if we want something, or need something, we save for it and get when we can.
