For anyone who hasn’t seen, there is a dedicated video for Marseille. It’s a look at the other side, a story of an amazing pilot that actively tried not to kill enemy pilots and even made attempts to rescue downed allied pilots that he shot down.

I always felt the allied forces were catered to, and promised the best of everything, where as the German stories are more exciting, they fought not knowing if they could get supplies, ammunition, or even orders that made sense, and they just dealt with it like true soldiers, and I admire their bravery.

great design, dedication and skill but their strategies were very questionable yes they took over europe in a few years, but that was simply because they were so effective and coordinate, but time and time again their strategies were the key reason they lost the war, i mean come on, how can you push the british to the beaches of dunkirk but they stopped their tank advance and let the luftwaffe "take care" of things and let 300k+ soldier excape on civilian boats that had the time to come from england, very embarrassing. not to mention thinking it was a good idea to move east wasting resources and making it difficult for logistics and spreading the army thing. i mean if that doesnt scream tactical geniuses idk what will

Ya I go into history withdrawals when having to wait 2 weeks for them but I always bounce back in fourth between yarnhub, infographics show, simple history, oversimplified (even tho they are all older content with oversimplified unless there’s something idk about them to watch new videos) and Tj3 history. Between those five I can “completely nerd out” as my wife calls it. lol we have 2 kids @ 2&4 year old, and she always says “your gonna be the one that teaches the kids and helps them on history and social studies and government classes. Because that’s all you listen to and watch 24/7 seems like lol but she has a point I do watch a lot of history. But I like the simple things and would rather watch videos about something g that actually happened than some crazy sci-fi or unrealistic type of movie or videos bc if it can or has happened I’m all for it , realism at its finest haha

FYI, Erwin Bachman was a member of 10th SS Panzer, and is, surprisingly enough, the ONLY SS panzer division to have been recorded to have NOT committed ANY war crimes. Unlike several of the earlier SS panzer divisions, the "Frundsberg" division did not engage in atrocities against either civilians or combatants. Based on its fighting record, it was an elite division which also had a reputation of fighting a "clean war." Postwar, the division had a very active veteran's association. Because of their lack of War Crimes, they were also the only SS panzer division to continue on in post war Germany, becoming the modern day 10th Armoured Division of the German Army. It would be nice if you paid honor to this fact.

I am, by inclination , an amateur WAR history buff, so I always enjoy reading or listening to factual history stories; even those which need to use dramatic embellishment to emphasize the drama of the tale. This video reminds of a short lived WW2 DC comic book titled Wehrmacht which uses a fictional set of German Soldiers to narrate the POV of the German Army in some of WW2's famous (and infamous) campaigns. While the comic delved a bit into the political and social elements of WW2 German military life, this video focuses only on actual battles and the participants, making it , in a way, more believable since I feel that even the Dramatic Embellishments are based on the available facts. thanks again.

I would love it if Yarnhub did a video on the Monchy 9 of Newfoundland. 9 men of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment positioned at Monchy-le-Preux during the Battle of Arras in 1917 hid behind shrubbery and defended the town from a German force anywhere from 200 - 300 men strong for 11 hours to prevent a German break through. For once, this story was told relatively accurately. Only a couple of points missed. For example, the British accidentally attacked their own ship with mangeet torpedoes that didn't work, so they had to use older torpedoes. The Germans themselves sunk their ship and it was done by blowing up the bottom of the propeller tunnel. This operation was called Operation X, which prevented secrets from being leaked to the Alliance and the knowledge that the Alliance's torpedoes did not pass through the ship's torpedo belt.

I agree. The Ariete division gives the lie to the assertions that Italians didn't know how to fight - not forgetting the manned torpedo teams that attacked the British battleships in Alexandria harbour. (I met an Italian serviceman who was surprised that I, an RAN officer (retd), knew of that). Post-war, British Admiral Morgan, who was the wartime CO of the 'Valiant' asked, and was granted, permission to present the medal to de la Penne. The medal presented was the Italian equivalent of the VC.
