All those mids are on the shorter side of the game. If you wanna go longer, there's a very versatile option for the ones who are not affraid of tuflite boards: the takayama egg. Very forgiving, easy to handle from the center, short radius turn from the tail, hold very well in hollow surf, and easy paddling. Short, a very good light board for aging surfers. From small impredictible beach break to over head hollow point. A mix of short and longboard.

Thanks for the recommendation, I loved the Takayama Scorpion so I’ve added the Egg onto my list of board to test! 🤙

Would you add a traction pad on the dhd interceptor
@StokedForTravel3 күн бұрын
Personally preference at the end of the day but for most of my mid lengths I surf without a pad. Does help with foot placement and protecting the tail though

This is a great list, what is so critical that nobody covers on the mid lengths is duck diving capabilities when its bigger out? Which out of this list is going to be the most capable to duck if you were comparing the same size board and weight of rider?
@StokedForTravel5 ай бұрын
Always a tough one when talking boards of this size as nothing is going to be super easy to duckdive simply due to the size and volume of the boards we're looking at. In theory boards with a bit of extra nose rocker and more pulled in noses will be easier to scoop under the waves though. Out of this particular list the Broken Arrow, Mid Strength and Mid 6 were the easiest to duck dive

The Rincón and The Ova. Both the best boards

As a Mid6 owner, I got the 7'0, I'm use to riding a 7'2 C I. Water hog and I wish I would've gotten the Mid6 in the 7'6. I love the 7'0 but I wish I had a lil more board. And I'm 51, 5'10 about 170lbs

Hey! Great vid. Between these boards is there one that stands out as being the best for beginners?
@StokedForTravel Жыл бұрын
I’d say the Cape Collective Midaway, Harley Ingleby Moe or the Ova (all in slightly longer lengths) would be a solid choice 😊

great video as always! whats your take on libtech surfboards, specifically for traveling?
@StokedForTravel Жыл бұрын
Thanks heaps, glad you enjoyed it! The Libtech build is solid as and ideal for travelling! Really surprised it didn’t take off more to be honest

Lib tech crowd killer is the one for those who want a mid length that performs the closest to a shortboard in the pocket and better waves. They feel much like a good PU board with their weight despite having a waterproof core. Great for travelling as they are difficult to ding. Takes a lot of the worry out of rough handling on planes, boats etc.

No Boss Up? Compares favorably to the HI Mid 6. But don't discount the Moe. I ridden the 7'2" and 7'4" Moe extensively on Kauai in some solid overhead reef breaks and it will hold its own in a variety of conditions. Prefer the 7'4" with the Quad set up.
@StokedForTravel2 ай бұрын
Unfortunately this video was made before that was released! Would definitely add the Boss Up into the mix now though (check out my full review) and loving my 7’2. Recently started riding it as a twin with trailer on small days and loving it! Quad set for the punchier stuff for sure though!
