I remember of course in the sequel the Chronicle 2 returns but its nowheres near as good since there are weapons that surpass it in power like the island king and LEGEND in terms of power. However it does make up for that in the sense that it alongside the grade zero have the best attack combo for the two protagonists.

How about the RYNOCERATOR in Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal? Now, the base RY3NO is pretty powerful, since it fires lasers that instantly kill any non-boss enemy they touch AND do a ton of damage to bosses. The problem is when you upgrade it to the RYNOCERATOR. Instead of firing lasers that instantly kill enemies, the lasers instead converge right in front of you and create a blinding explosion that kills all enemies on screen. Now, this problem is two-fold. First off, the explosion won't kill enemies that are behind ratchet or are offscreen. Second, the explosion doesn't even damage bosses AT ALL, so you have to hit them with the lasers before they converge, and even then the lasers themselves do almost no damage.

Did you play Rogue Galaxy? It actually did start life as DC3 (and I've heard some of the source code actually still refers to the game that way), but Level 5 wanted to do a sci-fi theme instead. You can absolutely still see the influence all over it, though; it's still DC3 in all but name.

@@Deram1Axres Well, there's a PS4/5 remaster you could check out, though I'd certainly love a proper modern installment of either. It's not as good as DC2, but it's still got that feel. Not so much with the town building, sadly, but a similar concept gets applied to upgrading your characters.

Tales of Arise. If we're talking skills and spells, Reigning Slash. It's an absolutely devastating move that on some bosses, you can spam and do far more damage than just about any combo... And that's where it gets bad. In a game with an amazing combo system, it knocks enemies across the field and out of range of any combos.

The OICW in real life actually functioned the same way. It's whole gimmick was the "smart programmable munitions" fired from the top barrel, bullpup loaded weapon. The idea was to use it as an airburst weapon that allowed the user to lase the cover that an enemy was hiding behind, then detonate the round directly above or beside the enemy. The assault rifle part was actually below the munitions launcher in this setup too. The two weapons systems were actually split after testing phases ended. The assault rifle became the G36 and the launcher went on to become the XM-25 for the US military, which is also something that until a couple of years ago, was still being tweaked and improved.

The grenade launcher was deemed a warcrime. The grenades were too small to be classed as grenades, and instead got classed as bullets. Exploding bullets are a warcrime, so the launcher got retired.

For anything except the specific scenario its used in, the Spell Art that Nina Cochrane uses towards the end of the scenario "Showdown! Alexei" in SaGa Frontier 2. It's spectacularly effective, killing a pair of at that point impossible-to-defeat monsters and fully healing everyone else in the party. It also kills her. Now, this is technically a story-required moment. However: This Art isn't shown anywhere else. In addition, if Nina *isn't* in the party, that battle ends in a game over.

It seems to me that there are attacks in the Pokemon series that fall under this category. These attacks register at at least a hundred points in power, but can have an accuracy of sometimes as low as 50 or less, or they can damage the user in some way as well as the target, not to mention they can only be used five times. I'll admit I'm one of those gamers that values accuracy over power. And, as far as that's concerned, I calculate the true accuracy by taking the number given, dividing it by a hundred, squaring it, then multiplying it by a hundred again.

On a similar note to the Chronicle 2 is the Wyrmhero Blade from Final Fantasy XII. To get this thing, you need to play the game all the way to the final level, and defeat the toughest boss in the game, as well as the second most powerful boss, who you have to defeat as a prerequisite, another tough boss, and...the fishing minigame. By the time you get it, the only real use you have for it is the final esper, the third toughest boss.

It could be a whole list of its own, really. Hell, it could be several, it's a definite thing in RPGs of all stripes: The reward for beating the biggest, baddest optional boss should be commensurately awesome, right? So they give you a ludicrously powerful weapon as a reward. Sounds good, except you just beat the biggest challenge in the game without it, so everything else was already going to be a milk run by comparison, even the final boss. It still feels better and more badass than some useless "certificate" item or whatever, and it sucks to beat such a big challenge and not get anything, so they kind of have to keep doing it.

What about the Excalibur II from Final Fantasy IX? You had to make it to the final dungeon in under 12 hours, beat an optional boss and you're granted a Sword that may be OK but not worth skipping the entirety of the game just to obtain. 😫

People always talk about he farsight from perfect dark but no one ever talks about the railgun in red faction 2 which was just as cheap for being able to instakill a player while aiming through walls with its scope and on one multiplayer map there's a secret location which has the weapon from which you can kill other players with relative impunity because unless they can find the secret door and take you down they were screwed.

game's good, but you have to go in knowing that it doesn't do 'fair campaigns' ... the enemy warbands never actually lose people, even if you kill them, they will always be back for the next battle. your warband on the other hand, slowly gets ground down due to injuries etc. bit of a shame, but i can understand it is easier to just load 'warband X' into a battle, than to keep updated versions of each enemy warband in the savefiles

In Psychonauts 2 the Clairvoyance power Limitless which removes cooldowns has the same problem as Chronicle 2, there isn't even an option to replay bosses or anything and it is literally impossible to get it without doing several things after the final boss battle including returning to the last brain from the Collective Unconscious (because you need to collect some stuff from a room you have zero chance to explore before the level boots you and the story will not let you return until after the final boss fight) and a few things you need to return to the hub zone with a power you get after crossing a Point of No Return (which you can freeplay through after the final battle).

The Drake Sword from the original Dark Souls needs its day in court as well. When you get it, yeah, it’s probably the most powerful sword in the game, considering how early you can obtain it. But when you start upgrading other weapons, notably the bass cannon that is the Zweihander or the infinitely death dealing Black Knight weapons or the iconic Claymore, the Drake Sword falls off a cliff and boy howdy does it fall quickly. Drake Sword carried me through the Gaping Dragon, but after that, you have enough resources to make vanilla weapons the best weapons in the game.

I'll be heading down to Blighttown soon, my Reinforced club is starting to feel a bit weak even at +4, but I cant decide what to start reinforcing and using as my main, between Claymore, Zwei and the Black Knight Greatsword. @@liamvermaak982 - For sure, bro. Honestly it kinda comes down to your preference. But for me, I feel like everyone should play through once using the almighty Zweihander. It’s a meme for a reason. The light attack is a sweeping horizontal arc that can hit multiple enemies in one swing. The strong attack for the Zwei is an overhead, vertical attack that slams the sword down and easily staggers most enemies. Plus, since it is a vertical attack, you don’t have to e worry about hitting the wall accidentally. Sorry for the long answer, but unless you like the moveset of the Claymore more, just go Zwei all the way. Oh and you can buff the Zwei with lightning, fire, poison etc etc. Have fun!

Had quite a bit of fun with frost damage in DS3 and Elden Ring recently. I love the big and hard hitting weapons like greatswords, I've just been avoiding Zwei a bit cause I don't really two-hand, mainly stick to sword and shield, but if (bbbiiiiigggggg if) it at all handles like the Hollowslayer GS in DS3, I'm sure I'll feel right at home. No sweat about the long reply, I prefer a detailed breakdown any day :)

@@liamvermaak982 - If you beef up your Strength stat enough, you can 1 hand it and still use your shield. I recommend doing that anyhow considering you are about to tackle Blighttown. Upgrade the Zwei, get your Strength stat high enough to one hand, and for God’s sake, keep your shield up. Blighttown isn’t short on things that can kill you quickly.

I don't think the weapon itself was terrible, it was legitimately Steiner's strongest weapon, just not worth passing up all the side-content and the other powerful gear/abilities you can collect instead of speedrunning to the endgame.

it's the same issue as the alundra one where you get it and then have nothing to do with it because the game is all but over. there's no point getting xcalibur2 excapt as a novelty in and of itself.

I can't remember what the spells are called in Skyrim, but you have to go to extreme lengths to find them. Then once you've unlocked them the casting time makes them practically useless.

My choice would probably be Galaxion from Kiss: Psycho Circus. It's supposed to be The Celestial's ultimate weapon that creates black holes that insta kill enemies but it needs to be fired at a surface, doesn;t work of flying enemies, and can suck you in and kill you very easily. Not worth the hassle.

I would like to add a weapon to this list, or... actually.. every single weapon in that game i have in mind. So here goes... every weapon in Dishonored, every kill results in a rise of plague ridden rats in the city, more people dead, more rats, more chaos, more despair, more "darkness". So... Corvo's little folding sword, his razorblade traps, every weapon he can use to remove unwanted people, results in spreading the rat infestation and all it's glorious nastiness that follows.

That's one of the things I loved about FFVIII. Odin gets taken out and replaced with Gilgamesh who is way more effective. It's just too bad you couldn't summon him at will.

@@drewtheunspoken3988 Funny thing is, iirc, Odin (and Gilgamesh using Odin's sword) couldn't be resisted and always hit on that game. It was just total chance that he'd pop in and end a fight for you. While Gilgamesh could show up at literally any time, he did have a chance of doing jack-all by using Excalipoor.

I get the argument that a bioweapon is a tool used against your opponent But in terms of video games I consider it something you can hold or weld in some way Guns, Melee, Magic are normal Turrets, stationary guns and Mecha are also acceptable

Another one that could've been on this list Sword of Aeons from the original release of Fable. By the time you get your hands on it...the game is more or less over. Much like the Chronicle2, there's nothing really left to actually use it on. Of course, Lost Chapters and Anniversary gave you more to do past the point you can get it, so there's that, but before those came out...

(Ultima VII) The Armageddon spell. When used, it kills EVERYBODY.. Except the Avatar (the player), Lord British, and the main villain of the game. (Dark Cloud) I love the games. Both of them. In the first Dark Cloud game, Chronicle II is definitely wasted potential. All of the hard work going into clearing the Demon Shaft AND the overpowered boss, and then you get an awesome weapon with no enemies to fight. At least the second game learned from this mistake.

Mordheim was a multiplayer game where they randomly attached a single player campaign that was hideously imbalanced. cheats against the player to absolutely no end. 90% odds to hit in Mordheim is actually about a 45% chance to hit.

The absurdre damage it can do mabey the best damage of any Rocket launcher. However the reloaded speed the fire rate firing speed and range means your dead by the either how long it takes or the range of the damage it afflicted. Worse on multi player.
