Honorable mention to "Fable 2" property income. "Assassins creed Brotherhood" sending recruites on missions. As well as "ME Andromeda"

Don't know if this counts, but Fable 2 (& probably the other Fable games; don't remember off hand) allows you to collect rent while the game is off. You buy some properties early in the game, go away for a while & then log back on, & you're rewarded with a giant sack of gold. And considering how important gold is in the game, this is huge.

Iirc that Gauntlet exit thing was put in by the devs to allow people to pass levels they were stuck on. Due to the maze like layout of many levels. 200 seconds of game time equates to 2/3 of the amount it costs per credit I think it was. So you were literally paying to win. Even back then when Gauntlet was released.

Was Stanley Parable too mainstream for this list? There's multiple times in that game that stopping and refusing to do anything is commented on or rewarded, including the achievement for not turning on the game for X number of years.

2:54 That's actually true with real life Bear attacks too. If you stand your ground/slowly and calmly back away from Black Bears they will roar you off then go off on their merry way almost all the time. But a Grizzly bear might attack you or might not, so for them you need to play dead because they're not interested in eating you, just making sure you're not a threat to their territory.

I loved Koudelka. The only game where my party gets wiped out by the final boss and then was rewarded with a cutscene where they defeat the final boss. I was so confused.

Koudelka was a great game, but keep Koudelka's necklace always! I remember taking it off for something else to find out that it protects you from the final boss, without it you all get killled instantly.

Ironically I'm watching this while taking a break from the Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader PC game and one of the enemy types kind of fits this. Not totally though While you can't ignore them completely Necron ships have an ability that fully regenerates their HP the first time their Health bar is emptied. Before this they regain some HP every turn. But after they use it they start taking damage every turn instead and it can destroy them So I'll often blast a ship or two to the point where it regenerates and starts taking damage every turn then veer off to deal with another section of the battlespace while the ships It hit fly themselves apart in my wake.

E.T the Videogame was one of the first examples of a game that rewarded you for not playing. Because by not playing, you weren't cursed with the memory of that game 🤷🏼♂️

I (fortunately) didn't have E.T., but I do have memories of going to my neighbor's house, playing it, quickly becoming confused and frustrated, then spending a minute or two 'stretchy-neck floating' until I asked my friend to change the game. Even at 8-9 years old I could tell the game sucked.
