Death by Bunjie

Күн бұрын

Finally! Bunjie and I get it done on the King of the Forest in the Kingdom of Bunjie. We shoot a nice 8 point buck, one of the biggest bucks to frequent the property according to our trail camera pictures. We hope you enjoy this whitetail deer crossbow hunt!
As always: this is not a channel about shooting big bucks. I don't discriminate--I'll shoot any legal deer. ;)
I want to help make KZbin the #1 place for quality hunting entertainment. I want to help spread the hunting lifestyle. To do that, I set up this channel to showcase the crossbow and help others film their hunts and get those videos online. So, subscribe to this channel to be entertained and learn more about crossbows and filming in the outdoors.
This channel is about my love of the crossbow, hunting, and the outdoors. I hunt almost exclusively with the crossbow. I love it. Sure, like a lot of kids, I started hunting with a good ol' Model '94 Winchester 30-30 back in the 80's, but drifted away from hunting when I went off to college, law school, and started a family. As my daughter got older, I regained my interest in the outdoors, and I consider myself lucky to hunt on the same property today that I hunted on as a kid. I got the Excalibur Axiom crossbow in 2010 and I haven't looked back. This channel is the result of combining my interest in filming and hunting...
...and music, too! My related channel, Yankee Militia, showcases my music. Some of the music is hunting-related, so check that out, too! The soundtrack for this channel is provided by my band, so the two are intertwined. The album for the current season is available wherever you download music online, and the Special Edition CD is available on Amazon.com.

Rich, this was awesome! All the work you've done and all the effort you've put in - it all pays off. I love your philosophy of not discriminating against any size deer. But it sure is nice to harvest such a gorgeous buck! Congrats! Food plots and trying to pattern deer isn't easy. But documenting it in a unique and engaging (and even more importantly yet - encouraging) way and sharing it with all of us - that is a huge job also. The job that you do so very well. I moved to PA 2 years ago and got my first crossbow. I have been practicing with it when I can for a clean kill. I have to say, my interests are not limited to bow hunting. I enjoy gardening, photography and videography, but not always in that order. Have you ever done a video on how to prepare the venison?
@Deathbybunjie
@Deathbybunjie 7 жыл бұрын
+Kevin Maher those sound like the things that I'm interested in! I have done some cooking videos that are on the channel. As far as preparing it like skinning, cutting it up, and canning it, those are videos that are coming but I just have trouble putting those videos together. I am a one-man band, so to speak, so it's an awful lot for me to do those videos when I'm usually rushing around at the last minute trying to get the deer cleaned up and processed at 11pm. Thanks for watching and thanks for your interest!
@kevinmaher6029
@kevinmaher6029 7 жыл бұрын
Well, I didn't mean skinning or processing the meat, I was wondering if Bunjie had any favorite recipes. I know this isn't Iron Chef, but is there anything special you do?
@Deathbybunjie
@Deathbybunjie 7 жыл бұрын
+Kevin Maher hit or miss on the cooking with bunjie videos, but I really like anything in the crock pot. Recently we've been using the one dish meals from Walmart from Campbell's. I showed them on the Facebook page too. And I REALLY like canned venison! Heat up over egg noodles, chili, beef stew, eat straight out of the jar...awesome!

James Peverill I would get rid of that Barnett. I have the Whitetail Hunter Pro STR and I hate it. I've had to get the riser replaced 4 times because the strings and cables were showing signs of fraying so I took it back to Bass pro shop where I bought it. Had I known, I would've saved up for an Excalibur bc they are more durable. The only reason I bought it was because at that time I got BPS to match Amazon's price and I saved about $150 of the bow. I did not know I was getting myself into some headaches! Now I'm waiting for a box so I can send the crossbow back to Barnett not to mention the scope broke too.
@craig5649
@craig5649 5 жыл бұрын
@@iHustleLXXXI Buy from your local archery shop in the future. Buying from a big box store may save you money but won't save you any headaches. I can't believe you're having that much trouble with a Barnett. Four risers? I have a $200 barnett that's several years old with original parts that's still reliable. If a local shop had that issue they wouldn't have ordered the third riser if they really wanted your business. They would have put you into a different bow or handed your money back.

Hey Rich and Bunjie, awesome channel and vids. I also live love and hunt in Northeast PA. What county are you hunting if you don't mind me asking. I also self film my hunts, this is only my 3rd season with the camera but I've hunted for the past 20 years. I must say that adding the challenge of trying to film a good buck harvest with my bow relit the fire and gave me the drive to make it through all those tough sits. And it's guys like you that inspire myself and others to do the work and be proud of the payoff even if it's not an Iowa giant's. So thank you and congrats on a great NEPA, mountain traveling, hemlock rubbing, stud of a buck! You earned him!

I did some videos on that if you want to check those out. Ask me any questions and I'll help you if I am able. Good luck! What county are you in?

I have a few vids up now, I'm still putting some together but I didn't fill my tag yet this season so I will deff check out your vids on self filming. from what ive seen so far they are very professional and they have that extra b roll footage and time filler that you need to narrate and tell the story. I always forget to get that little stuff that makes it all come together but I'm learning...

A huge congrats. I'm seeing some nice bucks on camera also here in Connecticut. just waiting to see them up close. did you get a weight off that guy? I'm a fan of big bodied deer.

Thank you and cool that you are seeing some bigguns! I also appreciate big bodies--I did not weigh it but it was the heaviest deer I've ever handled personally. Took a lot out of me. By next year I'm going to have scales and a hoist of some sort. I struggled with this one and then afterwards thought why didn't i hoist him up with the bucket on the tractor. Oh, well, but it'll make a neat project and video for next summer. He was bulked up good, you can see it in the fighting pics. I like your profile pic too btw.

+Outdoors 4 Life thanks! Fyi shirts are for sale lol, www.deathbybunjie.com. your wife is right, lol. I heard one saying that to the world, a yankee is an American. To an American a yankee is a new englander. To a new englander, a yankee is someone from vermont. To a vermonter, a yankee is someone who eats pie for breakfast. Not sure what that means but it's pretty funny.

I had this happen to my licking branch also. well, not MY licking branch, but the deers. one visit back to check my trailcam, and I noticed the branch was gone. after I downloaded all the pics from my tcam to my phone, I looked for the branch. I found it on the ground and I took some small string and very securely re-attached it to the tree. I had no idea if this would work or not, but yup, the deer went right back to it like nothing ever happened. from viewing the pics, it turned out to be a cow that broke it off. ranchers are allowed to free-range their cattle on crown land here. makes putting any salt out for the deer impossible.

+breathe and squeeze cows! Now that's something! When I hunted in Arizona there were free range cattle too. No licking branches though LOL. But that's a really neat story. It's funny how deer will go right back to work on it even though you had your hands on it. Go figure. They sure are interesting creatures!

Just subbed you! Great hunt & a great buck, fellow axiom owner also! How are the ticks in your neighborhood, here in northern Lackawanna county they're pretty bad.
@Deathbybunjie
@Deathbybunjie 7 жыл бұрын
+Locks Bog they come and go. I do try to check myself over and immediately take a shower after I've been Outdoors. Didn't notice any over the winter and haven't seen one yet so so far in the spring though. If you think ticks are bad, go to Maryland and catch chiggers. They're awful. Haha. But seriously thanks for watching and I'll talk more with you soon!

Love the channel just subbed... Quick question.. Do you sight in your crossbow with broadheads or field points. ? Also what broad head do you recommend. ?
@Deathbybunjie
@Deathbybunjie 4 жыл бұрын
With a new string or new scope, or new arrows or anything like that, I sight in with field points. Then I switch to broadheads only for the hunting season to make sure that I am still on with them and I dial it in for those broadheads. Good luck out there!

+Let It Fly yeah I wish I'd used that too. I didn't have the right lens. I had my really nice sigma 17-50 lens but that's a bit heavy for my camera clamp. The kit lens 18-55 is much lighter but I didn't have it. So much for being prepared!

Mr. Deer, I wish that was my name lol. I think we CAN over hunt--a couple of years I hunted a LOT and saw less than last year when I hunted sparingly due to a new job. Go figure. I think having lots of stand options and playing the wind helps. But deer are pretty smart!
