Hi There! I love your videos! What kind of ink and nib are you using in this video? I used the "Iron Gall" over the holidays, but I found it rather lite. The ink in this video is nice and dark! Love it!
@OpenInkStand8 жыл бұрын
+Joanna Dojillo I used sumi ink, it's very very black. Iron gall ink is good too but some do not get as black as sumi.

Ive been doing this on and off for over thirty years (more off than on)and I could not imagine being this good, however i do find that my writng is far better when using paper designed for water colour paintings than ordinary writing paper (and surprisingly it doesn't run or bleed) is this common and why
@OpenInkStand7 жыл бұрын
Different people have different preferences, if it works for you keep using it!!

What nib are you using? And where did you get the holder? It looks like wood, is it??? I've been using a Brause EF66 in a plastic skinny holder (oblique) Not very comfortable.
@OpenInkStand7 жыл бұрын
My penholder is made by Michael Sull. And yes the plastic holders are not very comfortable!
@yahchile76818 жыл бұрын
What kind of nib is that?

Hi there I just started calligraphy 2 weeks ago and was an instant subscriber your Channel! I want to learn copperplat but all I have right now is a pilot metropolitan. What should I use to start learning copperplate?
@OpenInkStand8 жыл бұрын
+Piotr Monaco A Pilot Metropolitan is a fountain pen, and you won't be able to do copperplate with it. I did a beginners guide here which you may find useful: openinkstandblog.com/beginners-guide/

to be honest, the calligraphy was barely legible
@Coasterdude021497 жыл бұрын
What was hard to read because it's perfectly legible to me. Too much computer...turn it off and learn the real way to write.
@ohmybread15467 жыл бұрын
Coasterdude02149 excuse me if i don't put swirls and curves on all my letters, in my school we don't need that, and when i did it, my teachers told me to stop because no one could read it. i actually have been in calligraphy classes, hence the reason i am watching this video, i was just looking for something that would suit me
@Tannieart7 жыл бұрын
Your teacher said that because writing in school is formal, and teaching you how to be practical in a formal and professional setting. It is also helpful to the many people who read it because flourishes are distracting from the writing itself. This type of calligraphy is meant to be like what someone would embellish on a Title, but not to be put into a book to be read. I would say it is difficult to read for some people and not others if you are not used to these types of handwriting styles from not reading these certain types often.
