Powdered cheese was in great demand by the US military quartermaster corp to feed soldiers in WWII. When the war ended they had a shi- -, er at lot of this stuff and not a lot of soldiers to feed. The quartermaster offered to sell some to Charles Doolin. It was such a good price the Doolin bought all of it. He had no use for the product but he saw a good deal. Once he had it he added it to a corn puff and Cheetos were born.

I cooked in the army, I used powdered and dehydrated food all the time, even shrimp packed more than 30 yrs before i opened the can, but the #1 powder i would recomend in any prep, beef base, chicken base, vegetable base, tomatoe base, I can guarantee with these ingredients, I could cook a turd and make it tastey to ya. Powdered onion soup is another staple can be used in lots of things, dry beans,all kinds,rice,noodles all kinds,dehydrated potatoes,all kinds,dehydrated vegetables, these items go very far feeding more people with very little. Powdered cheese,powdered milk. Dehydrated meat is always good but it is expensive, but with these ingredients you can make hearty soups by using small amounts of these items and feed many people. Its really not hard

A man after my own heart! Lol, I 100% agree, I use all of those powders in 75% of my meals every day and I buy the big tubs of it. We've been in 'survival mode' since 2008 as I've been a disabled single parent since then.(until last year when I married a wonderful woman). Everyone raves about my cooking, and when I tell them my "secret ingredient" they usually laugh. It sounds to me like your preps are the same as mine across the board. Dry beans, potatoes, veggies and spices. I usually say "I can make cardboard taste good, but if you got 1/2 pound of meat of any kind I can make a meal for 10 people who will crave it for the rest of their lives. My grandmother (who was first nation) grew up in the great depression and had to feed a huge family along with the farmhands and took over the cooking on the farm at age 7. I have a few things that I ordered from Thrive life, including powdered butter. My family wasn’t crazy about the flavor of the beef and chicken options, however I believe they’d be less picky in a SHTF scenario, and I actually liked the ground beef option, I found it pleasing in ramen and soup. The cans last at least 25 years when still sealed. Once opened they should be used within 6 months. I would genuinely like a free dryer, but the cost has prevented me from investing in one. I will start pressure canning next month and see how effective I am with canning fruit, soups and meat. Edited to add, it wasn’t the flavor of the meat but the texture. I was still a beginner and possibly I didn’t prepare them as well as I could have.

The instructions for reconstituting powdered, dehydrated, freeze dried foods should be on the label. Yes, they all require broth, water, or some liquid to reconstitute them.
@MsHappyjac4 ай бұрын
@@lyndasmith8747 it is best to soak them in water or broth, in refrigerator over night. That way, they are reconstituted and ready to use in the morning.
