1:16 1: My strike is my block and my block is my strike 4:00 2: One strike will lead to the next 5:26 3: My safety hand protects my heart, eyes, and live hand 7:38 4: A person who can’t see can’t fight 9:52 5: Never prolong a fight 12:16 6: Never swim against a current 14:05 7: Flow and adapt 16:05 8: Preserve, control, dominate Looking it at it as a list, it illustrates how some are very similar to the one before it, but that truly reinforces the idea that, like #2, one point leads into the next, and how ultimately it's about breaking it into goal posts just like #8, in that 6 is about making the right plan, 7 is about making the right corrections to that plan, and 8 is about executing it, also bringing back #5 to not prolong it. The small picture is exactly like the big picture, which is really a whole nother level of thinking about it. And your changes to #8 are the right ones, since the beginning steps really are about self preservation, blocks and safety hands and vision.

Thanks for these insightfull principles. Not that I understand all of it, but I feel like you explain so clear that I feel more confident to learn self-defense. It sounds logical, there is reason for why you do what you do. 🧐

You mentioned something about an elite membership or affiliation, I am interested to hear more about that. I have been training in martial arts for many years and found FMA about 6 or 7 years ago, I really wish I would have discovered it sooner. I train with a an awesome instructor, but he is only teaching on saturdays now so its difficult for me too attend class as I have a very busy schedule.

Seriously if you have an awesome instructor, time shouldn't be an isue. Don't let a busy schedule be an excuse for something you really want. We all got 24 hours a day, be gratefull for it 😜

The last principle is one I am constantly explaining to martial artists..... like dude... even if he is some meth head robber and you grab him and knee his face 100 times, the courts are gonna raise an eye brow to a trained fighter who is suppose to have control and did that much damage. MANY martial artists in history have went ham in legit self defense situations and lost their freedom for it. As soon as the court sees like you with your vast amount of training and control, went from self defense to assault, you are going to jail. After that, courts do not take the "oh i feared my life was in danger" excuse from a trained martial artist, they know that you are confident enough to not jump to fear for your life, that means you MUST be able to show to a court that all times you where in control, and did not do more damage then required to a threat to secure your safety.

Do you have a lessons for initiates into two sticks, and one stick Filipino Martial Arts? I like the instructional videos but would prefer to purchase your teaching for move viewing options and to financially support your studio.
