Totally realistic reasons not to join a group. I think its definitely become a trend to find a group. I left our group because the cost kept going up with each level.

It is a trend. Some trends are good, but still not a one size fits all! Ty For watching! :-)

What great points. I get burnt out with all our activities including our co-op. Just subscribed. I also have a channel mainly about homeschooling and glad to connect here!

This was such an interesting video 🤔. Co ops are not the same in the UK but I could relate to many of the points raised. I ran a home ed group over here for 2 years which was awesome. We met up once (sometimes twice) a month, did work together in the morning and activities in the afternoon. We went on trips together and had such a great time. It sound like there is a lot of commitment involved in a cop op. Great video. New subscriber here.

This is actually very helpful I’m daughter turns 4 this year and I won’t be sending her to VPK but I’m homeschooling her starting in kindergarten and hslda co op keeps popping up. I would only want her to do a co op that offer electives during the day because she’s in swimming and gymnastics already. Sorry if this didn’t make any sense

Thanks for this a homeschool mom and myself decided to get our kids together when it's convenient for the both of us no certain days just whenever and our kids get together and play. It's not a co-op. I never joined a co-op don't want too.

There is a co op 25-30min away from my home and charge $600 for 3 days during 9 month. Does that sound good? How would I make my own? New to this homeschooling. My kids are still enrolled in county school

Hey Liz! It’s a good price if it’s what what you are looking for and you can afford it. That’s still cheaper than private school! But the big question is, does it work for you? You just need another family or 2 and bam! You have a homeschool group. We may do a video on this. We do consulting at a very fair price if you need it! Email is at Homeschoolific@gmail.com if you’d like more information. :-)

Hello new to your channel. What are some things my daughter can expect to do in a good Co - Op? Thank you for sharing this.
@Homeschoolific

It really does depend on the type of co-op you're apart of. Some co-ops focus solely on electives and some have offer both core subjects and electives. Some give homework and others do not. It also depends on what you're looking for in a co-op. A few things I would look for in a co-op would be to make sure the teachers (aka parent teachers) are getting the support that they need. They are all volunteering their time to teach at the co-op and still have to teach their kids at home. Also, I would make sure that there's a good level of organization happening within the co-op. As far as what types of things that you should prepare for or what types of things you should expect at a good co-op I really think it depends on the type of co-op that you're joining. I like co-ops that are well organized, that have good systems in place for the classes and lunch time, a balance between the amount of core classes and electives. If your child is in an elementary class, I would say to make sure that there's a good amount of interactive classes that make it interesting. If you have high schoolers, I would also say the same thing. I do understand that more of the classes are lecture based for high schoolers, but try to make sure that there are things that they need to be accountable for. So maybe they're getting a homework assignment every now and again or a project that they have to work on for that class and turn in. I know that was a lot, but hopefully it helped. -LaVonda

Kno that was great. I'm glad you took the time to explain. I have a 7 the grader. I just always seem to be looking for New materials. Books, projects how to make up unit studies. I love teaching at home.
