Doing a flash and batt in my house now with Rockwool. Your channel taught me all about it. Just me building my house so taking forever. But I know when it’s done, it will be solid and efficient.

Stone wool is the only isolation I use for a timber house. No burning isolation near a wooden house. Stone wool, will dry out and keep it's form after being soaked in water. Our local brand of stone wool here in Iceland is Steinúl, no formaldehyde.

i gotta endure a cold house this upcoming winter like I did last year because my house isn't insulated but I've been telling people about rockwool and I got a sample of the stuff its heavily fire resistant held a lighter to it for a while and it wasn't even transferring heat...next year I'm going with rock wool and cement board instead of drywall...

So I have an 1820 house in VT. There is no exterior wrap. Want to use this in the rafters and in the walls. No vapor barrier needed?

Sir, I watch a lot of videos you produce. I'm going to be using this on a small install and just wanted your thoughts on the negatives I've heard on VOCs and possibly breathing in fibers when installing... do the binders fail? as over time, years later... That's my biggest worry and of course when installing. I use a wheelchair, so I'm close to what I'm working with.

Do I need a vapor barrier in a northern climate and what do I use for it since it does not come "faced" as the itchy pink stuff does.

Do I need some type of vapor retarder? I live in Raleigh Durham NC

No, are you in Zone 3 or 4? I am in Upstate SC (Zone 3) and I don't use an interior vapor retarder with mineral wool.

It sounds too good to be true.. what’s the R value?

2x4 R-13 or R-15, I think R-21 R-30 2x8. It’s best insulation I just used it for first time in small room built in my shop all u need is tape measure and bread knife it friction fits in place. We going sale our home one day when we do am going 2x6 walls r-21 in them and on outside am either doing 3 1/2” rock wool board it’s different than rock wool insulation or more than likely on outside doing zip board with 2 1/2” foam attached for extra R-12 give me like r 43 total on my walls. Power bills in bama going sky high buddy of mine has 300sq bigger house than me dod insulation like I was talking about doing for new house he is one told me about rock wool anyways last 3 months his biggest power bill $128 mine has been $425 $480 last one $451 makes me sick. He only has to use a tiny 2 ton unit cool his house we’re I have 4 ton barley can keep up when hot hot like July aug. His unit only kicks on maybe once a day I kid u not I had go over watch a ball game to see it for my self like a yeti cooler with ice except his even better insulated than a yeti. Rock wool is from lava rocks and rocks from making metal. It’s spun in this machine till it kinda does like cotton candy then it’s whipped back and fourth in layers it’s real thick and dense does not fall apart cut pick it up press in between studs

My grandfather insulated his attic with this stuff years ago before it became a go to insulation. I'm getting ready to insulate a guest house with this stuff. I want sound proofing, fire retarding and good insulation in one go. This is the stuff

You mean I don't need to put a vapour barrier over rockwool before drywalling?
