You put the only one layer of insulation? It will be enough? I asking cause My customer asked about two layers

The question I have isn't, do termites eat mineral wool? They don't eat rigid foam board either. My question is do termites burrow through mineral wool as they do RFB to get to wood?

Your PPE looks weak. Are neck gaiters and non enclosing safety glasses really what's recommended by Rockwool?

I’m doing something similar, floor above is just decking, no subfloor. Can I use rigid foam as thermal break, more readily available in my area and do I need a vapor barrier against underside of decking?
@mchristopher22 күн бұрын
You need a vapor barrier on the warm side or you will get mold in the joist bay and dry rot eventually too. The foam board would be a good vapor barrier if you cut it smaller that the joist bay by about 3/8” all around and fill the void with canned spray foam. Then fill the rest of the joist bay depth with roxul or fiberglass but don’t add another vapor barrier by using fiberglass batts with tar paper. That would be a vapor lock and cause mold/rot. Roxul would be the best imo added to the sealed foam board. It’s super easy to work with. I think the comfort board is overkill if you do the foam board and roxul. Then just cover it up with plywood.
@CoasterCrazyy11 күн бұрын
@@mchristopher excellent answer, only thing I could add is make sure you are using 2inch foam board, anything less wont count as the vapour barrier

I'm hoping to use this product in the roof deck of my metal building. I will squeeze r30 comfortbatts between my 2x8 trusses. Does it need to be covered on the bottom? Will it rain down dangerous particles if left exposed?

Rockwool has been around for over a decade yet comfortbat is only sometimes at Lowes in limited sizes and comfortboard is hardly available at all. I needed a limited amount of comfortbpard for a project. I resorted to an acoustic systems company. Material and shipping cost was insane.

Hi @southbendkid, we are sorry to hear this was your experience with our products. We acknowledge your concerns about the availability of our products and the challenge of securing ROCKWOOL stone wool for your projects. We assure you that we are working hard to improve availability and meet the growing demand. As part of our efforts, production is increasing with all lines running 24/7. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Dont use zip if your using rockwool on the outside. Use henrys water proof blueskin and forego the rainscreen. Rockwool acts as a rainscreen.

Aren’t you creating a water dam by putting those boards stood up on edge running perpendicular to the roof slope? This also does not allow the rockwool to drain if it gets wet. Do I have this wrong!

Apres je n’ai pas fait comme ça. Le plafond de ma voisine du dessous est beaucoup plus desolidarisé que cela & pour mes cloisons, j’ai mis du fermacell bcp plus lourd que le platre.

Sir, I watch a lot of videos you produce. I'm going to be using this on a small install and just wanted your thoughts on the negatives I've heard on VOCs and possibly breathing in fibers when installing... do the binders fail? as over time, years later... That's my biggest worry and of course when installing. I use a wheelchair, so I'm close to what I'm working with.
