It sounds too good to be true.. what’s the R value?
@SawHorseDesignBuild23 күн бұрын
You had a fastener for the ROCKWOOL, then one for the Delta, then one for the lath. The last 2 layers of fasteners seemed to be metal, which would cause many thermal breaks. Would you want to add thicker ROCKWOOL to account for the loss of effective R-Value with all the fasteners in your climate zone? STO has a product that works with ROCKWOOL and has fewer thermal breaks. I have yet to try it, but it looks promising.

Hey. Second comment. Are you still out there? First comment is below. In this one I'd like to ask if you could please link to the type of resilient channel that you use in the video. I think the kind I got at a big hardware chain might not be correct.

Other than cost, why wouldn't you pour a concrete flooring over the plastic mil? You could easily seal the crawlspace, making it part of a sealed home & have less issues in the future.

Three questions: 1.a. Can or should we be able to put insulation? 1.b. If yes, should it go above or below the Rockwool? 2. Does the Resilient Channel take the place of strapping?

Taping flashing to the WRB isnt' acceptable in our code, WRB needs to lap over the flashing to provide positive drainage.

Why don’t you want to put house wrap over the rockwool?
@yotube1234543213 ай бұрын
house wrap would be difficult to install over rockwool since you can't staple into the rockwool or use any of the self-adhered house wraps to stick it to the rockwool. Additionally, sandwiching the house wrap between the plywood and the rockwool protects the housewrap from the elements more which is important since that's providing your air and water barrier. The rockwool doesn't mind getting wet so it's fine that it's not protected by the house wrap.

what does the lifetime of both the rockwool and the panel look like if its completely exposed to elements? how about ina crawlspace?
@DitDitDitDahDahDahDitDitDit4 ай бұрын
No one talks about this, but if you have a siding which is a poor heat conductor shading your true wall, not in contact with the exterior wall, especially if it is vented allowing for air flow behind it [heat dissipation], and out the top, you’ve given your house a parasol. Someone tell Matt Risinger we have a new catch word, please. This parasol will block incoming radiant energy. This isn’t an equilibrium R value, it’s reducing the intensity of the incoming heat source, the sun, that’s beaming down on your building. I’d like to see a heat transfer engineer look at some of these things and make a few back of the envelope calculations.

Can’t buy it anywhere. Some kind of supply chain trouble.
@rebeccamartin53982 ай бұрын
I was lucky to find 40 available in Saskatoon recently at Home Depot but according to a local Home Hardware, there definitely is a supply problem as it would be around 6 months wait time for new orders to be fulfilled. Also, as of July 1st 2024 I read there will be an 8% price increase to most of Rockwool products.

Shouldn't the bug screen be folded up before the stripping?
@ForestToFarm4 ай бұрын
Seems like that would leave a path for bugs between the strapping. I am no expert though haha. Terry
@amiller8822Ай бұрын
You’re wanting to block access to the gap made by the rainscreen, which is the same gap/plane as the battens or furring strips. So no, you want the bug screen to be folded under/over the furring strips, not behind.

Key insights 🔧 The night wall MFI system is designed to reduce thermal bridging through exterior insulation, providing a more energy-efficient solution for cladding attachment. 🏗 There must be no voids or gaps in the insulation to maintain thermal barrier continuity. 🔩 The attachments are slotted, making the installation of ROCKWOOL CAVITYROCK® with Knight Wall a user-friendly process. 🏗 You are now ready to install your mechanical insulation attachments and proceed with the cladding. TLDR: The Knight Wall MFI system is a user-friendly and energy-efficient solution for cladding attachment, designed to reduce thermal bridging and maintain thermal barrier continuity. 1. 00:00 🔧 Install ROCKWOOL CAVITYROCK® with Knight Wall MFI system by measuring, attaching support brackets, installing metal Gertz, and temporary insulation retention fasteners. 2. 01:36 🔨 Install ROCKWOOL CAVITYROCK® by fitting it snugly behind the unfastened leg of the Gert and turning it to create a friction fit, ensuring no voids or gaps for thermal barrier continuity. 3. 02:01 🛠 Install ROCKWOOL CAVITYROCK® with Knight Wall using 24-inch spacing for horizontal rails. 4. 02:22 🔧 Install ROCKWOOL CAVITYROCK® with Knight Wall by lining up the S rails and installing mechanical insulation attachments before proceeding with the cladding.
