True, the more games do this the more fall off and shut downs will occur since the majority of player base is casual or f2p usually and if there is no balance or sever level cap to allow casuals to catch up on grind these games essentially just die over time, ROK is still alive because many big spenders who can simply migrate to new servers play the game which is another reason so many quit that game in mass.

Today, I have decided to quit CoD for many of these same reasons. It is not casual and it seems like you are punished for just simply playing the game. As a very low spender reaching 30mil power seemed awesome, but there is not shot of me reaching end game level. Plus 4 or 5 days healing troops for 10 minutes of fighting a t5 is absurd to me. I had fun and did enjoy the community I played with but this game isn't for me.

I played it for a few months when it launched and I did very little research on it prior. I was in a rut in RoK and decided I’ll jump to CoD and I was having a lot of fun. About a month in I realized there was a reset and I thought that was kind of weird. I did the research and found out how devastating the reset was actually gonna be. As a f2p player, CoD seems like a waste of time and as a p2w player, the game seems like a waste of money. Not sure what the devs were thinking on that one.

This game have real potential. I play ROK for many many years and i was really hyped for this one. For me 2 reasons i quit almost immediately is graphic (rly looks like made for 6y.o.) and seasonal resets. Rest is not bad but this 2 factors are more than enough... Great video lets hope creators take an advice from it :D

Cod doesn't give enough gems for f2p. Only 3 ways are: 1. daily 100 gems(very low) 2. events(very small amount) 3. gem gathering(very low amount)

I also want to add the crit system + ranged combat. Like, out of the gate from the day of launch, you already know that ranged combat is meta so there is no point for using melee. I'm a mid spender and it is just annoying that you just brought out your troops then the Hyper whale crits on you and then BOOM, from full health to dead immediately. Rise of Kingdoms is more enjoyable because even if my troops are losing, I can enjoy the moment of the battle, unlike killing the enemies in one shot, it's just extremely boring. Quitted after 2 months of grinding and spending. I regret I spent on CoD which I could've just spent on RoK.

Most boring game ever... spent more than half he season doing nothing... grinding and farming. Events? What events. Genuinely, truly, there is nothing to do in the game. Fighting mechanics suck too - you have to snipe from afar and you travel back only to have to redeploy and it takes forever to engage/travel... it's like 10 mins of prep for 10 seconds of battle. If you enjoy watching paint try, or the kettle boil, you'll love this game.

I think resetting the levels of the heroes hurt the most, At first they didn't plan on doing that, then they changed their minds towards the end of Season 1 AND you couldn't even MAX your level to 60 from grinding the mobs you were able to before....you had to pvp to get exp!!!!. . . lol I was like "hahahahahhaahah fuck off game *delete*"

I'm a new call of dragons player, picked it up recently to help with a friend's sponsorship. I agree with all of your points in this video and can see myself quitting after my first season reset. I do like the idea of a season game, but for me the combat is just NOT fun. Controlling the legions in combat feels completely terrible and it really shows and is especially miserable in the dragon trail. I also hate the character designs, but am willing to look past that part.

Started in your same server. Quit around 3 weeks into reset. That first reset really separated the whales from the rest. Losing all your buddies to other alliances was tough, not to mention when they start rallying you a week or two after you had previously been taking dragon together.

The nolife grind is real for f2p or low spenders just to lose everything after season reset including the entire alliance and tech, that alone hit like a truck 🚛 close and delete. To me it seems that this game was taken over by the suits and illith/farsight. The changes they made were made to "balance" the game between whales and non whales, but in eect it made the game pretty much a whale only game. I played sine early launch, had a great alliance of guilds and we had a peaceful server where the whales and mid - low spenders could progress together to get ready or future dev updates with KvK etc. . . Well two weeks in the Whales left and proceded to destroy everyone. . . . Because they were bored. Ok Ok we thought, we can pool together and defend. . . No. Why? Resurgence. THAT STUPID "FEATURE" LOCKS EVERY NON WHALE IN THEIR REGION! This pretty much lets whales destroy everyone, as long as they put more money to resurge and re-up their policies...WHICH THEY DID. It made it impossible to defend and THE WHALES KILLED THE WHOLE SERVER! This was before season one ended. The fact that THREE PEOPLE were able to take on like 15 guilds on the whole server and beat them ALL, without ANY resistance, made me realize that this game was just a cash grab. This is the ONLY game I've gotten a refund over. Period. Everyone should stay FAR AWAY from this game and from this company. This game was a total scam. Fuck this game and company.,

The hero design at first was the biggest talking point between a lot of my friends and I…we came from Dawn of Titans and the character design in that game is the best I’ve ever seen. So by comparison the cartoonish characters were a bit strange…but honestly, don’t even notice anymore. The gameplay is great, and love the ability to team up with friends in real time. Actual ranged combat…rock/paper/scissors…PvP and PvE content…overall the game is great. I’m curious what is the best F2P kingdom builder out there…all the games like this seem to be pretty spender friendly….

I am 33, let me be the first than... i like the characters 😁 Two things i have a problem with. When i first begun there was a quest to open a dark chest with a dark key. Somehow i had a bug or something, because when i went to that chest, my heroes were pretty low level. But the guards around it were much higher up than mine! Plus there were 3 groups around the chest i needed to defeat. I've tried what i could, but i never had a chance... not even a small one. Not even with mutliple heroes. So i've got the the COD discord and explained everything. I've got a reply, see what they could do... but still until this day.. it hasn't changed. I am not even sure it is a bug anymore? But anyways.... whenever i've upgraded my heroes the guards around the chest were even higher up as well!! So frustrating!! The second thing. I as well, because of that, took a large break of months. Now recently i've kind of started again. But, we are now in season 2! And i am as well. All the chapters from season 1 i still needed to do are just marked done. All the chapers of season 2 are marked done, since season 3 is coming soon i suppose. So when i want to see how the story continues i need to replay all the conversations. And this has something to do with the season reset i suppose. Although i didn't have to level all things up again... maybe i really do have a bug on my account or something haha. So weird. Which ... ok... leads me to a third thing. I absolutely loved the beginning of COD. I really enjoyed the stories, the characters and the quests inbetween to continue on with the story. To me personally, the thing that other people can steal from you, or attack you, is something they could leave away actually. But that's my opinion.

A lot of things you mentioned like gathering gems or seasonal tokens goes the same way for everyone and there is no way f2p or low spender could be stronger than whale. Second thing, idk if you looked for it but devs changed some things in newest season: about grinding hero levels reset to 30lvl if they are above it and artifact levels dont reset at all. Alliances system: if you end up season in specific alliance you start the next season in region the alliance was created and automaticaly join this alliance. Of course i agree with some things like hero skills and the fact anyone can switch side at any moment is for me the worst thing in this game. And btw your story is at chapter 1 because on the new map they added new story quests and most likely this will happen everytime on new map. And the tokens are not limited to seasons but generations. Right now we are getting 2 new heroes per season and second generation contains 2 heroes of each type so you can gather seasonal tokens for 4 seasons before you can use them on all "new" heroes. During 4 seasons even f2p players can get a lot of legendary tokens.

i dont know whether you are familiar with how lilith doing power creep but restriction on gems gathering and cant send mana/gold to main account is nail in the coffin for f2p. yes you can't be stronger than whale but you are still able to go toe to toe with whale on battle field if you doing the right thing like 12inchpvpness that omniarch said as the tip example of "the best" f2p account on rise of kingdom. i dont see the same way with call of dragon. and season reset is still shit system anyway and the community just non exist in CoD with betraying being the meta like chisgule discuss in his video.

I find the taste varies so much... I love Pepsi Max but some bottles are just different... some are sweeter than others... I like the 1.25l.... should be the same, but 100% it's not. Just like Coke zero.... man, some bottles are just the best, and others are "dry", not as sweet, flavourful. Mixing is just not consistent. Overall I prefer Pepsi Max, but 100% Coke zero is very close behind.

I agree with most part of this. Community was great on my server but there was also so many changes with everyone jumping to the winning team when their alliance was on losing ground. That ultimately broke the community as it continued to be a game where you jump to the strongest when you are losing to not lose progress. You also end up fighting those that fought alongside you earlier in the game and it just became really toxic. I went back for a short bit when Pokemon came along but the game was too time consuming for a mobile game. Wars were tooooo long and eventually it was basically a war of who has the biggest wallet or who could stay online longest. For someone that has a life outside of gaming (yes some of us do 😂) it was not cool to be waiting on a gate to fall and then contributing to a war that goes on for hours...

2 main red flags for me: 1. The combat system is too complicated! I am not able to calculate an approximate outcome from fights! skills, talents, troop types, hero types, etc.. You just need to hope and assume that you have built the best combat march with the given puzzle 2. t5 troops not reachable even in the future: It will take years and years to collect treaties and especially arrows in order to reach t5 as a free-to-player. Because everyone here is an ROK experienced players who likes to spend money, it's difficult to compete here, so the game requires new players but since it's too complicated we can't see new faces coming to join

Unfortunately it all comes down to the amount of player participation present to have any kind of fun, and people want to play with people that pay. I also seen there is no strategy. You may win battles, but not a war. Players just 'ante up' to fight more battles.

I lost about 50% interest when you said Coke was better than Pepsi, but I stayed anyway. I started playing Rise of Kingdoms after I wanted more of a Clash of Clans-like game which I've played since its debut, and as good as ROK is, the servers are dictated by the higher ranking players who can "zero" your power level any time they want, which has got me searching for a new thing. Hopefully I'll learn more from you about this one, because the UI looks uncannily similar to ROK, but I don't want the same bombshell to be dropped on me as in ROK.

The F2P nerf is a turn off for me. I spent 113 days since I started rising from 0 to my current 8.3M power and felt so good about surpassing the old alliance, only to see a new premium account come in and hit 12M power in the span of two weeks... My Cao Cao has been levelling up to star level 5 for two weeks and is still only at 49.2% while this guy went straight to 6 star level 60 Legendary commanders (Æthelflæd Cao Cao, El Cid, Julius Caeser, Mulan and Pyrrhus) in that time and completely levelled several 3M accounts to zero. At least I understand the reason behind the similarities now.

Yeah, I quit also for most of the same reasons. The changes they must make, is to make it a funner Rise of Kingdoms. There must be a balance between what you grind and what you get, and in Rise of Kingdoms itself the grind os unbalanced in such a way that many players actually quit because it takes so long to grow. So the balance is very delicate between growing happily without taking a lifetime and having many farms to take care of to manage a high resource cost that actually makes people sell resources to players outside the game, that is absurd, but the game itself makes this happen and this takes from the pleasure of playing it because the high cost of Healing high tear troops is just too unbalanced. Now imagine this applied even harder in Call of Dragons and it becomes insustainable, especially if you already play ROK. And the fighting system in Call of Dragons as you mentiones isn't as intuitive as in Rok and sometimes you just prefer to play the less complicated game. Very good video well described and most ppints very well exposed so these points recall to developers what actually is the reason to play the game, and that is to have fun and satisfaction doing so.

I start call of dragon couse one problem RoK have right now is, as a person who want to start, you feel like you are minute one, 4 years begin everybody, every video you see is "Just get to t5 and well don't invest anything in any commander you have at hand couse they all are trash at the end" the power creep in that game is massive. In theory with CoD they are going to work more in expanding mechanics than just making a better version of the hero, is too soon to tell that right now, so far the new heroes are just another way to play, like kinnara/nico been defense breake, and syndrion/ffraegard been crit archers. The graphics are petty, even RoK is going to have like a glow up of the graphics, but the character design is....weird, and not like a cool weird like something like Warframe, is only weird The combat is amazing, the best part of the game so far, but is true he wants more of you, i think at the end is a preference if you want a more active combat game or more like a send at forget kind of game And the community is a big big problem of this game, is really hard to mantain a community in this games, they have been working in more guild permanence in the last season, but still need work, yeah is a war game, but you can't war all the time, and between war you should be part of the community, do other stuff, if i only want a PvP game i play the other CoD (call of duty) or league of legends. This tipe of games are a middle ground between a PvP game and a MMO. I don't have much time for other games so i will see how CoD evolved xD hope is for the better

I've quit due to the abusive behaviour ongoing. Literally, the server depleted at week one due to that. COD was a nice game, but servers were populated mostly by sociopaths! Too expensive, reset stealing stuff we pay for (CP, artifacts upgrade items, the list goes on)... NO, thanks. What idiot wants to pay that much and invest time too only to be abused and stolen from?

I like RoK, but bot detector kept blocking my account since I would play it on breaks at work, and couldn't always catch the bot detector, or stay on long enough to complete it. Once I was hit with a year long ban on my account, I quit. Call of Dragons skips this, and allowed for a low level spender to at least play. I'm not a whale, but I am a daily player, who grows steadily and joins group activities when able

Why? Hitting darklings and farming repeatedly and redoing most of what was done already is fun, no? It's great to repeat tings a 1000 times. What's great too is the fact T5s are so overpowered you've no chance unless you hit from behind and from cover. It's great too having a super short engagement and actual fighting then dying really quick in the chaos and having to retravel back and engage for another 2 seconds before having to do it again. Oh, and sitting across from the other side and having a 2 hour stare down is amazing too - it's great to just sit and waste time online and do nothing. I've spent many many thousands on the game, am entirely incapable of being objective, but allow me to find 1 thing that is good versus 1000 things that is bad about the game, and go on about it, so I can feel better about my choice..... so I'm just going to say I love my 2 seconds of fun and this is an amazing game.

1. Your artifact levels stay the same now in new seasons and heroes start out at lvl 30. 2. G1 and G2 tokens can be used on any hero regardless of when they came out, 3. it's not pay to win. it's progression based monetization. your progress in the game is limited by building time, etc. how you bypass the limit in your progress? by paying. progression based monetization. pay to win is when the cash shop has things that you can purchase to give you advantage over someone that don't have these things, and you can only get these things by spending money in the cash shop. this is what pay to win is. is Call of Dragons predatory? yes. but it's not pay to win. watch this video "Let’s go whaling: Tricks for monetising mobile game players with free-to-play".

Why? It's great to be a T3/T4 lower spender and travel a lot just be to zeroed in seconds. I love farming too non stop and grinding darklings for hours straight. I love too the lack of events. And of course collusion of alliance who are so shortsighted and who just want to dominate that they end up ruining and killing a season and leaving it such that there is nothing to do for half of it. I feel like I am in the minority when it comes to character design atleast for legendary ones I really like them and yes I am not 13 I am 19 xD but aside that I agree specially with the limiting gem farming its so annoying, and another point thats annoying in call of dragons is that some artifacts are locked behind a big paywall which heavily damages f2p games because those p2w artifacts are much much stronger than f2p artifact even for legendary ones on the tavern and tbh this is what would make me quit if not addressed

These type of games you have to drop like 20k+ on your server as a new player to be on top. 4+ months later there is a server merg because the server done died. You now are no longer top 10 after spending 20k. You are now top 100. You need to spend another 20k to get back to top 10. Now you're at 40k in spending. 4-5 months later there is another server merge. You're now top 50. You need to spend another 30k to get to top 10. Now you have spend 70k. The cycle continues and never ends until the whales quit. You will never be able to run a clan, never be able to accomplish anything great as f2p. You will never get to end game as f2p. Better to not play these shit games. Unless your rich

Seasons only work in some kinds of games. PoE is perfect example. I don't play CoD (I've been watching it in the background), and it's not the kind of game that works well with seasons. Too many games are trying to hop onto the bandwagon now that they've seen how some season game are successful. But it's because players don't lose much by going to new season. There are a few other games that I dropped because on their season, you simply lose too much of what you worked for.
