Ok let's admit it, Polish women can be a real PAIN IN THE 🍑 sometimes 😅 They can be stubborn, strong willed and bossy but at the same time, many of these traits make them some of the best women to be in a relationship with.
My friend Phil from @Filip mówi po polsku co-hosted this episode with me and we had a lot of fun sharing our stories.
DISCLAIMER: We know these are generalisations and not all Polish women are like this. Also, we did this in a light fun way so please don't feel offended.
Poz!

When you alter the plans just like that we first get pissed you ruined the scheme and then we're trying to go through all the plans in our head looking for things that will need to be readjusted 😜 And yes, I may be stubborn, but my Polish husband is just as stubborn. Friendly correction: I think you mean "system", not "scheme". "Scheme" in English is not the same as "schemat" in Polish, and it's usually very pejorative. "Schemat" in Polish is closer to one of the meanings of the English "system".

She's always stressed, she wants to do many things at once, she moves fast and the floor bangs - unlike Latinos, but she's beautiful, very willing to help, super smart. She is learning Spanish and when I speak Spanish to her she complains, she says I only do it when I am angry.😂😂 I enjoyed the video very much, I hope to see you in August. Éxito a ambos.

Vigo and Phil, great video. I'm Polish but I grew up in Australia and like you I am honoured to have a Polish wife. For a joke one night I hung my underwear on an empty hook in our living room before I went to bed. I left for work the next day completely forgetting what I've done. Later that day while I'm at work, a gas maintenance engineer (which my wife booked) came to our house to do an inspection. While he was doing the inspection he looked up on the wall and saw my underwear hanging on the hook, that second my wife noticed what he was looking at

Hello from USA. I really like watching your videos as I can better understand how others percept us. Funny that on other foreigner videos I hear usually how quiet we are, e.g. in restaurants or at intimate settings, So 'loud' took me by a surprise! But true. My daughters complained about my loud music in the morning while they sleep. As also Polish they had to come across in a firm way to enforce softening of my morning routine. Polish women still mostly marry Polish men with who we naturally complete the picture. They are a huge part how we behave. Polish men are handy, work most of the time after work at home or garage or gardens. They love their projects. Being a single in USA I just can't wrap my head around how 'admirers' are ... 'useless' as my Latia female friend says slowly & firmly. Even when being a teenager, I had always someone who could fix TV, electricity, furniture or a car (Polish men friends). Everything was done. To find a man who is a gentleman, handy man when needed, agreeable, collaborative but strong enough not to be destroyed by a Polish woman is not easy man... We like when men know where there are the boundaries, can calm us down & when they are protective.

Let's face it: we Poles are not only stubborn , but also rebellious which can be explained by historic context and instinct of survival as a nation throughout our turbulent history and thanks to this, we are not Germans or Russians. I was born and raised in Poland, and when I was growing up in Poland in the 90's, quite a bit number of Polish ladies around me were pretty focused on the wealth factor. I came from a modest background so I was not a popular guy. Eventually, I married an American women and moved to the States and we have been happily married for a long time. But I am still friends with Polish women who are married to Americans and they are ambitious, outspoken, hard-working, good Moms,...and yes bossy, big time bossy that I feel somewhat sorry for a guy. But those American guys seem to be fine with that....

Sooooo funny! Most of it is absolutely true. I'm a doctor, working mother of three sons, I live strictly by schedule. Some time ago my mother arrange an event in almost two weeks ahead and when she called to tell me about it I heard myself saying: "you cannot notify me in the last moment" 🙈 But I'm not loud, especially in the morning! I cherish every second when everybody is asleep 😆 Thank you for this video! By the way: you are both screwed, guys... 💋

Polish woman here😂 married since 5 years to an indonesian guy. We met while our studys in Germany, at the moment living in France, having 2 kids. Someone copy with that, please😅 My solution to get the things done at the house: invite polish friends/family. During the last vacation my brother and father added one room in the hause by mooving the furniture, fixed 2 doors, one gate and one window and constructed an easel in ONE afternoon. It would take minimum 2 weeks to explain to my husband what I plan to change( he is ingenier too, by the way😉) I am looking foward for the next vacation...

thanks for the video! I absolutely agree with that and I to be honest, I am now learning how to let things go and that I do not have to be perfect all the time. This gets me sick how I was brought up, that I had to meet some crazy expectations of my Mom. I am struggling not to have bad feelings of me taking the rest. Of course it's been commented in the family but sorry, I cannot waste ALL SATURDAYS for crazy cleaning actions.

I agree about the legendary Polish hospitality. There are two Polish sayings: "A Guest [coming] into the house [means] God Himself [coming] into the house" (Gość w dom, Bóg w dom), and "Get into debt but put yourself on [the table]" (Zastaw się, a postaw się)

As a polish woman who was raised in America, I do agree with a lot of this. If I’m stressed out I turn into a methodical nightmare woman who is relaxed, but also ready to rip the head off a hamster and paint the walls with hamster blood. I also like having special handmade soaps for when guest come. I also work on my own car and do most of my house stuff myself. I’m not waiting for people to find people to hire other people. Also, damn boy, you had time to record a whole podcast, edit it, and publish it, but you haven’t touched a screwdriver in years. Got it. Copy that.

Haha I think there is a lot of truth to that, what you need to understand is that this kind of stuborness, "hard" character and always looking for optimum was lernt by women many generations before, especially in war times and after. There were many families without men at that time (as they went to fight, some of them never came back), so in fact women tend to take a role of a male and a women in the family. They had to look for ways of doing things that usually men would do, even if that cost a lot of work or was considered hard. Also as money was the issue they would not hesitate to save up in milion of ways but still had things done and provided for all basic needs of the family . So in todays world Polish women are well-educated, they are very capable and won't take just ANY kind of answer of proposal, they themselves will look for doing things in most optimum way and they will act fast as if there is no time to loose. :)

Prawda,swieta prawda:) 1.If noone told you, we polish women haven't been too much pampered at schools and at homes,there is always a lot of pressure and expectations put on polish young girls, from everywhere ( I'm now grateful for all of that as I wouldn't have what I have today without that lessons). 2.So there comes a day that I realised that I'm actually capable of doing much more than I thought,than I'm smarter than they told me, with university degree, experience, ambitions, with good work ethic, honest,loyal, emphatic,good mom and just a good person. Maybe because there is 1 and 2 we sometimes seems to be difficult and bossy🤷‍♀️ Maybe because we know we own it, we finished those lessons, we gained skills, noone but we. Thank you for the video, I really enjoyed, it's soo true😉 💖

@Carrie-so3ro
@Carrie-so3ro Ай бұрын
I have to admit that even though I am Canadian born it appears that my Polish heritage is still alive & kicking quite well. I match every one of your complaints (except for the rattling loose things to the point where they absolutely break.) Polish women (like Polish men) are probably more intelligent because our brains are made to be, we're in training from the very start. You are TAUGHT to think ahead - a NUMBER of steps. You are taught to plan. You are taught to consider outcomes. You are taught to CONSIDER what someone says & don't just accept that what the person is saying is true. We KNOW that the other person could have a motive in what they say to us or have gotten the original information mixed up etc. As your friend said, it doesn't mean we won't change our minds on something - we are often quite willing to (unless it is a matter of religion, morals, family etc.) BUT you DO have to show us a GOOD reason to change our minds. We know that we came up with our view BASED on thought (or long-term family practice & tradition - & traditions are also important to us) & to change our view, you DO have to provide as much thought as we put into ours & have it very reasonably spelled out. We are also NOT lazy people - the men or the women. When other people say that they will do it later, we want it done now because we want it FINISHED - so it goes off of our mental do-to list & gives us some mental relief that 1 issue is DONE. ALSO - those that say they will do it "later" , usually do not have any SHORT "later" in mind, but instead some very vague time, somewhere in the future. To us, that is not good enough. There will be plenty of OTHER things to do by the time you get around to "later" to handle, so you do what needs to be done NOW. (Also, we KNOW that life doesn't always go the way we want & things CAN HAPPEN in the future that prevent whatever thing from being done then. Now is always best unless there is a good reason to put it off - like illness, a twisted ankle, some other issue that NEEDS to be done NOW. We are also detail-oriented. That is also why we plan - & we like to get things perfect (or as close to perfect as possible.) This is the reason we don't like things thrown at us at the last minute. Doing things quickly without much forethought, means it will never be done as well since we can't get to all the details of it & do it as well as we would like. Hosting is also DRILLED into our brains from a young age. It is about courtesy & showing others a hospitable welcome (& respect) - whether at home or elsewhere - & this includes LOTS of food. (It will even be a SCANDAL - literally - talked about throughout the whole community & REMEMBERED - for YEARS, or life - if you are cheap with not providing enough food, etc). Everyone will be completely scandalized by how CHEAP you are & you will not be looked at the same for a long time (during which you will have had to host more times with the proper amount (& quantity) of things. Yes, we want to look nice when we go out & we certainly expect our men to do the same. Don't men enjoy the look of a woman all fixed up? We like to see our men all fixed up too. Furthermore we get dressed up & you will be with us & if you don't bother to fix yourself very nicely too - you show us that WE ARE NOT WORTH THE EFFORT - a sign you do NOT respect or care for us that much if you won't bother for us. Just my reaction as a Polish-Canadian woman. (I told you I still had my Polish heritage in me. 🙂)

5:50 yes, you are right, it is the different way different cultures expose their emotion. For example I spent time in Sweden, and when you first go there everything is calm and nice. But when I lived for a while and know the culture, you understand that's not the case. Sometimes " world falls apart" and they are still cool. But only on surfise. Inside they expload.
