Even RDJ portrays a method actor who goes surgery become a black character received criticism. What the hell is this? He is not portraying the black character but an actor who plays the character.

@@sambhavsingh7415 nah. That wasn't his role. His role is an Australian actor, who is playing the part of a black man, so his goes through controversial skin pigmentation alteration (his character who is Australian) but his character isn't making fun of black people imo. It's making fun of those actors who take themselves so seriously that they do things which are not correct. He wasn't doing blackface. His character in the movie was, and that was the point they wanted to make. Which is why his way of speaking was stereotypical too. The movie was satire, in the sense it was making fun of Hollywood and to what lengths actors will go to.

@@TalkAsSoftAsChalk but the problem with Farah Khan, KJo school of thought is they look for so called traditional fair good looking person, they can't employ nawaz or Irrfan as their lead actors, I agree that you can't look perfectly like some ethnic-racial person, but you can still convincingly manage with the proper accent and body language for ex a guy from Ireland plays the lincoln and manages to win academy award, though I agree that they both are white but still you can convince people with your acting chops like Ranbir has done in Sanju.

@@RahulKumar-ng2gh Of course I totally agree. It's obvious what Farah was initially going for was that you have to be fair and good-looking in order to play someone who is rich which is so damn ignorant. She then changed her statement a bit by bringing up the race thing. Maybe she realized just how stupid she would sound if she said the first thing.

@@SinhaUrv I watched some part of that interview some times back don't remember what were they exactly talking about, but if I'm not wrong srk was talking about commercial and money making aspects of the cinema industry in some parts. That interviewer wanted to bash him when it was his turn, he said you talked about money in your last ten minutes ( or something like this) and he replied like that. Which means in this world people only look up to you and listen to you when you are someone important or you have the money to spread your words because your wealth shows your success and people like to listen to successful people who have power or are wealthy. For example why Bollywood actresses are considered role models for feminism or girls are interested in their thoughts? Not because they are more intelligent or educated than other women, but because they become successful, independent, made a lot of money which means they have power to show their success. Imagine you say something and no one takes serious, but if priyanka Chopra says the same thing would it be the same?

When a country is rich like US, intelligent or educated students from around the world go there to find an opportunity for their life and use the platform the country gives them to use their own talents, work and build their future. When a country is poor doesn't matter how many intelligent people are in it! Many are educated, if the country economically is broken it would be even worse many will be jobless. Educated people don't get what they deserve so they decide to migrate to a better place!! It's not an idealistic world but that's how it is. Some one like shahrukh who didn't have any money before in his young days and he has a lot now can definitely see the difference and have seen the bitter truth himself, even people's behavior towards you change! @Neel JaviaCasting actors from the same ethnicity of the caracters is not about appearance, it's about representativeness. Most movies have only (or mostly) majority groups representation, when a actor play a minority's role that person is taking away this opportunity from this group. Caracters being beautiful or not is not important in the movie most of the time
@vics4209
@vics4209 5 жыл бұрын
@Neel Javia off course acting skills cannot be compromised and the good actor should be choose (in the beauty example). When it's about representativeness it's not about looks, there're several actors that are perfect (when it's about ethnicity) and acts really well, it's not like they choose among someone that acts well and other doesn't. About Dr Stranger (and also Sherlock Holmes) actors choices the nationality is not the same but most Americans are from United Kingdom's families also caracter's ethnicity doesn't have a big role in the movie, they are also from a majority group. The choice hardly will be among 2 actors, there're thousand of actors. Most caracters are written thinking about majorites.

@@flash-uj6ly ab Hrithik se kya dikkat ho gayi tujhe??? HR is a good actor and an even better dancer. He got the sexiest Asian man of the decade title. Got the title of sexiest man in world title by several international magazines. Banda commercial movies bhi banata h like BANG BANG, WAR and inspirational movies bhi banata h like Super 30.. Ab aur kya chahiye. Nepotism se too aaya h wo, but he's not a burden on the industry like Arjun Kapoor, Ananya Pandey etc. He's an asset. We should be grateful that we have someone like HR in our Bollywood.

Glad you mentioned Tom Alter. A Shayar by soul and a gem of theatre, he constantly faced some of the most racist questions and prejudices throughout his whole life. Badly typecast as a Bad Britisher in most of his movies, the first question in his each and every interview was, how can he speak such fluent Hindi. In his interviews, I love his answers and I hate the questions.
