Thank you, Justine. I think I am slowly finding my style for card marking. Much of that has come from watching your videos and listening to what you’ve said. Over the past few days I’ve had several ‘a-ha’ moments that have helped me figure out what pieces of card making I enjoy - and which ones I don’t. Lovely cards. Thank you for the inspiration and for sharing your time and talent.

Thank you for a great demo video of really unique stencils from companies I love to support . They provide us with quality products to create the best art and a community where we can learn , encourage each other and grow as artists . It supports so many other good people with income I am more than willing to pay for the good stuff , even if I have to wait . Good job 👏 Those Alt e New stencils were amazing ( as usual ) . Netflix sentiment hysterical 🤣 Baby cards stump me too ( never would have though Visible Image was the go to for that one .) Heffy is always smuggling the cute stuff ( I think Lesley O. and Kelly A . are twins in another life ) .

next time you do the waves, spray your drops on between your flat background color layer and the waves layer. that way you can have the water droplets that look so nice with ocean background and won't lose your wave's definition since you haven't applied water on that last layer. it works for me.

I love all of these cards! I think I "must" have the Altenew Dahlia one, and "maybe" the scalloped (?) one. And that's not to say that I didn't love the other ones. I just want to know one thing: if people are so offended by the money that they think certain people are making, why is it okay for them to watch videos of those very products to get ideas? Isn't that hypocritical? I liked your answers, Justine, and your cards are just lovely!

I'm fairly new to card making & it's easy to be overwhelmed -- SSOOO many options, materials, techniques. I have learned there are some very capable folks who, when you see they've posted a new video, they are ALWAYS worth viewing cuz: consistently clear, detailed yet concise, well documented, inspiring & helpful -- you are DEFINITELY among them!! TSMFS!! (thks so much for sharing)
@justinehovey3 жыл бұрын
It can be insanely overwhelming as a beginner. My best advice is invest in the supplies for one technique and really master it before moving on. That way you know everything about it and can remember what those supplies are capable of.
@trevanji6 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what difference the glass mat would make? You are after all working on top of a stencil which is not moving. I have not done this technique, so could you elaborate, please :-).

Some things you can do. Watch the videos for inspiration. Buy only the items you feel very confident about using more than a few times. Watch for and shop when you see a sale or a coupon either online with the crafting companies or the brick and mortar stores. Know that brand names are always better than copies or unfamiliar items. Understand that the crafting online companies will stand behind their products and either replace or make good any problem. Be aware the online demonstrators share valuable time for you to learn. If they are able to make a little money out of your time watching their videos then good for them. Many of them that have no idea who I am have become a computer friend to me and I look forward to seeing what they have to say and make. Also, think about the number of people that are employed by large companies so they can support their families. Can call it capitalism if you want but it is necessary. But I do fully support smaller companies that try and work very hard to make their way in the world. Would like to add...the rant so to speak on this thread was the first time in 2 years I have seen such a thing and agree with the person below the comment that stated "entirely in appropriate "rants" for this video.

@justinehovey6 жыл бұрын
I'm not going to delete it, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I just wanted to education about unbranded and the impact it has. Anyway thanks for watching my video :) I was unsure about the turnabout stencils as well but I love them :) I hope they make more!
@Spicifiy16 жыл бұрын
OMG I've never seen such GROSSLY overpriced stencils. And if the prices aren't exorbitant enough, shipping is also ridiculously high especially considering that stencils are hardly heavier than a single piece of cardstock. These companies ought to get a clue that their days may be limited because crafters can get equivalent unbranded craft items for 90% less WITH FREE (& OFTEN FASTER) SHIPPING. That these companies have instructed Google's KZbin to TERMINATE accounts showing unbranded items has only served to alienate crafters even more.
@justinehovey6 жыл бұрын
I doubt that. There are many crafters, myself included, that value the design, thought, creativity and proper wages that branded items have associated with them. I prefer to know what I am funding when I buy my craft supplies and I’m sure it doesn’t include harsh working conditions, child labour and exploited populations. Thanks for sharing your opinion though but I take a firm stance against unbranded items.
@therustyvulture6 жыл бұрын
Those "unbranded" items are 99% of the time stolen images from the real companies and more often than not are inferior quality. So by buying those you are saying it's totally ok to steal and you may think that it's not hurting anyone but it is. What will you and the other crafters who support the thieves do when the real companies go under and they have no one to steal images, designs, or ideas from?
@Spicifiy16 жыл бұрын
Actually, what crafters are funding with these money-grubbing branded companies is CEOs that make (or USED TO MAKE) upwards of $8M a year PLUS BENEFITS. And they probably manufacture thru the same offshore companies as the unbranded sellers do. Offshore workers are better off now as low-wage slave laborers than they were before Clintonian "globaloney". As a matter of fact, the head of the Craft & Hobby Assn. is an off-shoring China expert. Part of what crafters are also paying for is the free products sent to people lik you & the subsidies you receive from your video links.
@justinehovey6 жыл бұрын
First of all I would love to know who is making $8 million because I need to apply for a job there 😂 secondly, every company needs to pay for marketing regardless of how they do it and sending free product to video makers is generally the way they can afford to market their products. After all, I work for FREE. The only money I receive on my channel is when people shop the links, that is true. But the nice thing about that is that I’m not taking the money away from these companies unless I do a good job and people shop and then we are both making money. So I think, in the end, I’m helping the industry far more by making a few dollars here and there than you are by buying unbranded supplies. Thank you for sharing your insight into the industry. We are never going to agree so feel free to continue to watch my free videos so you can support unbranded companies, post your negativity, whatever works for you. This is sure to inspire so many of us creators to continue producing free content.
@Spicifiy16 жыл бұрын
99% of the time the incredibly cheap unbranded dies are equal or superior in quality to the branded dies. I've also had better luck with unbranded stamps than the expensive ones I've bought at the B&M Big Box craft stores or online. I've had more trouble with intricate Spellbinders dies than equally complication unbranded ones. And if the unbranded companies are violating copyrights, the matter should be taken up with those companies not by U.S. companies filing violation accusations with criminal Google about crafters posting haul videos that MIGHT have shown a bootlegged item even though they had no way of knowing it' was a supposed "stolen" design. I consider the price of branded craft items THEFT, the shipping costs for snail-paced delivery outrageous, & the availability of new items pathetic.
