Why do the NZ mortgage repayment calculators default at a 30 year term if it isn’t offered? How do I accurately predict what the monthly payment might be? I’m coming from the US.

Our mortgages can either float, or we can fix for a range of periods from 6 months to 5 years. We cannot foresee where rates will be in the future, so this just gives us a rough figure that we can infer from
