The simple tricks such as "come" or "lie down" did surprise me at a little, but I figured it wouldn't take that long at all considering how smart cats are. (I knew that they're underestimated compared to dogs in some ways.) However for as quick as she caught on to how to do the "high-5" it did surprise me a little more.🙂

Yes, I thought that kittens meowed to their mothers. I didn't think it was a specific cat to human behaviour.

* No, not really. I've noticed that cats really watch their owners like a hawk. They are fully and consciously aware of who takes care of them. So they want to know everything that's going on with them. They will notice when you're not being quite yourself, and when you're not giving them the usual amount of attention. They really are creatures of habit and routine.

@@Catlily5they do care, and they’re loyal. My Bee was friendly with a former neighbour. I used to hear him chatting to her on the stairs. She would follow him when he did his laundry because the clothesline was on the roof. She loved getting out there. He was always mindful not to lock her out. Then I got into an argument with my roommate over a serious issue. While I was overseas visiting my mother, the roommate went to great lengths to get the neighbour on his side. So when I returned the neighbour and the roommate teamed up to make my life unpleasant. Bee wouldn’t have anything to do with the neighbour after that. I know this because he told me himself that he’d fallen out with her. No more friendly conversations on the stairs. Don’t mess with my mommy. 😂🐾😻💕

When my husband had cancer and entered hospice care in our home, our cat started laying at his feet on the bed. As he got sicker, the cat moved up higher toward his head. Cat would hiss at the nurses trying to move her so they could change his sheets. Finally she moved up by his shoulder and I knew that would be his last night with us. And it was. She’s awesome.

Sad that the poor hospice nurses had to deal with the house pet hissing at them. So sorry your husband died (janice) and with hospice care it wasn't pretty. My wife was a nurse who would have been trying to change the bedding of your husband while the cat was interfering. While the trope cat hissing at health care workers seems cool, the reality is that those nurses are trying to provide the best care they can to a dying person. It's a reality that people don't REALLY understand until they experience it. My wife died from covid recently. No pet to foreshadow. Only wonderful nurses providing the best care they could.

True story. My 13 yr old cat, Chester, told me I had cancer after I had found a lump between my right arm pit and my breast. He has always laid on my left hip, since he was a baby, and suddenly he started getting up under my right arm pit and meowing at me, non stop. He would nuzzle his head into my armpit and meow to me. That's when I knew. He told me and he was right. He knew. Could he smell it or just sense it? Well, It was cancer. I had a mastectomy of my right breast 07/27/2022. My baby boy has been my protector all along. He is my hero.

My sister-in-law took in my cat when I had a stroke and was sent to a nursing home for rehab. She was afraid her cat (a bad actor) would not be happy, but her cat actually accepted my cat and there were no fights, thank God. My SIL had a king-size bed and both cats slept on it. She told me that my cat was sleeping up against her abdomen and stomach and in fact she hadn't been feeling well. Her doctors didn't know what was wrong but she was in a great deal of pain. She said my cat "Junior" made her feel better by sleeping there. My poor SIL ended up being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and within a year, we lost her. Junior was a great emotional support to her and even though I came home from the rehab, I left him with her for 6 additional months until after her death. I couldn't have asked for a better home for him nor could I snatch him away. It is a common thing that if we were ill or had surgery and were lying on the couch recuperating, one of our cats would jump up and lie down with us, and I have the many photos to show it. I had one cat that was anti-social as all hell, just not a lap cat at all. I was fired from a job and even though it was spite and I was prepared for it, I was extremely upset. It was the only night that cat slept with me in her entire life (around 16 years).

Every night my cat Tiger gives me and my wife "ni ni lovings" When I'm ready to go to bed he soon joins us in bed, sometimes he will sleep with us and other times he just kneads into the blankets, and snuggles up against us. Even when he's asleep elsewhere and I go to bed, he always has that 6th sense awareness and wakes up to go join us. And when I wake up the next day, he lays in my lap after I've had something to eat. He is so precious and such a sweetheart. Cats are such an incredible blessing and a phenomenal joy to have!

I have definitely seen a mother feral use a special sound, sort of a trilling meow, to tell her kitten, hiding under cars, that it’s safe to come over to visit. She also meows for me, sort of a crying sound, to come out and feed her. And she’s very smart.

Yeah some of those studies are full of it. I've seen two feral adult cats, the male calling the female with a meow. It was a distinct meow; like it was directed. They were a bonded pair. I've also heard a certain meow can be a mating call. To say they molded it after babies crying is so anthropomorphic. Mammals, and mammal babies all over make noises, it isn't exclusive to humans.

Our kitty only got into my lap when I was pregnant. So when I got pregnant with our second child, I knew I'd conceived days before I could take the test, because she started curling up in my lap again. We got a big laugh about it. She also started to to howl something that sounded a lot like "mama" after a couple years of toddlers about. It was really alarming at 3 in the morning.

I cat-sat a lovely little ginger named Pelle (along with the people I lived with at the time) for a few months. I was really struggling with my depression at the time, some days worse than others. One day I was glued to my bed. Couldn’t for the life of me get up. Not even to get a glass of water. Pelle is normally a very independent cat. He doesn’t particularly like people touching him. However on this day, he snuggled up with me in bed and spent the entire day with me. From when I woke up until evening. ❤🥺I will forever treasure those moments. If it weren’t for his support, I don’t know if I would have me it through that day.

My previous cat and I were very close. I could always tell what he was feeling just from the look in his eyes. Whether he wanted attention or planned on doing something, he shouldn't. Fred was definitely my morning alarm clock he'd get upstairs and start crying at my bedroom door to wake me up so he could get his morning hug, unfortunately last year I found out he had a tumour and he had to be put to sleep. It's taken me almost a year to get over losing him. I now have a new kitten, but she's a lot of hard work. She's mostly at the stage where she wants to play and fight everything. I also keep an eye on her at 8 pm because that's when she goes completely wild, and I have to keep an eye on her until it's her bedtime. Nia's a lot of hard work, but she's very sweet when she wants to be.

I have two cats of my own but am daily visited by a number of strays. They have their own individual way of telling me when they want to eat and will even reply to me when I talk to them. Cats are far more intelligent than most people believe. When my Lucy comes in during the night she jumps on my bed and lets me know she wants fed by head-butting my chin. She doesn't do this lightly and there is no way I can avoid waking up and feeding her. She learned this from another female who unfortunately died earlier this year. I love all my cats, even the feral ones I can't touch but who are great company for me.

My cat of 13 years died 2 months ago from cancer. She taught me a lot. With her I finally figured out why cats meow at the door but don't go when you open it (it means "Let's go", not "let me out"). I taught her the "what's up" head shake. She was very hilarious doing it. And I always knew when she needed something. She would yell and I'd ask her to show, she would lead me where the help was needed. She knew my schedule and by the time of the alarm she was already waiting by the bed. And she could complain! I could come from work and she would tell me "all about it". I once asked who abused my cat while I was gone, my husband "me.. who told you? But I did not mean it. I offered her a treat, she came and I realized we were completely out". She did not talk to him anymore that day lol.

My cat used to wait in front of our bedroom door a few minutes before my gf got up to go to work. As soon as she'd open the door he started meowing (sounded more like talking really). He didn't want food or anything, she'd just pet him and talk to him and they did that pretty much everyday for the last years of his life. When she'd come back from work he'd often jump on the hood and start trying to get her attention through the windshield. I'm more on a bit of a night schedule and we had our own rituals and every time I'd come out the bedroom I'd wait about 2 seconds and hear him jump off his favourite couch and run over to see me. I've had numerous cats. I still love all of them even if they have passed away, and I'm not sure I can't take another heartbreak....call me weird, call me weak, I just miss them so much.

My 13 year old female Ragamuffin can understand when I speak to her and can tell time. 🙂 She gets a treat between 4:30 and 5:00 every afternoon. She'll find me and meow at me letting me know it's time. I have a dog and a parrot too. My cat doesn't react when I call their names, only hers.

Strangely my cats does not show any reaction when saying "treats!" or "food", even though they've heard it for years. They do react when saying the other cat's name, like directly looking in the direction of the Window (which they use to go in/out from) to see if the other cat is coming in.

I have 3 cats at the moment... They all know when I'm speaking to them individually if I use their own name before a sentence... They also know from my tone if I'm telling one of them off for bad behaviour such as starting a fight... The guilty party will look ashamed/petulant/feisty depending on which one it is while the others watch with interest, knowing that they are innocent 😂 😸

Folk who say cats aren't 'as intelligent as dogs' have rarely seen/had a cat. My 10 year old girl-cat is incredible. When I cry she stays closer to me, when its treat time she reminds me (very vocally lol & bizarrely even if shes been asleep & missed the time herself haha) she's an indoor cat so her 'gift' to me when i come in is what used to be a spider, always on the floor where i sit, she follows me from room to room, and bless her when i start getting my bags ready to go out she gets a bit twitchy as she knows I'm going out (I hate that she doesnt like me going out but needs must) Shes not one for constant fussing & its only ever on her terms lol but I know when she wants attention & she gets it. It amazes me just how intelligent cats are and how they have routines they like & stick to, little creatures of habit. ❤

I have two cats who are best buddies, and they do meow to each other. In the morning, one will be sleeping with me, and the other is somewhere else. The one by me will go downstairs and meow very loudly. The other one will come out from where he is and the two will begin early morning play. Sometimes after awhile, they will both come up to my bed and meow to wake me up to play.

My cat rarely meows, which I'd never experienced before (my last boy would "talk" back and forth forever). So if I hear a meow, I'm checking straight away. Experts keep saying cats do not meow at each other, but I caught mine on camera when I leave meowing and responding to each other. Not only that, but people put go pros on stray cats and cats meow at each other when they play, hunt, or are looking for each other when there are no humans around for miles. This needs to be re-researched.

Yes, I think the experts are way off on this, which makes me wonder if their videos are just repeating what other self proclaimed experts have said in their videos. I thought kittens meowed at their cat mothers for attention. Most pet cats are usually taken from their mothers at about 8 weeks old. The human owner (or guardian if you want) , responds to these meows, so the cat carries on doing them if it gets the response from it's human parent !

Two things about this. 😸 The first is that one of my two cats does meow at and to the other. He does this when they're playing or if he's looking for her. When I adopted him, I was told he had not been exposed to other cats, and he had come from a "bad" situation. They didn't elaborate on that. Both cats, Bobo, the Tabby male, and our female torti, were cats that came from either abusive or troubled situations. The second thing is Bobo helped me recognize I was seriously sick! Both Bobo and Cinnamon did, but Bobo especially. Long story short, I have a growth that's still currently being treated on the right side of my breast. It's actually so small it's not visible, able to be felt, but Bobo knew! He typically likes to sleep with me or sit with me on my chair. Last month, he started literally nuzzling in the crook of my right arm. But, he was also acting differently. He would go hide under my bed for an hour or two, and my daughter even commented he acted, "depressed". I took him to the vet, and he checked out physically ok, but the Vet told me I looked flushed 😳. I had been feeling nauseous, tired, but I had started a new medication recently, so, thought nothing of it. Again, to make it short a few days after Bobo's visit, I, MYSELF was rushed to urgent care with a high fever, on the verge of whatvthe doctors said becoming Sceptic. I was immediately put on antibiotics and thankfully am doing better. Though I am still taking antibiotics now, I realized Bobo apparently noticed my illness long before I did. He's still playing Dr. Bobo as he continues to insist on sleeping in the crook of my right arm. He has Nurse Cinnamon because she began sleeping on my leg, lol. I was not a cat person until I adopted them. I love them so much and learn so much from them. Btw, I enjoy the channel very much. It's helped me to make sure my kitty angels are happy, healthy, and living their best cat lives. A big Thank you from Bobo, Cinnamon, and myself.

How odd to suddenly develop this serious of an allergy to them! Do they go outside? I'm wondering if maybe they're getting into something (like a plant) and that's what you're allergic to instead. Anyway, I've seen these wipes that are used for quick clean-ups for cats. Would help remove either the dander or saliva you're allergic to short term. They're sold pretty much anywhere there's a pet department. Good luck to you!

Jawning is contagious right? I noticed our cat jawning after my mother as they both lay on seperate couches watching TV at night. First our cat jawnd silent but my mother jawns loudly everytime, so lately our cat imitates her loud jawn with the same voicing. Since our cat noticed this got our attention and my mother always respond with calling his name and "oh you must be so tired" he now uses this to signal us he wants to get petted while he stretches and rolls on his back acting all cute. But he will only jawn loudly when he is on the couch and my mother is around. He will also notice my car by the motor sound from far while he is outside and is at the door to geet me when I visit my mother. I saw him running throug the neigbours gardens while approaching in my car. Then he gets some extra food by me outside the feeding schedule. Before he starts to eat he makes shure to thank me by bumping his head to my arm or leg. He sometimes even had bitten and scratched the newspaper outside the door in the morning on weekends out of frustration because my mother sleept longer than usual and he couldn't get in and get food. He gets thanked when he brings mice as gifts but he knows my mother dosn't like him to catch birds and he got scolded everytime he brought a bird. He dosn't like to eat those smal birds eigther but as we found later he kept a secret bird collection in the barn.

Interesting video. I did notice raising foster kittens that have never been around baby humans that the foster kittens that had a mother cat learn to meow to their mother or vice versa for attention or food or if they didn’t know where their mother is. I saw one kitten that didn’t know its mother was taking time away from it by hiding under a cabinet constantly meow for the mother to hopefully comfort her it to get food so in my opinion cats didn’t learn to meow to humans from human babies but that’s something they did by nature to their original mother cat and they probably learned learned that they could get humans to behave in a certain way so just to bring them food pay attention to them.

Some cats prefer to scratch on a horizontal surface. one can get a carpet"sample" ,often for free from a carpet store.put it where the kitty is scratching on the floor for them, where they naturally want to scratch. That way they have their own special place that is ok for them to scratch, and it will protect the carpet. their "scratch places" are often territorial,so one should take it as a complement that the kitty chose that place to "scratch". Technically, mama cats and kittens do meow at each other. Once the nursing time is over and they're off to their new homes, the meowing between cats stops. They'll growl and hiss to protect their owners and their territory. Always get you cat fixed. If you live in a city/town/village, check the leash laws because 9 out of 10 times domesticated animals, including cats, are required to be their leash (in control of the owners) at all times that they are outdoors. Our police officer friend had their cat harnessed and I asked him why and he said that the law required it even though the cat was in the back yard, she was harnessed, on a run line, with a tree to climb. You need a harness in case the cat gets caught on the tree so it doesn't hang itself. We just keep our cat indoors. LOL...much easier that way.
