I'm 90% certain that Dracula 2000's twist was lifted straight out of Vampire the Masquerade, where the original vampire was actually Caine. You know, Caine and Abel, Caine. Bible literally says Caine was cursed to walk the earth for eternity. Makes for a great lore point.
@vincentmutel7313
@vincentmutel7313 Жыл бұрын
The Bible doesn’t say anything of the sort, neither literally nor otherwise. Cain (not Caine) is condemned to a lifetime of wandering, not of everlasting roaming of the earth. He eventually builds a city. Genesis chapter 4, verses 1-18.
@jaycenzimbeck7638
@jaycenzimbeck7638 Жыл бұрын
@@vincentmutel7313 Hmmm after some research I will concede that it doesn't specify that he will wander eternally, but neither does it specify that he will wander for a lifetime. (Of course, there's about a thousand different translations of this book so pretty much any of them could say anything) Furthermore, unlike most important characters in the Bible, Caine's (I'll spell it how I like since it's originally from a different alphabet and therefore no spelling in English is "correct") death is not actually recorded. This means that a common interpretation is still eternal wandering, with the implication being that Caine does still walk among mankind. Of course, that's just an interpretation and how you have chosen to interpret it as a lifetime could also be correct. He also built a city in Vampire the Masquerade btw. A Vampire city. Very cool. Goes horribly for all involved though.
@vincentmutel7313
@vincentmutel7313 Жыл бұрын
@@jaycenzimbeck7638 You just can't say "literally" and afterwards talk about "interpretation". It's one or the other, not just the one that suits you at a given moment. And whether you like it or not, there IS a correct spelling in English, and it’s "Cain".

Who hires Christopher Eccleston to be your Big Bad and then subtitles him the whole movie? 😁 Okay, sure... Elvish language for ''depth,'' but is it so important that the audience needs to *read* the dialogue just to be able to follow along? It may have worked for ''Lord Of The Rings,'' but I felt it robbed Eccleston's villain of gravitas.

What's funny, is that when I was a kid, my dad and I would go see movies based on how much people hated them. "Most people are morons and wouldn't know an entertaining movie if it slapped them in the face." So movies that bombed or were critically panned, or movies that nobody was talking about, were our goldmine. Admittedly, some were any combination of those three things for good reason, but a lot of then were kind of hidden gems. This was also before the internet really took off, so it was kind of like feeling around in the dark to find them, versus numerous KZbin videos talking about them. Which honestly felt a lot more rewarding, in comparison.

Reign in Darkness. It is a HORRENDOUSLY lazy, zero-budget Blade-meets-The-Matrix wannabe of a movie, one so bad and obscure it doesn't even have a Wikipedia page, and which I'm convinced was only able to get as much funding as it did because the man who wrote, directed and starred in it (oh yes, it's one of THOSE movies) pitched the ending reveal. To make a long story short, there are two "big reveals" by the head vampire at the end. #1: The vampire coven now live in what is essentially a tomb, not because of anything to do with being undead, but because humanity has polluted the environment to such a catastrophic degree that they must now live in seclusion under a gargantuan network of air purifiers just to keep themselves from suffocating. #2: The supposed AIDS cure they wanted the protagonist to develop was not a ruse. They actually wanted to eradicate the disease, ideally before it infects the entire population and the vampires starve to death. It might have made for an intriguing movie if only they had just written a book and let Hollywood adapt it later. Instead it's wasted on what looks at best like an overly ambitious film major's midterm project.

Dracula 2000 had great casting for Dracula's wifes, same like in Van Helsing.

Most people didn't like it cause it used the title and didn't have the inbreed trio. Apart from that, the movie was alright.

Dracula 2000 reminds me of Vampire: The Masquerade in which it's revealed that the first vampire was Cain and god cursed him with essentially the same exact punishment. I think it works a little bit better since Cain was biblically cursed to wander the earth for eternity and Judas definitively hanged himself, but that's a bit nitpicky.

I would have laughed if the next immediate movie after Jason Goes To Hell was… Freddy Vs. Jason. The whole movie was mid, but the final title bout was epic.

Dracula 2000 is horrible but that spin on the start of vampires was wildly imaginative to me.

I gotta add Moonfall. The entire movie was predictable trash until the end of the 3rd act revealed that the moon was an alien megastructure being overtaken by an AI swarm of nanobots and Samwell Tarley is absorbed into its consciousness. Genius.

Not only did Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022 ignore all the previous sequels, it ignored the original and turned the almost pitifully pathetic Leatherface into an unstoppable killing machine.

I saw Dracula 2000 in the theaters and they HEAVILY foreshadowed he was Judas. I remember at the end of the movie, just before the reveal, I yelled out "Literally anyone but fucking Judas" and when it was revealed he was Judas, I yelled out "No fucking duh Captain obvious. That's why this movie sucked!"

I went to see Dark Phoenix because I wanted to see the X-Men one last time before Disney could reduce them into clowns And despite acknowledging its problems, I was able to enjoy the movie a lot It's the little things that made the movies so endearing Even the bad ones have something good to offer, something better than the MCU

Except for the first Iron Man, this list couldn't have been filled with MCU movies because they are all just photo-copied scripts and plotlines book-ended by terrible writing and terrible endings. Sad.

I suppose one might consider Revenge of the Sith too good a movie for this list, but I think in terms of the difference in quality between the end of the movie and the *rest* of the movie, it belongs more than AotC. Seriously - I don't even remember the first 2/3 of the movie, but know the last third by heart. Ironic.
