I have read the bible through before, some days I would read and other days I would listen to the audio bible. I want to do it again, I have always wondered why I tried to hurry through it. We shouldn't just read the bible to say, "oh I have read the whole bible!" We should study it and really dig deep into it and not just read it to say that we have read the whole thing. @@Shaytrilly Thats good. Keep reading. It isn't a race, about who can read the bible the fastest, because you can know everything there is about the bible and still not have repented of your sins and be saved by Gods grace and mercy. You could be the richest, most charming, well liked person on earth and still not be saved unless you repent and admit your sins to God. What is important is that you medititate (not yoga meditation, but medititate in the word, which means to dwell upon a verse or verses) in the word and take the time to understand it. God bless.

By the way, you were talking about study notes already in the Bible. I would 100% recommend a filament Bible. You scans each page on your phone. And it has all kinds of stuff (study notes, infographics, interactive maps) . Yet if just want to read the Bible you can.

For me, reading the Bible is not just “learning about God” though that is happening. It is the main way I spend time with Him. I respond to natural prayer prompts, praising Him, thanking Him, or petitioning Him based on what I’m reading. I am using an NIV but plan to switch as well. I use a highlighting guide that I created, that are all action items: yellow=do this, blue=avoid this, purple=research this (if I don’t understand or want to dive deeper), green=pray this. I do experience reading the Bible emotionally and feel closer to God when I’m doing it, but it is also intellectual, where I am learning, and I seek to put what I learn into practice.

Last fall I started a 90 day Bible reading plan. It was intense, but I really enjoyed it! Sadly, I got about two months into it and had to stop. So it ended up being I read the Old Testament in two months. I stopped because I was too exhausted from my pregnancy, taking care of my 1 year old, and moving into a new house. But I plan on trying again at some point, probably with a new Bible as I have had my current one for 20 years.

When you're reading the NIV or ESV versions, you're reading from corrupt manuscripts called the Alexandrian manuscripts and Codex Vaticanus. These versions also are missing many verses. I use mainly the KJV. I also recommend the NKJV. I graduated from Altoona Bible Institute. We only used the KJV. I keep an NIV for reference only.

I've read the Bible several times through. If you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend a Chronological reading of the Bible. It puts everything in context for you. Nehemiah is placed early in the book canonically but chronologically it would be read much later in the life of the Jewish church. It's been a huge help. I'm not sure I'd read through the Bible any other way again... although I also do studies of individual books or themes. (I do both types each year)

Hi hi! I subbed to your channel and the vlog channel not too long ago and I love the way you two encourage your audience! What’s funny is that yesterday I started a Bible plan of reading the whole Bible in a year, cuz deep down I feel guilty for not reading the whole Bible. With this video, I feel encouraged to keep on reading and digging deep into the Bible, the more I dig deep into it with the devotional, the more I understand it! The good thing I like about that plan, is that they give explanation of what each chapter from Old and New Testament is actually about! And I agree with listening to the audio while reading scripture, I tend to have more information on my head than reading it in my mind. I’m more of auditory learner in some cases, such as reading. Visual in some other areas. I like this video a lot and I can’t wait to see what else you have in store! I’m very glad that I found you both in my KZbin recommendations! 💖💖

I read it cover to cover because, to me, I can follow the story of it better. I also listen as I read and sometimes will go on a walk and read! I am contemplating reading it through one more time in English before reading it in Spanish or I might read it in Spanish next...still thinking about it. You and I did it an oposite way-I read it in one year the first time and a little over 2 years the second time. First time I had no notes, second time I had study notes! Love that you and I had very similar methods!
