1. as for "sightseeing trams" - D is great choice, it gets you from Hauptbahnhof aaaaall the way to Nussdorf, passing much of the city center, then through parts like Alsergrund and landing you in Nussdorf, from where you can hike up to Kahlenberg :) ... also, Badner Bahn - from Karlsplatz to Vosendorf/Siebenhirten you can still go with your Kernzone ticket, and you see also underground tram section and dedicated tracks running alongside regular Sudbahn, and from Vosendorf you can get all the way to Baden, beautiful route and Baden itself is very nice, also has beautiful woods and river Schwechat nearby :) 2. great vantage points - from Heiligenstadt station you can get a bus to Kahlenberg, and there is a great vantage point kind of behind the church, and you have pretty much all of Vienna in your sights... Habsburgswarte isnt too far, but the hike there isnt for the faint of heart/legs, since it is located on Vienna's highest hill, Hermannskogel (and the opening hrs are kinda weird :D ) ... also, bridges offer great views, e.g. Brigittenauer Brucke or the one near Handelskai :) not from height, but since the view is clear you can see a lot of the city too :) ... also, should you visit Lainzer Tierpark, you are bound to have nice views - I once did some major uphill walk AROUND Lainzer Tierpark from Purkersdorf, and after scaling some major slope and getting near Laab am Walde, the view was gorgeous :D 3. one of spots that definitely shouldnt be missed is the grand Gasometer... you can get there by U-Bahn, which gets you like directly in front of it, you get up using escalators, and you can just walk through the whole thing, taking in the atmosphere, and walk of fame featuring many famous artists :) 4. taxis? never heard of her :D I mean, even if you used just U-Bahn and S-Bahn, those get you to many spots... if you add trams and Badner Bahn, you got most of the city covered... and buses can get you to finer and more remote locations... plus also any OBB branded train that has at least two stops within Vienna, is included in the Kernzone ticket (they recently added the Kernzone discount also to CJX9 to Wiener Neustadt/Payerbach-Reichenau)... I mean, seriously, why would you pay for a taxi when you have a system that gets you pretty much anywhere except maybe deep woods lol :D 5. seasons lmao, tell me about it :D on one of my visits, there was super heavy snowfall, so heavy in fact that I told myself fck it I am just going to ride trams around the city and have a relaxing time :D ... but... when I had to get off at Baumgarten and get to the stop for way back, I could barely see the road crossing lol :D ... or last time when I went to see Kahlenberg, I took the bus cos the snow and ice was everywhere and I didnt feel safe making the hike up on foot :D and then there are charming little towns around Vienna - Klosterneuburg, Korneuburg, Wolkersdorf (met the cutest black cat in there, even let me pet her lol), Modling, Baden, Mayerling... Wiener Neustadt and St. Polten are also pretty cool

YES PLEASE, do a food tour in the other districts! We are planning to come to Vienna and would love suggestions outside of the city center. Also suggestions on areas to stay in other districts that would be safe and not too far out. Thank you so much. We’re binge watching you guys now. Thanks so much!

Vienna really dosn't have unsafe districts. Its considered one of the safest large cities in europe. The only parts of vienna which can get sometimes a little sketchy at night are some parts of the 10th, 11th, 16th and 21th district (and i really mean really really small parts of these districts, like Reumannplatz (10th) or Floridsdorf Bahnhof (21th) for expample. If want to stay central nearby everything in walkable distance and be connected at the same time perfectly with tram, metro & bus, all districts from 1 to 9 are perfectly fine. (Just consider that Schwedenplatz region is our nightlife part, so its a little bit busier and louder at weekends (allthough vienna is a very very calm city at night in general). My personal favorite would be the 9th. It has the elegance of the 1st district, but is very calm, yet extremly good connected to most sights you want to see. Also there are a lot of very good and charming cafés & restaurants.

Thank you for your video. I love watching content like this about other cities when I plan to visit them soon and its nice to see a beautiful edited video like this about my own city. Can 100% agree with all mentioned points (I would just add one point; tourists should really visit both, an old traditional k.u.k. café and newer cozy "hipper" cafés, so they really can understand why vienna was and is called one of the café capitals in europe). I'm espacially glad that you advised people to visit other districts than the 1. district in vienna, since one of the main reasons I love this city so much is, that vienna has an overall beauty and every district represents this with its own charateristic charm. (Espacially district 2. - 9. as you mentioned, which can often compare with other "city cores" which I personally find rather unique). PS: May I ask which building is shown at 4:35? I live here now for ten years and I really can't remember to have seen this building. Would be glad if you can help me out :).

Great video! I spent two weeks in Vienna last October and loved it so much. There wasn't anything I did that felt like a tourist trap. To get a great view of the city, I rode the Ferris Wheel. It is featured in the famous movie called "The Third Man" with Orson Welles, and I saw that movie as a young person and waited 40 years to finally ride it. I thought it was worth it. I wish I would have spent more time in the other districts like you guys suggested.

@@dr.baotran8448 most Christmas markets in Vienna open between the 14th and 23rd of November. There should be several already open on the 18th! Just make sure you don't just go to the biggest one on "Rathausplatz", that's the most kitschy mainstream one. The one in Schönbrunn is very nice, but my favourites are the Freyung, Spittelberg, and Karlsplatz.

I'm not sure if that's still the case - after all it's been over ten years that I've been on all the sightseeing busses - but the purpose of those busses isn't to simply get you from A to B like trams do but to also give you a an audio guide for landmarks to pass by.

I am heading to Vienna next month. Thank you for the tips. You really gave good advice on real "tourist traps" I should avoid. Other vloggers say do not visit this place or that museum cause its a tourist trap. I think that is silly because it will be ridiculous to skip popular attractions just because its a touristy area. Thank you for letting me know about the Vienna City Card. When in European cities, I try to use public transport whenever possible.

Viewpoints: I don´t think that you have informed yourself about the food and beverage prices at the locations you are recommending. As a Vienna resident i can assure that EVERY "beautiful view" bar or restaurant here IS expensive.
@KhyatiPuria8 ай бұрын
Agree restaurants with a view charge premiums but our point isn’t to deny that. We just suggest rather than purchasing a ticket for a viewpoint, consider visiting one of those bars or restaurants and treating yourself to a drink. Plus, you will be able to soak in the view for a longer period

Is there a certain part of the S7 train for suitcases/larger luggage that wouldnt be in the way? Or is it essentially a free for all if you find space etc :)
@KhyatiPuria8 ай бұрын
Hey…there is very limited space where you can park your big luggage. But it’s similar to any other regular train. Try to find space where it doesn’t block anybody or anything. Shouldn’t be a big issue if you’re not traveling during main commuting hours.

As a Viennese I would like to call on every tourist NOT to go on the Fiaker (horse drawn carrige). Please don`t. Not only are they a huge nuissance for locals because they block traffic and stink in summer, it is also a giant animal welfare issue. Horse carriges have nothing to do in big cities in 2024, there are many alternatives, the animals should be out in the green pastures which these horses never get to see for their entire life. Let`s get them out of business together, it`s about time this stops. Thank you, on behalf of all locals.

I thought about it and I think I know why a tourist might love Demel. You get a small portion of good quality and A LOT of fin de siecle/ k. u k. Flair. If you want that, go for it. And you're right 9€ for inner city Vienna I not that bad. For Austrians Kaiserschmarrn is a main course, not a dessert. It was traditionally eaten on Fridays when no meat was allowed, usually one would have some vegetable based soup before. If you want that experience you should go to Palatschinkenkuchl. You can eat Schmarrn like an Austrian there.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Btw: recommending to travel outside peak season? Wow, you came up with that all by yourself? Tourists can be tolerated. The thousands of travel podcasts where people talk as if they had consumed knowledge with their last drink suck the big one! A tip: instead of talking Strassenbahn to drive past buildings, just get yourself a postcard. That's the cheapest way to basically see nothing.
