It is felt so much the person behind this interview in the sense of what this person thinks of this or that, what is right or not, my great experiences, my decisions.... Which is so much different from listening to Andreas Muller, Jim Newman, Tim Cliss, ... Where here is felt like freedom Vs the limitation, rightness and non rightness, best and not good ...with this non dual philosophers/speaker... Looks like another type of self development path using no duality or others, in order to make their life experience better, because it is or it was not enough as it was.... Is like so much complexity and paths and evolutions with this sort of no dual philosophers, which stay in this personal experience that really is felt like a limitation of freedom and sort of I know what is right/best above other options... Lack of humble position and lack of they could be wrong.... It may jeopardize their all life experienc if so... It is what it is anyway....

It seems Tim thinks the persona is spoke about negatively by the current nonduality speakers. All the nondual speakers I know are bubbling over with personality and live fulfilling lives. Tim is right to be cautious of the misinterpretation that nonduality is pointing to any kind of nihilism. The person can experience all things. Wonder and bliss are my favorites!

Good interview and a pleasant alternative to the usual non dual jargon that gets tossed around like rice at a wedding. However....... The imagined center has to create a domain of comfort otherwise discomfort threatens the balance. The word individual means undivided, not two. Individualism is just another ism. Who is to say what is right or wrong? The fragmented 'individual' is just conflicting ideas about an imagined self. Who cares? There is no answer in the mind. "We have to create new ideas"? Actually, if you observe closely, you will see that you cannot think a single thought. Thoughts appear and disappear. Thought has no duration. Who wants to know that? No one. Preferences and assumptions can appear to be very strong and durable but the fact remains that every night, in deep sleep, it all disappears. Who cares? "The Way is beyond language" - Hsin Hsin Ming. The ancient text called the Hsin Hsin Ming covers every possible angle the mind can come up with. It is easy to read but it does not hold any appeal for the ambitious spiritual seeker, simply because it removes all the ground that the imagined seeker is 'standing upon'.

Re: "Actually, if you observe closely, you will see that you cannot think a single thought. Thoughts appear and disappear." Perhaps that is true for you & maybe others but I can only speak for and about my own, personal, direct experiences here. I can and do "think"....make certain thoughts & feelings appear and certain unwanted thoughts & feelings disappear.

How do you know we took 14 Billion years to evolve?

Astronomers estimate the age of the universe in two ways: (a) by looking for the oldest stars; and (b) by measuring the rate of expansion of the universe and extrapolating back to the Big Bang.

@@TimFreke1 How can you figure out the age of a star? Why do astronomers put out information that they don't know accurately? Then we extrapolate on extrapolations smugly thinking how intelligent we are. Isn't it better to just admit it's a mystery and that we have no way of knowing how old the Universe really is?

@@ralphricart3177 It is both ultimately a great mystery and within that our understanding has grown in extraordinary ways. It is that understanding which is allowing us to connect via the Internet right now. How can we not respect the knowledge that has come from the scientific method if it has given us this? We don’t know exactly the age of the universe and undoubtedly our understanding will change and develop - maybe radically. But these are not mere guesses. They are careful calculations based on meticulous observations. Yet none of this diminishes the profound mystery that the universe exists and we are here conscious of it.

@@TimFreke1 l would suggest that ignorance is arrogant. It is possible that we know far less than we claim to and it's our egos that augment this so-called knowledge. From my experience when l admit l don't know something the rabbit hole opens up and that's when l'm absolutely sure l don't know anything. The further you go down the more unpretentious you become. I think Socrates may have annoyed more than one ancient Greek with this mind set or lack thereof.

@@ralphricart3177 my book called The Mystery Experience is about exactly what you’re saying ralph. Except that I think we can embrace both opening to mystery and our relative understanding. It’s not either/or. It can be both and
