If that story isn't complete fake and/or some "fan-fic" on the video about the neighbours complaints/warnings about the smell around Dahmer's flat... (The video was great btw). Hate to say it, but the landlord should call the cops on "Steve"! URGENTLY! & I'm certainly no fan of the cops, but there could be dead animals or people rotting inside his flat and he could get into huge troubles! - This sounds like all the warnings and complaints, the neighbours of Jeffrey Dahmer have been writing to his landlord (to no avail) - til the cops randomly stumbled across another one of Dahmer's handcuffed escapees, the pictures while searching for the handcuff's key and those barrels with corpses in his flat... & I'd love to hear an update to this story, this situation really peaked my interest! As to my knowledge, planned evictions got postponed due to covid19; and I'd be worried, if the landlord couldn't simply evict that "Steve-person" (I also recommended this landlord in my separate main-comment to electronically background-check his future tenants).
@CaseyHarMegiddo

It's gotta be fake. I mean, I know landlords are souless husks that survive off the work of others and offer nothing to their community, but I didn't think they could be that stupid.

I’m in Tennessee and we have brown recluse here and we lived in a rent house while building a new house and the rent house was infested with brown recluse and it was a nightmare! I think my family and I spent more time staying at my parents than at our rent house and when we moved to our new house we had to unpack all our stuff and repackage into new boxes to make sure there was no brown recluse which all our stuff ended up having more than we expected!! 😬

Story 3...I honestly don't think she got any complaints at all from the neighbors. I think she's just trying to validate being nosey. I mean, what landlord wants to do a check on the apartment a week after the tenant moves in? And then the way she complains about seeing another person in the apartment with him. I mean, he's allowed to have guests. Plus the way she keeps riding by and sitting there spying on him, kinda creepy if you ask me. And yeah, I get that she owns the place, but tenants have rights too and he is paying his rent. Actually extra and ahead of time. I think she's just saying she smells something as an excuse to get inside and snoop around. Think about it, if she really thought something sus was going on, she'd call the police or one of the supposed complaining neighbors would, but no. Trust me, I've sadly dealt with some stalker type landlords and they acted just like her. I had one lady that would actually use her key and enter the house when I was at work and set the temperature to what SHE thought it should be! By the way, I was paying my own utilities! She'd leave little notes etc. That actually backfired on her and when I moved because of her, she took me to court for breaking my lease. Well, not only did i have the notes etc as proof she was entering without me there and without my permission. She even admitted it. Well the judge told her that she had violated my privacy and had no reason to enter the house. He was also shocked when he read some of the notes where she would call me names even and sound threatening, and also how she'd even somehow just come in when I was still in bed and walk right in on me and wake me up! Well, after all that, he actually ordered HER to pay me back all the rent I had paid for the 6 months I was there and basically stalked and harassed by her. So yeah, tenants do have rights. More than you think actually. Sorry for long post. I kinda just went off there, 😆

I have only used airbnb once and I will never use it again, it's not a horror story but my husband and I were using it for our wedding night as we had decided to get married in the city that was where most of our friends and family were living at the time (like a reverse destination wedding), I went to bed on my wedding night and woke up the next morning to find that the bed was FULL of bedbugs. We hadn't seen them the day before but, OMG there were so many that they weren't even trying to hide! I was so upset! And disgusted. The place had a washer and dryer and because we HAD to get home because I needed to get back to work (We didn't honeymoon) I grabbed trash bags and put our clothes in the dryer on high before shoving them in the bags and starting the 22 hour drive back home. We didn't say goodbye to anyone in person in case the bugs spread, we didn't stay in a hotel on the way back because we didn't want to infect anyone. When we got there I insisted on leaving our suitcases outside for a week before dealing with them in hope the bugs would have died, then washed the clothes twice and sprayed the luggage with extra strength bed bug killer. I know it sounds like we did too much here but bed bugs are awful and spread very easily. It really ruined how I look at my wedding night. We did leave an honest review and sent airbnb picture of the bugs after trying to talk to the person who owned the property and getting no response. All in all 0/10 would not recommend "Bed Bug Wedding Night"

Story 7 makes me despise how people sit by and don't do anything. Like, you should always try to break up a fight no matter who was in the right or wrong if it's that serious. Because most of the time the end result will be the worst case scenario for one or both parties.

My friend doesn't run a B&B, but a catering service out of a victorian home. She came home from some time away last year to be told that a body had been found in the alley behind the house. She never got any info on who, how or why. It was odd because her area isn't known for violent crime. Guess it could happen anywhere.

Umm, I’ve rented apartments in the past. I had to sign a lease agreement woth my full name, previous rentals for landlord reference as well as agreeing to the terms of the lease. He can’t just mention his name being Stefan and get away with it. And shouldn’t the owner have the right to enter the apartment? I can’t buy this story

Most people seem to freeze up when they're in a situation like this. A survival thing and the same has been observed in primates, our closest relatives. Don't think it's a good thing either but instinctive fear seems to be a lot stronger than reason and empathy in most humans. Especially since most of us aren't good fighters without a weapon, no claws, no sharp teeth etc. It's sad really.
@roryslaine7896

It's called 'The Bystander Effect'. Basically, people are much less likely to intervene if they're in a group, especially if they're strangers. I think there are a few other variables too, but I can't remember off the top of my head. I don't know if I fully buy into either, I like to think I'd personally step up and help someone but you just never know until you're in that situation. Stick it into Google and read up about for yourself and see what you think.

I laughed at the spider story. I live in a massive 100 year old house in Queensland, Australia and it is full of Huntsman spiders. I love them, they eat other more annoying insects. If you get close to them to have a look there is a good possibility it will jump on your face. Happened to me many times.
